8 Dollars trade-in for all DVD's at Blockbuster

I went to Starbucks this morning and I saw a big sign on the front window of Blockbuster that said "8 dollars trade in value on all DVD's". This is a pretty good value unless you are looking to rid boxed sets or those pricey rare editions. However, I passed 3 blockbusters on the way to school, and only 2 had the special. Not sure if it is coincidence, but the ones that have the special do not have a Gamerush.

didn't someone post all the movies blockbuster have in their system?
is so, plz post again because im too lazy to find it.
I doubt it, the list would probably have like 10,000 movies in it...
true, i just thought i remembered seeing a link somewhere deep in the thread.

holy crap, that is definitly out of my price range (although it is not a bad deal for someone with some extra cash lying around that wants $10,000 blockbuster trade in credit...)

Actually 350 DVD's x $8 = $2800 in credit. Although, you would need to keep going back as I think it's a $500 limit (a day?) on trading

My bad, math was never my strong point... and the cards only hold $500

Anyone try trading in one of the $15 BOX-SETS from Amazon.com and see what they get?

I'm curious to see if they give you more than $8 credit.

That's a good suggestion, my Amazon sets just shipped yesterday, and while I don't plan on selling either of them, I am curious to see what certain boxsets get in credit.

You aren't going to get that much..

24 Season One $20
Alias Season One $20

That should give you an idea on what you will get. The highest box set in the flyer is I Love Lucky season 1 $35.

I trade-in more than 40+. Only 9 DVD's not accepted by computer. So, I endup to Wharehouse music Trade-in 6 get 2 Free (Get Lion King 2 & Aladdin for Free). I may take the last 3 DVD's to Gamestop for trade-in 3 get 1 Free (SPiderman 2 or Shrek 2)

:)

Which pisses me off because they rented and sold the discs individually when they came out. So it should be 6x$8 = $48.

I haven't been to BB in quite some time. Is this deal still going on? If so, I will head down there tomorrow after picking up some crap DVD's at Wal-Mart.

Thanks for the prices....looks like I will keep them, or eventually EBAY them after watching. I find I rarely rewatch BIG television series like that anyways, not Greg The Bunny or the Simpsons I could watch over and over.

No problem, those were the prices listed on their October 2004 flyer. It's on the back of the "Get an extra $5 for game" thing. If anyone wants to to list the rest I can, but you aren't going to find any good deals. Highest like I said is I love lucky season 1-$35.

I bought crap DVDs at Walmart that I knew they would take and sold them. They seemed pretty pissed after that, but I honestly don't give a shit.

My local BB stopped carrying videogame systems.

Anyone know of a store in or around seattle that still has some and supports this deal?

Was in Erie, PA and Buffalo, NY on the weekend, and while Erie had the sale going on, none of the Buffalo stores did!

Does anyone know of any stores in Western NY that have the $8 trade-in?
if the dvd is listed on the BB website, does that mean they take it?
Not necessarily. 2 I tried that were on the website were rejected. The store scanned the barcode and also allegedly looked manually and couldn't find either. I called another store and they found one of the 2 in the system over the phone. I haven't actually gotten to go in and trade it yet. Looks like YMMV.

bought this random 2 pack DVD for 5.50 at walmart and tried to trade it in. first store didnt take it, but i then went to another BB and they took both for 8.00 each. score one for me.

I'm looking to take advantage of this deal tomorrow at an Ocala FL BB. They've had a sign inside the store saying a GameRush is coming, but who knows. I'll find out tomorrow..

This is still going on, right? I have like 3 or 4 movies that I could trade in. I forgot that my fiance and I had some of the same DVD's, plus I think I may get rid of F13th and eventually get the boxset....since I only own the first one (from the set that is)

when does this deal end?

I'm going to trade in F13th - PT1 and Fast Times at Ridgemont High (since new versions are out for both...or will be soon)

Well, my BB just started this deal, so I don't know when. But as far as my progress on the deal went, I had to hold off on trading in everything, because my local BB was undergoing some renovations:

the store has (meaning, completed. It's done as I type) added a GAMERUSH.

WHOO!! :D

This has to be the worst deal ever. I went yesterday with 5 DVD"s to trade and the manager said they can no longer accept DVD trades this day cause some guy traded in 187 DVD's an hour ago. He said come back tomorrow.

Well here I am...and the computer would not take Behind Enemy Lines, Vertical Limit, or 3000 Miles to Graceland. The only DVD's they took were Hellboy and Man on Fire.

THis deal sucks it seems Blockbuster will only take DVD"s less than one year old.

well, you must have had a strict BB, because mine took all my "over 1 year old DVD's"

Also, the NEW Fast Times DVD has DTS sound....but yes, it is essentially the SAME DVD. Although, you can get the 2-pack of that with Dazed for $20...so it is worth it. Although, Dazed is lacking on ANYTHING.....which is disappointing
