75% off N64 and PS1 Games @ EB/GS

bsschorr

CAGiversary!
The old B1G1 sale appears to be over and is being replaced with a 75% off sale; plus the 10% off for your Game Informer card comes off the original (and the the dicounted price), makes the deal closer to 85% off. It also appears that the old N64 and PS1 games are being consolidated in select stores, so many stores will not have any games and some will have a ridiculous amount. YMMV and good luck.
I'm pretty sure all of you are bullshitting. Really, several people just happened to find most of the rarest PSX RPGs available?
I don't think people are bs their finds. Nobody posted the really rare stuff, it's not like they found Suikoden II, Valkyrie Profile or disney mix. It all depend on your location, some people maybe luckier then others.

Anyway, I picked up couple of disc only games a few days ago like Star Ocean Second Story, Rhapsody, digmon rumble 1-3, threads of fate, chocobo dungeon 2, starcraft 64, and bunch of worthless games for me to play. Great my backlogs is even greater.

Dang, I can't believe Chocobo Dugenon 2 game didn't work. I have to go back to gamestop and get my $1.50 refund

I don't know if anybody considers these rare or not but my store still had 10+ copies each of Persona 2 and Rhapsody. I picked up two of each along with a mint copy of Breat of Fire 4 (these all have the "R"efurbished sticker on them).

Isn't Rhapsody one of those games that there was an "official" reprint on. I can't remember the company that does those but I remember reading a story a while back about a company that buys up the rights to reprint some of the rarer games out there.

SI

I got the following

Rhaspody X 3 (1 complete w/ soundtrack other 2 complete just missing soundtrack)
Breath of Fire 4 X 4 (1 complete, 3 disc only)
Persona 2 (disc Only)
Saiyuki X 3 (all complete)
Brave Fencer Musashi (disc only)
Resident Evil 3 Nemesis (disc only)

My store actually got ANOTHER shipment in. Basically the other stores were sending their inventory to them.

If anyone has any extra psx rpg's send me a PM. I've already sold all of these but I have some $$$ for any rpg's i might not already have

Someone is angry. I mean seriously most of these games are normally $20-30. Hardly super-rare but at $2-5 a great deal.
Is FF Tactics for PSX rare? I've been thinking about going back to pick up the other copy they had. But I'm not sure anyone here would want a disc only package.

The EB near me has about 20 of these Memory cards for like $1 or $2 each. I also picked up 3 N64 1st party rumble packs for a dollar each. Not bad at all. There are a few third party rumble packs left if anyone needs one or a memory card, let me know.
Final Fantasy Tactics is not rare at all. Its one of the most common games on PSX actually.

Did anyone find any fighting games? Also, Brian, how much was Persona 2?
Someone is angry. I mean seriously most of these games are normally $20-30. Hardly super-rare but at $2-5 a great deal.
And you don't think that finding a bunch of games that normally cost $30 and saying you bought them for $2-5 is something people would do? I live in a state where people's hobbies include guns and distant cousins, and not even I can find these games. So I normally think people are lying when I hear about populous towns with tons of these rare games.

You could all very well have them, but I think the odds are greater that you don't.

If I still have my reciepts i'll take some pictures tonight and post em. Persona 2 was $4.50. $29.99 - 85% = $4.50.

and Blade you caught us, we are all here trading imaginairy games because dozens of us are part of a conspiracy designed to try to make you feel bad.

Have you ever thought that since these are all USED games that if you live in an area where people don't play alot of games that there might not be alot of games being traded in?

Which store in Miami was it? I might check 'em out. Are you still looking for that Silent Hill 3 strategy guide?

Nah I have all the silent hill guides now. It was the one in Town and Country but it's REALLY cleaned out now. Still has 100+ psx games but trust me, after going thru em all nothing is worth buying lol.

Ugh. Five GameStops and only one had used PSOne games. Unfortunately, all of those were the cheapy games made by no-name third party developers who brought games like "Snowboarding" to us. That and apparently a lot of copies of Wild 9. o_O;

So is this deal only until this upcoming Sunday? Looks like I'll miss out on the good stuff anyway, but I'll take any opportunity to actually get something cheap at GS. :p

My visit sucked, I edited my old post to reflect that. There weren't any PS1 games that I saw and out of the huge box of around 50 or so 64 games almost all of them were madden and other sports titles.

I picked up 2 copies of Excitebike 64, one of which is spoken for, so I have one left that's up for grabs. I'm looking for $7 or a trade.

I also saw a few copies (along with madden, etc.) of Cruisin' USA, some Elmo game, Army Men Sarge's Heroes, Space Invaders, and the infamous Superman.

If anybody happens to want those let me know and I can check again some time.

I've bought some descent games from this clearance, here's a list of what I can recall...

Rhapsody
Persona 2
Bust-A-Move '99
Devil Dice
Risk
DDR: Konamix
Vandal Hearts II
Omega Boost

On interesting note, one of the gamestop i went to yesterday have more nes and snes combine then ps1 and n64 games. Most of them were crap, I only picked up a bonic commander for Famicom, some atlus shooter, mario 64 and some 15 cent nes games. I talked with store manager that several eb/gamestop stores might get more games in upcoming months from their wherehouse until all of it is sold out. So keep your eyes peel for new stuff

I went to my local EBGames at lunch and picked up for the PSX:
Loaded
Spawn The Eternal
Fighting Force
Fear Effect 2
Strider 2
Strikers 1945

After applying my Edge card discount I paid $5.25 for all of them. There were only crappy sports titles for the N64 left.

Picked up a bunch of crappy titles like Spec Ops and Tomorrow Never Dies. Best find was Tekken 2, but that was about it. I have a feeling it may be tougher to find original case/manual for these than it was to find the actual games that I was missing.

Hm, here's another thread. Hopefully I'll get as lucky as I was when the local GS resupplies the PS1 lot.

Below is my haul (posted in another thread):

I got a moderately good haul from about 6 GS/EB, costing about $30ish after all discounts. Each store reported one guy buying out HUNDREDS of titles of titles at a time. One store said one person returned 4 times in one day! I guess that's where all the hot or eBayable games went (Super Smash Bros, Mario games Tennis, Golf, Parties 1, 2, 3, Mario 64, etc)

Assume all are disc/cart only except when noted. I haven't decided what to keep or trade yet for most games.

N64 haul:

Starcraft 64
Tetrisphere
ExciteBike 64
Castlevania
Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness (I'm keeping this!)
Rayman 2: Great Escape
World Driver Championship
Armorines
San Fran Rush 2049
Turok 2
South Park
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Extreme G2
Hybrid Heaven
Beetle Adventure Racing (I'm keeping this too)
Lego Racers
Command and Conquer
Duke Nukem: Zero Hour
Shadowgate 64
Winback
Wipeout 64
Jet Force Gemini
Cruis'n Exotica
Blast Corps
Pokemon Puzzle League

PS1 haul:
Deception III: Dark Delusion
Silhouette Mirage
One Piece Mansion
Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (I'm keeping this)
Disney's Treasure Planet (new, sealed)
Colony Wars
Metal Gear Solid
Parasite Eve
King's Field II
Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions
Pinobee
Norse by Norsewest (Lost Vikings)
Raystorm
Tall Infinity (complete)
TRAG: Mission of Mercy

I may check the GS stores in upper NY tomorrow while my one relative I work for is at the auction there. There's like 2-3 GS stores within 5-6 miles of each other from the auction. I just hope like hell that they lemme use the car(cause then I'll hit the 2 Best Buys in that same area lol).

Otherwise, I still haven't found the 1-3 titles I'm looking for for PS1 from the stores YET. And, with how many Ebayers probably know about this clearance by now, I doubt I'll find the ones I want.

Hit an out of town store and made a decent score

PS1
Azure Dreams
Parasite eve II
Megaman X 5
Megaman X 6
Megaman Legends non GH disk, + 2 GH editions one sealed.
Megaman Legends 2 non GH
chrono cross
Bust a move 4
Persona 2 :bouncy:

Most didn't have manuals sadly but at 1.00 or so each I'm not going to bitch. This sale has been going on awhile though. If these were leftovers I can't imagine what titles I missed. Thanks, op!

Has anyone received the newest Game Informer and 10% off used games coupon? It would be pretty great to get anything for 95% off.

My store got a small restock and i got

Persona 2
Alundra 2
Bushido Blade 2
And Saiyuki

Alundra 2 and Bushido Blade 2 are for trade if anyone wants

I snagged the following yesterday(with an additional 10% off with the Edge card:

Both are disc(s) only:

Command & Conquer(PS): $2.25(originally $14.99)
Nuclear Strike(PS): 45 CENTS LOL

I also snagged a copy of each of the Reservoir Dogs and Pirates Of The Caribbean penny guides.

My total came to $2.88 after tax. LOL God, I love this clearance, now if I could just find a copy of Intelligent Qube I'd be set.

WOWOW i went to a gamestop today and scored big time in my opinon

most didn't have cases or manuals..but still.. they were all in pretty great condition

I got:
Playstation:

D
Resident Evil Directors Cut
In The Hunt
Mega Man Legends
Mega man Legends 2
Parasite Eve (even has the FFVIII Demo)
Rhapsody (with Soundtrack)

Complete:
mega man X5
Mega Man X6
Guardian's Crusade

I also got a used DDR Mario Mix and pad for 31.00 and a Gamecube Broadband Adapter for 2.99...total for everything was like 50.00
They actually sold a used dance pad? They normally don't take used ones, let alone sell them, due to hygene issues. o_o
it had the generic Gamecube Controller SKU. and lol they say it's a "Hygene" issue because they don't want you to buy used pads, they want you to buy their crappy Gamestop Brand Pads. I used to work at gamestop.....i was told this by alot of my managers..and to just tell people that it's a hygene issue so they don't question.

Either way, no way to tell if someone sweat or uhhh something worse on one of those and if you use too harsh a chemical on it, it may damage it, no?

I would NOT buy used dance pads, but have bought used controllers before and cleaned them and the 'muck' in the cracks of them with rubbing alcohol.

Finally going today. I'm replacing my PS2 which I bought last june used with a warranty, the disc drive isn't loading discs. Hopefully I can pick up some n64/ps1 stuff.

I went to GS over the weekend and was stunned at the horrible selection of PS1 games. It was literally 90% old sports games, 9% old extreme sports games and 1% random unplayable garbage.

Sounds about right. I had to look through about 300 disk only sports titles to find anything. Do you see what happens when you buy sports games?!

does anyone know if this applies to hardware and if not, what is the going used price on an original playstation as my store has one in stock and i want to know if its worth it for me to pick it up...its marked $20, but I think its been sitting there forever...

haha guys i got liek every madden and nhl/nfl game.

Actually, I managed to find Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong Racing, Smash Bros, Clay Fighter 63 1/3, Quest64, Goldeneye 007, Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Stadium, Gex, Gex 3, Tony Hawk 2, Wave Race 64, and Pilot Wings 64, among some other stuff.

No one had anything decent for the PSX -- I found a MGS, Persona 2, and the X-Files - but the MGS and Persona 2 boxes were EMPTY (which the clerk defined as stolen, they no longer keep the discs behind the counter, even for games at a $30 sticker price) and the X-Files discs were all loose, and I could only find three out of four.

I did snag Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, though.

Combining my edge card + the discount = games from $0.40-$3.00

I managed to snag duplicates of most games if anyone wants to buy or trade.
Doesnt apply to hardware/accessories which I dont get since many stores seem to have accessories and no games.
Hardware may be clearanced too, though YMMV - I picked up a PSone with controller, AC adaptor, and RF adaptor for $10 pre-tax.

There were grimy, old PSX systems left though. I have yet to test them but I couldn't pass up a system for $10.

I know for a fact that accessories are NOT clearanced, as a $2 memory card was about the same price after tax.

I picked up more good titles since my store is still receiving PS1 shipments from other districts apparently. The 75% off promo doesn't automatically apply anymore so the Edge card only took 10% off the manual 75% discount (before, Tales of Destiny was $29.99 less 75% = $7.50 - 10% of $29.99 = $7.50 - 3 = $4.50. NOW, with the manual entry, it was $7.50 - $0.75 = $6.75. Ah well. The discount is still current but for whatever reason, this store's register didn't apply the discount automatically.

I noticed this, too - my first round of games had both discounts off of the original price, then I had some that took 10% off of the discounted price - and then went to a different store two days later, and they stacked based on the original price again.

I think different stores might be configured differently.

Its a shame that the 75/off doesn't include accessories, but they are already discounted - $1.80 for N64 power adapters after discount? Not bad for something that most eBayers are asking $15+ for.

I ended up going to my gs today and the playstation rang up as $15, still not a bad deal, brought it home, works perfectly...

I was wondering if it would be worth the trouble to pick up an original playstation for running emulators for older game systems and what are some that work on it?

I dont know about them working on the PS, think you mean to say DREAMCAST since it does, not that that subject is approved of on these forums

I've seen emulators for the NES and the SMS for the Playstation, but I've never tried them. Anything the Playstation can emulate can be done far easier on the PC.
