The Thing
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
Airplane!
Scarface

I loved many of the john cusack teen movies from the 80s (Say Anything, Better off Dead, Sure thing, etc.), some are more classic than other but bascially all were good for a laugh or two.

These aren't my favorites but they are some good 80's movies:
License to drive
3 O'clock High
Heathers
Girls Just Want To Have Fun
Goonies
Gremlins
American Anthem
Less than Zero
Moving Violations
Say Anything
Mannequin
Revenge of the Nerds
The Last American Virgin
Just one of the Guys
Shes out of Control
St. Elmo's Fire

Amazon Women on the Moon
Big Trouble in Little China
Blade Runner
Bloodsport
The Gods Must Be Crazy
Shaolin vs. Ninja
They Call Me Bruce
They Still Call Me Bruce
The Three Clones of Bruce Lee
Transformers The Movie

...and every other movie listed so far, especially Aliens, The Goonies, The Untouchables, and the Brat Pack flicks.

I also want to find out the name of an HK movie from the 80s that starred a character named Dogegg. It was a touching martial arts movie about an orphan boy, his sister, and a funky sports martial arts tournament.

Hey, you didn't ask for good movies, you asked for personal favorites. ^_____^

MAJOR EDIT: How could I forget to list Best of the Best? No filet mignon for me tonight, I haven't earned it.

Running Man...classic Arnold...see also the Conan movies and Total Recall (even though it was techinically 1990). Another good one, the first Batman movie w/ keaton.

Edit: And Spaceballs

Better Off Dead, or any other early John Cusack movies. Fandango with Kevin Costner is a great one. Weird Science, National Lampoon's Vacation, and, most importantly, FLETCH...

I could watch every 80's movie (I mean everyone) over and over again. I really love 80's "B" movies awesome awesome movies. why I will never know.

Most of my favorites are already listed, but here are some others I enjoyed from the 80's:

Predator
Robocop
Batman
Red Dawn
Platoon
Full Metal Jacket

I am glad to see that KingDox rectified the most glaring omission with Ghostbusters. That movie screams 80's.

Everyone has some good movies but I would also include:

Brazil
Fletch
Caddyshack
Evil Dead II

Wargames.
The Beastmaster.
The Highlander.
(I don't remember when Apocalypse Now came out...which is odd for me to mention, since I've yet to see that movie)

[edit: Cocoon.
(don't remember if Rambo: First Blood was '70s or '80s)]

Forgot a couple more:

Top Gun
Cocktail
Lethal Weapon
Cyborg
Rocky series
Road House

It seems most of these are on the basic cable channels at least 5 times/week.

Sorry to bump the thread, but I couldn't resist adding these:

Footloose
Dirty Dancing
Breakin

I saw Breakin at the drive in. It was part of a double feature with Red Dawn !!
And Footloose ! lol ! Gotta love Chris Penn's dancing.

Top Secret! underrated movie IMO
Monster Squad - I watched this movie when I was in grade school and was scared shitless. I watched it a few years later and realized how ridiculous it was

Better Off Dead, Night of the Comet, The Princess Bride, The Last Starfighter, Flight of the Navigator, The Neverending Story

I love these 4 year old thread bumpings. To add flame to the fire hackers was 90's. Best 80's movie was of course a scorcese film, The Last Temptation of Christ.

Everything mentioned here was awesome, but Goonies definitely personified the 80's, man.

When it looked COOL to have a bunch of teens hangin around listening to Cyndi Lauper...you know it was the 80's!!!
