THE GIST:
87 TRU's are closing
Current sale at (will drop to bigger discounts):

10-30% off all consoles
20-50% off all games
20-50% off all guides
40-50% off all accessories

*All discount amounts YMMV. Check the list below for a possible update on where each store is at.
*All items bought cannot be returned or exchanged anywhere (the barcodes will be crossed out with a marker).
*Further discounts should happen every 1, 2 weeks. It seemed at first it would be a YMMV on when, but it seems all stores are dropping prices at the same time.
*Stores will probably close sometime around Feb. 27th, give or take a couple weeks. Really just depends on how much merch is still moving when that time comes.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the store/sale list!

1/7 3AM EDIT: I am going to my TRU tomorrow to shop, as I bet many of the rest of you will too. Post what deals and stores you find and hopefully we can compile something worthwhile here. ^_^

1/7 1PM EDIT: Trying to compile what stores we have confirmed are closing; also adding what seems to be the current sale. Since each store is bought by local liqudators, your discounts may be different and drop slower/faster, so YMMV on the discounts, for better or for worse.

1/8 11PM EDIT: Looks like we are looking at about two weeks for the next drop, which should be to 20% - 40%. The time of the drop and the amount is up to each liqudator, so YMMV when it comes to it. But two weeks should be about right for all the stores. Store list updated, along with return policy. Forgot to ask about exchanges though, doh. >_<

1/11 2:30PM EDIT: Changed closed store total from 72 to 87, 12 of which are being turned into Babys R Us. Closing store list also updated.

1/13 3:30AM EDIT: Updated the closed store list. Added a note below about "fixture" sale information (which probably varies per store on how they go about selling the stuff off).

1/13 11:45PM EDIT: Updated the closed store list. Added news on possible console discounts.

1/16 3PM EDIT: Looks like Reality's Fringe was right on a nation-wide clearance increase, so thanks to him for the head's up!

1/16 11PM EDIT: Complete closing store list added!

2/9 7:30PM EDIT: Updated %s

I walked into work today for my paycheck and to price adjust some games, and one of the managers took me aside, gave me some paperwork and told me our TRU (Bellingham, WA) along with 72 others are being closed, effective tomorrow. Well, at least my store tomorrow, but I assume everyone else is in the same boat. The earliest they will actually close their doors is Feburary 27th, so there will be plenty of time to take advantage of the sale.

According to the manager, everything will be clearanced for the closing sale starting tomorrow, and only a few things will not be part of that, being video game hardware. I asked about games and she said she didn't know. I don't know exactly what the clearance is going to start at, but I would say 30% (what the GT sale usually starts at) would be a good guess.

If you bought anything from a closing TRU before today and you want to return, exchange, price adjust, whatever, you can still do so. But: everything bought from here on out CANNOT be returned. If they are like my store, they take a big black marker and cross out the UPC. They do this so you cannot return it to another TRU. I didn't get the whole speech, so exchanges may be okay, but no more returns, no more price adjustments.

Also: all TRU coupons, sales, price drops, whatever are no longer valid at the closing stores, since they are not really TRUs anymore.

If not already, you should be seeing soon some sort of poster, fill-out form, whatever in your TRU about selling the fixtures, etc. This includes video game display posters, standees, the playable game set-ups, etc. At my store, it was a cardboard kisok thing with a form you filled out with your contact info and what you want, and they'll contact you with a price. Don't know what things will go for, but you may or may not be able to score some cool stuff.

Hempstead, Long Island TRU is now 50/70, and the store has sure taken a pounding. Everything has been moved near the front of the store, and most of the VGs are also gone. Among the noteworthy games left:

Tons of Polarium, Gunstar, Poker GBA, Shark Tale PS2, and F-Zero GBA (sorry Spaz, I didn't see your post)
Psychonauts XB (picked up for $15)
Maximo (picked up for $5)
Tons of GT4, not sure why, this wasn't clearanced, right?
ONE TAIKO DRUM MASTER - I decided against purchasing it, its $25, and I left the store at 5:00 pm Sunday, so you still may have a shot if you want it.
A couple of Jade Empire LE, Destroy All Humans, Trace Memory, Nanostray, other very random games.

Store looked way different than the first time I visited two weeks ago at 20%, and I had been eyeing a bunch of Mario and Luigi DS's, but they were long gone. Lesson learned - don't wait till 50% off unless the game you want has no chance of selling (i.e. poor Psychonauts).

Well if anybody sees them at 50% off or more, I'd love a Polarium and Tony Hawk for DS. At 50% I guess they'd be $5 and $15 respectively, so I'd trade (generously) for them or pay cost plus shipping plus a little extra, so around $28 I guess. If anybody sees them for those prices just send me a PM and we can work something out. Help a fellow CAG! :p

Heres my haul. total was about $53

Triggerman $2.50. Sold it for $9 at local cd store
DBZ Saga $5. Sold it at local CD store for $15

Taiko Drum Master $25 (very fun!)
FF IV Advance $15

My fiance also bought me Intellevision Lives! which kinda sucks due to the controls but its nice to have. She also got Trace Memory for $15.

My buddy finally got Maximo 1 for 5 bucks and hes wondering how the hell he didnt enjoy it the first time he played it.

Fairfield, CA is at 40% off games. PS2/GC sections have a handful of crap games, Xbox I didn't check, GBA has some Dual Masters, Gunstar Heroes and a whole lotta World Championship Pokers, Nintendo DS has Spiderman and Tony Hawk. Oh yes, there are still plenty copies of Baten Kaitos (GC), but I didn't check if the price had been lowered.

Has anyone been to the Vallejo TRU lately? I'm too lazy to drive over there, plus if it's as picked clean as Fairfield then I may as well save myself the effort.
yeah, got Baten Kaitos for $6 at Signal Hill, they got hella copies

other than that, all the same ish as Brea
is signal hill 40% now?

Duluth MN TRU is now 50% off games and 70% off accessories. Its also closing in 6 days. Still had some decent DS stuff repriced a lot of stuff to so they are more expensive then a week ago. They had Baiten Kaitos at 30 before discount and they had Battalion Wars like 5 copies since someone had asked about that. I was tempted to get a couple newer games but I realized I can wait a few months to get them when I have the actual time to play them.
Dragon booster is your standard kiddie crap DS game, got less than a 4 (out of 10) on most rating sites, might be worth picking up for like 9.99 though for the collection. Its based off an ABC family show i believe, i watched the show once and its your typical new style kiddie crapola show.

Ok, i just stopped at the niagara falls TRU, tons of copies of polarium for 6.99 each (i picked one up for myself) and a few final fantasy crystal chronicals left also for 6.99.

The DS games have reappeared, however now the PS2 games have dissappeared, they also had a cart of ps1 games, probably nothing worth picking up though. This store really is a mixed bag, i am not sure whats going on, there were no DS games the last time i was there now there are some.

Also XBOX 360 ALERT: This store has a few copies of FIFA and Project Gotham racing, they are in the case i mentioned earlier so you will have to get a staff member if you want to purchase one of these games.

The prices are still at 30-50 % off, store is still packed with merchandise in general,
:bouncy: They should just drop a bomb on the whole Niagara falls area! That tru and the mall is a complete dump! Most of the people working at that toys r us are idiots, and the guy from the liquidation company can blow me. I grabbed about 100 games when they had their computer error and games were ringing up at 70% off. Ha Ha take that White Trash Liquidation Guy from Toys R Us! I went back to get some psp games and they threw me out. They have never updated their stock or prices of games that were marked down either. Oh and thanks for putting all the good games in a glass case, that's really smart! I really feel like asking the poor employees to go through each one and price check them. Good luck moving all those gran turismo 4's for $49.99 even at 30% off. Also, why the hell don't they mark the games to 40% off like every other toys r us in the world that's closing. I'll tell you why, BECAUSE THEY SUCK! The only reason that store has so much crap left is because no one in Niagara falls has any money to buy anything, that's what you get when your divorced 3 times and have 6 kids AND LIVE IN A TRAILOR PARK! I'll really miss the pot holes in the parking lot too. :bouncy:

Pretty much picked clean. Nothing of note to pick up other than Psychonauts

Drove by Cambridge, MA location last night and their sign says "50%-70% off". Will most likely stop by today and see what they have left.
Second on Tyson's being picked clean. As of this post, it's 50/70 with 7 days to go.
Seriously, don't even bother going.
Hmm...when did that happen? That was quick for Tyson's. So not even Phantom Dust or Psychonauts......

Didn't see either psychonauts or Phantom Dust. What I saw was a crapload of poker for the GBA and about a freaking million Baiten Kaitos.

Oh- there was Tony Hawk and Spiderman for the DS too. Not what I'd call prime finds.

Hmm no one told me about this computer error, was it something that just happened for a day.

The niagara falls area does suck, i already know this so there is no reason to rub it in. The people here spend their money on drugs and crap like that so they dont have any money to spend at TRU(also people having no money for anything is a problem), i went to TRU one time during the day and there was like 3 people in the store (this is during the closing sale), thats usually how it is in that TRU other than the holiday season.

With the rate they are going with that store, and the amount of merchandise left in it its gonna take them till about christmas time to get rid of it all. I dont know why they dont just ship all the merchandise from this store to one that is more populated, for everything to sell at the niagara falls store the prices would have to fall to around 5$ or less an item and fat chance i can see that happening.

The only good thing about this location is they dont even bother to mark the items with permanent marker or tear off the shrinkwrap from the UPC code on the games.

I still haven't made it out to go see my nearest closing TRU at Brea, is that store even still open? (traffic on the 57 is so terrible, I'm debating whether or not to try to even get there after work...)

Hoping to snag a FFIV advance or something like that RPG-wise. (Will definitely reimburse any of you who can find one!!)

They're out of everything good @ Brea except for psychonauts for Xbox, Gunstar for GBA, and Tony Hawk for the DS.

There are a ton of those PS2 surround sound/LCD TV things there and xbox dance pads.

Commack, LI store is also 50/70 (surprising since just a couple of weeks ago, according to OP, it was 20/40). Once again, the store was trashed, same old items were available, nothing special.

Do you think they're worth what they're charging? (How much are they?)

Mine is so dumpy.... WHY DO THEY HAVE TO CLOSE?!?!

*cries*

We have TWO in Western Mass and like 45 in Eastern MA and they close the good one in Western Mass... assholes.

Anyways...

Polarid or whatever the DS puzzle game is called was $5, Metriod Prime Pinball and Trace Memory were 50% of $35.

They had at least a hundred Baten whatever it is called for the GC, but it was still $25.

They also had some cheap, cheap PS2 DDR pads, no price through.

Oh and they had a GBA Poker game for $3, but I still thought that was a ripoff, and this Pinball game, worth which I heard were terrible.

Do they have original MS S xbox controllers?
Polarium is $15 at Target.
And $5 at mine which is closing.

TH would be like $17.

I work at the Amherst TRU and we were told they were gnna ship the merch over to us but thats not going to happen any more. Ill have to run my employee discount through for another 10% off, Ive been meaning to go there to get some PSP games. Any left Sara?
Is tony hawk DS regular $35 at TRU? I was assuming it was $30.
At the local closing TRU it's $29.95 (+discount), although they moved a bunch of them out to the shelf last week and they mismarked half of them $19.95 so I picked up one for $11.97. :)

In the last a few days, will the price drop go beyond 50/70?
Some third party controllers are not good deals even at 70% off IMO

The Cambridge, MA location is pretty much ransacked. A ridiculous amount of copies of Baten Kaitos were left. Other than that it is pretty bleak. If I have time (and the motivation) I'll check the other locations around the Boston area if others haven't already.

Hmm i did see a few psp games (could have been umd movies as well) but i think they are in that glass case, probably not many left by this time though. They did have xbox 360 fifa and project gotham racing the last time i was there (there were a few copies of each of these so you probably still have a chance).

Springfield, PA is at 50% for games, 70% for guides and mostly 30% for the rest of the store.

I went down last week, but the discount on games was only 30%-40% then. I went down yesterday and was very tempted to buy a copy of Psychonauts, as well as Baiten Katos for $15 each.

However, I DID get a copy of GUN for GC for only $14.97. They also have a number of 'multi- AV switchers' which are made in the Xbox style, with the discount they're $20.

They also have a slew of copies of Taiko Drum Master, for around $49.99 each(before discount).

BTW, this is the LAST week for the Springfield, PA store. I may go back close to weeks end, since their discount may jump to 70-90% before then.

I wouldn't mind snagging a copy of either Baiten Katos or Psychonauts for 3-5 bucks.

Last week for the Brea TRU as well. I need me that extra 10%+ to buy TH: DS. I'll probably pick up gunstar either way though.

any systems left?

Anyone interested in Baten Kaitos w/ sountrack ? I plan to go to my TRU tomorrow and see if there are any left. I saw a bunch this past weekend for $7.00. Thought I'd see if I could help out a few CAGs. I would have to add on cost for tax, packaging, and shipping... of course. PM me if interested.

The Tampa, FL TRU is still 50% to 70% off with 5 days to go. Almost the entire store is closed off and only the area rear the registers is accessable.

They still had HUGE stacks of Gunstar Super Heroes (GBA), Texas Hold 'Em (GBA), Pinball Tycoon (GBA), Polarium (DS), Dragon Booster (DS), and Baten Kaitos (GC) [almost 100 of them!!!],

They had a handful of Ultimate Spider-Man (DS), Tony Hawk's American Sk8land (DS), Jak 3 (PS2), Dora the Explorer (PS2), TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (Xbox), and EyeToy AntiGrav (PS2) left. No more Taiko Drum Master.

The games have been moved right next to the customer service desk, so the person who missed them when they were there might not have checked that spot or maybe they had just moved them from the floor that day as they're all there now.
5 more days at the Wheaton, MD store. Not much in terms of games. I did find a 360 Hard Drive and 2 Premium Gold packs.
Lucky mofo man, i gotta head over to wheaton ASAP, hopefuly friday

Yeah..it might be YMMV... but I bought one myself so I know its possible.

Just an FYI, they have started to sell the display systems and stands at the bridgeton store. My friend picked up the xbox one for 200. Does that seem like a good deal to you all.

I thought so. It had the system and the TV with two controllers.
Yeah..it might be YMMV... but I bought one myself so I know its possible.
some stores price it as the normal baiten kaitos ($9.99)
other stores do not that's why it was $30

Duluth, MN is 60/70, it's pretty bare, though. Still some Micros left, several DS games including Tony Hawk. PS2 is pretty well gone, as are the GC games, though they did still have Battalion Wars.

Got battlefield combat ps2 for 15.98 spartan toal warrior xbox for 20, psychonaut xbox for 11.98. polarium & retro classic ds for $4 each. All games are on 60% off. The store will be closed in 4 days. I am wondering what they will do on the last day with all games left? 90% off???
that will be nice.
