$6.99 Original XBOX Halo (used) at Gamerush\Blockbuster (precautionary YMMV?)

CAGiversary!
Just returned from my local Gamerush and noticed the first Halo priced for $6.99! Since it's still being sold used over $10 at most game stores, and has remained a poular game over all these years, I figured the news should have its own thread.

Usually prices across stores are consistant, but still consider it a possible YMMV until someone else confirms (just to be safe.)

well it sells $18 used if it helps anyone decide if that makes/breaks this deal lol

good price, but couldn't it be had for $10 new at someplaces?

I dont think so because they (new) go for $15+ on ebay, but i could be wrong

why not a new copy? if your TRU still has Halo at clearance, they usually go like $9.98. and then you can take advantage of 15% off.

well i'm still waiting for Halo 2 to drop so.....
I bought Halo 2 at blockbuster for $6.99 like 2 years ago and they had a few more copies I should've snagged :(
holy cow...shoulda bought em all and eBay'd em or shared the find with fellow CAGs...depending on how nice you are ;)

Actually I picked up their last copy at Bestbuy for $10 a few weeks ago (having not seen it first at the adjacent Toys R Us.) Those were the only two places I knew were selling it for $10 - but these places have heavily phased out their original Xbox inventory. If anyone has an out-of-the-way Gamerush (there's one near me that hardly moves their used game stock) you might have a good chance at finding it!

I remember the Halo 2 sale around christmas time 2 years ago. I picked up their last screwed up copy - that's when I learned that boiling discs was a highly effective solution for getting your games to work!:bouncy:

my buddy has a copy of smash melee for the cube and he can't get it to work

he's used toothpaste, oil, rubbed it with alcohol and it still didn't work...is this sure-proof?

Boiling is pretty much the only way to get OXM demo discs to work :p So yeah, it's effective and works most of the time.

Besides some old sports titles, and a xopy of Xenosaga III for 19.99, there arent that many used games at my Blockbuster. Hows the selecton at other stores?

It seems to work on on Xbox discs, I had similar problems with a used copy of Van Helsing I bought recently and it ran perfectly after a quick boil (FYI boiling the disc for about 30 seconds or so leaves no visible damage that would prevent trade-in.) In both cases the game would take far to long to load and would lock up at cut-scenes, boiling the disc solved the problem.

I had some success boiling a faulty Contra:Shatterd Soldier disc for the PS2 - but a few months later I couldn't get it to run again, even after repeated boiling attempts. I never had problems with any gamecube software.

As for why it works, I read on a message board somewhere that boiling helps to seperate the layers on dual layered Xbox discs. just google "xbox boiling disc" and browse game-related forums to find more detailed info.
