With an astounding five or six titles announced, Kelly Sumner, CEO of Red Octane stated that future titles may not even be rock based, and may consist of Country and Heavy Metal songs. "We are working on Guitar Hero 2, which will have 40-plus new tracks," responded Sumner. When asked about the uses of the add-on guitar, Sumner replied, "you could absolutely do a plug and play version".

I wouldn't care for the Country edition, but most everything else I'd be interested in. I can't wait to see what songs they've got in the pipe for these future titles. Anyone else excited for more Guitar Hero?

I'd like to see some licenses along with drums here. Thinking of "Oh My Julia!" by Country Kko Kko(K-Pop group) makes me drool thinking of playing it with em' and I'm sure I can think of other Korean and American songs to play with the guitar. Too bad NONE will be by the official artists.

I've got Guitar Hero sitting on my table, just waiting to be taken out of the box and played. I'm pretty glad to hear that they may produce more sequels.

Too much of a good thing can sometimes be bad. Let's just hope they don't get a bit too carried away and just ruin their good idea, but I doubt they can manage to mess it up ;)

For the drum idea, i could imagine guitar hero on gamecube, connect 2 guitars and some donkey konga controllers, instant band!

Guitar Hero: N*Sync oh the possiblities :barf:, even though they have no guitars. Bet it'd still sell like hotcakes. Journey sure would sell

*orgasm*

All they have to do is add a practice mode that allows me to play certain parts of songs, and I'll buy the new version every week.

Yeah, and I hope it'd give you the ability to slow songs down so you can practice reading the notes easier.

hey, there have been a bazillion DDR games, and the idea is still (relatively) fresh

I havent played guitar heroes yet (too cheap to buy guitar controller, and no friends have it) but its always nice to see an innovative (and non-violent) series get the success it deserves

These are games that basically can't get old, they are just always fun to some extent. Just like guitar hero, DDR, and certain puzzle games (tetris). But usually releasing something too soon and too much of it just takes some of that fun away, not saying the games aren't equally as good. Just space things out, let us enjoy what we have and so on. And we surely don't want to see a bad guitar hero with songs we don't like, but that's all subjective.
Guitar Hero: Journey Edition

They wouldn't be able to keep it in stock.
Seconded. I know I would buy that in a heartbeat.

I figured that it wouldn't take long before they started releasing more of these, everytime I go to Best Buy there's always someone having a blast playing that game, no matter what their age. I haven't met a single person who didn't like it, and I still play it daily

5 words: CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON!

I'd also die for a few Yes and Zeppelin songs.

how about a hippy edition with 30 minute long versions of Dark star? no? awww...;)
Zeppelin Damnit!!!!!
I wanna rock out to the Ocean. or......Achilles Last Stand

I'm happy to hear they are doing this even though I've played enough of the game for hours on end and don't even own it.

What I don't get is where's the Taiko Drumaster love? Japan got sequals, why not US (I can answer this... bad sales).

I'm glad to see both Kansas and (especially) Journey already mentioned...you are fine people, indeed.

And yeah, I always thought some more metal would be nice...but even I didn't dream of an entire add-on disk for it. I can't wait.

After seeing "Rock School", I wouldn't mind some Zappa.

But my personal tastes would want some Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson...

On the softer side, U2 and Creed [don't flame me people]

I'd crap my pants if Peaches en Regalia or Willie the Pimp was on there. unfortunately, the Zappa family are notoriously evil about lending his music.

And after seeing "Ring of Fire" on a mexican restaraunt commerical within two months or so of Cash's death, I have more respect for Zappa's family than anybody who owns song rights currently.

I love this game, but i was a little dissapointed with some titles being left out like led zeppelin, pink floyd, metallica, system of a down, tool, disturbed, godsmack, guns and roses, and others. I guess it just gives them more songs to use in the sequel

That's like saying the Holocaust never happened, and then asking people not to call you a nutjob meth addict.

true, they do keep it sacred. but they also discourage people from covering his songs and sue when they hear a TV jingle sound similar to a zappa solo...

They should do 90s edition....

Pearl Jam.....Nirvana....Soundgarden.....Alice in Chains.....Toadies....Tool....etc.

Throw in a track from indie guitar greats The Hold Steady and I'd buy 10 copies.

I would love, just LOVE to see add-on packs for this game. Get multiple teams working on these, release them monthly or bi-monthly for 20 bucks a pop. Have like 20 songs or so on each. Make it so people could subscribe to it to have each add-on disk sent to them automatically. While you have that going, have another team of people making GH2, the true sequel with whatever gameplay tweaks/changes are coming and have that one have a bajillion songs. (Like 40-50 like what was stated in the interview.)

While I knew a sequel was in the works, I didn't know they were going this over-the-top awesome with it. This makes me happy, in my pants.
I agree with p00p. But, I would get the heavey metal version. Queen baby!!!!
Queen = NOT METAL.
Queen = NOT METAL.
Maybe not metal by today's standards, but when they were first around, they were definately one of the heaviest mainstream bands out there.

A lot of the more popular bands (Van Halen, Metallica) would probably ask for WAY too much money to have their songs in the game, and covered by someone else, no less. Wouldn't want someone putting together a video of themselves playing "Enter Sandman" on Hard and sharing it on the internet now, would we?

Agreed, stupid kids.

GH was practically made for the 360. Wireless guitar controller modeled after a white Strat, downloadable songs, particle effects, online dueling... I'm surprised it isn't there already.

Go listen to Stone Cold Crazy, and then promptly shut the fuck up.

id be down.

a 10 minute YEM would be nice too.

I'd give $100 to the person who could play a 30 minute song on expert, fail the song at 97%, and NOT smash their controller to smithereens.

Geez, is this a record for milking a franchise?
5-6 titles announed on 1 day?

EDIT: I think Shenmue takes the title. I remember before the game was even out they said they were gonna make like 16 chapters or something.

I flubbed Expert-level Bark At The Moon at 97-99% for at least a half-hour's worth of attempts before I completed it, and my guitar remains intact. Can you do Paypal?

it's a grateful dead song with a notoriously long "exploratory" improv section, so I'd pay them for not falling asleep.

a 10 minute YEM would be nice too.

some of the shorter Phish songs would be a lot of fun...Foam comes to mind :)

Hell yes.
That's like saying the Holocaust never happened, and then asking people not to call you a nutjob meth addict.

It's not the bands, it's the record labels that have to give permission, right? That's probably why whole groups of great bands are missing - they were all on the labels that weren't included.
