8 Dollars trade-in for all DVD's at Blockbuster

I went to Starbucks this morning and I saw a big sign on the front window of Blockbuster that said "8 dollars trade in value on all DVD's". This is a pretty good value unless you are looking to rid boxed sets or those pricey rare editions. However, I passed 3 blockbusters on the way to school, and only 2 had the special. Not sure if it is coincidence, but the ones that have the special do not have a Gamerush.

Well today is 10/5, and it was the first time I saw the sign for this special. For the uninformed like myself, this is a wonderful thing.

man if people knew about this 10 days ago the overstock movies would of flew 10x faster (buy them for 2 sell them for 8 ) ours is having it here what is kind of werid since if you want to double your money you can. Pawn shops sells 5 DVDS for 20 Take the to Blockbuster sell them for 40 ez 20 bucks. Bad thing is if Block dont want the movies your out 20 bucks.

Last time I was in there, they sold DVD movies at this dollar store by my house. Crappy titles like "Laser Mission" and some old, old Westerns. They weren't in the DVD cases, just some cardboard sleeve with the picture and info on them. I didn't look too closely, wonder if they were boots?

they are real Dvds but real crappy dvds. Walmart has them now too.. I doubt Blockbuster will take them since the things they take "have to be something they have in the store: that is what they said on phone

Yeah, I have a large DVD collection and I was thinking about trading some in...however, you only get STORE CREDIT or they will just credit your account. And the DVD's at BlockBuster always seem to be WAY overpriced. So, it's good if you have some cheap DVD's lying around....however, you still have to buy something there.

I got 48 dollars off some DVD's today. I asked them to place it on a giftcard, and I took it to a Gamerush and got the Mortal kobat Kollectors edition for dirt cheap.

Oh, I was not sure if you could use the BB GiftCard at GameRush...I would assume yes since both are under the same roof.

Maybe I will trade in a few DVD's. Like the House PArty Trilogy I picked up dirt cheap a while back

When I was trading in dvds yesterday, They game me a new bb value card instead of just using my gamerush value card...I still think you can use them interchangably though

Thanks....now what to get rid of. I actually just filled up my rack of over 300 DVD's.....so I should either
A.) Buy a new rack
B.) weed out the not-so-good titles
weed out the bad titles, and get stuff you can actually use.
good advice, it will free up space and you will get junk you actually want.

i just called my BB about this and they state that none of the stores in my county are doing this deal

I suppose there's not a list of the stores running this promo is there?

What state do you guys live in before I waste my time going by Blockbuster.
Just heard this deal on the radio here in California (LA County) so I'm pretty sure it's a go here.
it's definitely a go in SoCal b/c i traded in some dvd's on tuesday :)

FYI

The lady said the only Dvd's they accept are the one's that are in there computer.

If u goto blockbuster.com u can see all of the movies in there system.
I got $40 total for the following movies:

Hannibal
Chris Rock: Best of Saturday Night Live
Pee Wees Big Adventure
Night of the Living Dead 1968 version
Thirteen Ghosts

Tacoma,WA

I just go to the pawn shop accross the street pick up 3 for $10 (no tax) then boom those 3 make 24 dollars trade in credit... So far I've made a few of these trips needless to say...

Yeah, I was at my BB (with GameRush) and I saw a BIG ASS sign advertising this. I have about 9 old DVD's I'm trading in today or tomorrow.

Hopefully I can use my BB Gift Card for a GameRush game.

Putting your name to good use right then :)

Anyways, the answer is yes, yes you can.

How long are they running this deal? Do you think that they might be getting the new pstwo in stock at blockbuster?

I think the deal is going on till Mid November. That could change though. Man blockbuster's online library is definetly gonna increase with all these DVD and gamerush promotions. Also don't completely rely on blockbusters online library. I was able to turn in two dvd's not in their online catalog. They were The Rock the people's champ and WWE Judgement Day.

Somebody came in the pawn shop yesterday and apparently bought ALL of these "bargin" dvds... Probably like 400 of them...
I'm in Texas, and I noticed it is only the non-Gamerush locations that are doing this deal.
That is not true, every BB around here basically has a GR, and all of them do the deal.

And, I also managed to trade in a few DVD's that weren't in their systems and got 8 bucks for them, it's just a YMMV case if they take them or not, I suppose. They just really want inventory so that is why they are doing this, and I am positive they'll get tons of DVD's this way.
On a related note, I saw a sign at a BB by me (Chi-town) that said "Up to $35 trade-in for your games!"

*Shrug*
Which BB because I live in Chicago also and would like to go check it out? Also have you gone inside and check out the deals in BB (to see if it is even worth going)?

i dont know if any of you have heard of "movie trading company" but they are a small branch of blockbuster. You can use your giftcards there. They have much better prices and a huge selection.

It was the Blockbuster on Division over by Bar Chicago (right near the Clark/Division red line stop). And no I didn't go in b/c I was with a bunch of friends and we were on our way to the bar. I'll try to stop in sometime later this week if I can.
Anyone know if BB carries the MK: Deception Premium Pack? (PS2) I'd call, but they're closed.
yes, they do

saw it at kimball and irving park today. just drove past it didnt go in. anyone know which chicago BB sell gaming systems?

This deal is great...already traded in 13 DVD's (a lot could be had for $5 new....like The Smokers, Suicide Kings, The Fog....and a few others)

I now have $250 credit on my GameRush giftcard. I think I may have to invest in a game or two now. I was thinking of saving my credit for the Nintendo DS, but not sure if I really NEED a handheld gaming system....probably not.
Does anyone in MA know of any store doing this?
Just call up some local BB's, or just take a ride and go to them :D

Anyways, BB does carry the MK: Deception Premium Pack. I picked it up today with credit I got from some crappy DVD's. :D
didn't someone post all the movies blockbuster have in their system?
is so, plz post again because im too lazy to find it.
I doubt it, the list would probably have like 10,000 movies in it...
