Hey guys about over a month ago 8BitWonder had a lowball sale and I won a Jill Valentine figure. Well I paid via paypal and was patiently waiting. Well about 2 weeks ago I tried to contact to see what was up with the slow shipping. The 2 weeks has since passed and I have not heard a thing. I have already contacted Shrike about the issue to get 8Bit on a trade timeout.

I just started this thread so that everyone could be made aware of the situation and to get anyone else to come forward that has been scammed. So please everyone else that was scammed please speak up so we can try to get this resolved.

Also would like to note that the TL in question has the title "Please Delete". The user has not been on since 6/28 and that is not a good sign.

EDIT: dv8mad was correct. 8Bit did have 2 threads. Here is the one I was talking about this one does have the bids and everything. I retract my previous statement.

Looks like some pretty active traders got ripped besides bryenfury and myself. I see Hero101, Shady, adriley, schuerm, puppetyuber, on there as well as having won items.

People who are out money:

If anyone else is out please post here or PM me so we can tabulate how many. I will also PM people that won the auctions to see if they paid so we can get this calculated as fast as possible.

Sad if he would burn up his good rep on something stupid like this, but, correct me if I'm wrong... Wasn't that locked list the one advertising the sale and then he locked and started a new thread for the actual sale?
Also, I could have sworn I remembered seeing his post at one point saying that he was going to ship everything after all the payments had been received. I hope that that isn't that case, because it's not in everyone's best interest to have to wait for a couple slackers to pay until they can get their stuff.
Hopefully things work out and there is just a big misunderstanding.

That looks very bad on him...

People don't understand, when trading, communication is key. Then they wonder when they slack off and people accuse them of scamming.

I agree with you. That just looks bad on him. He hasn't been on since the 27th. Looks like he is trying to hide, and avoid this to me. I hope that isn't the case. I would send him a message on xbl when he is on, and see If he suddenly signs off then. Also his address is in that thread of his. Not to wise of him to put the address in his thread, and rip people off. I don't see how people like him can sleep at night or look in the mirror. I hope it eats him alive until he does the right thing. Maybe a stupid/crazy idea,but there should be some money donation program to the people that get ripped off each year. It seems to happen more, and more.
 
Back on topic I didn't send personal so hopefully paypal will rule in my favor.

I do not trade on GTZ so if anyone has an account on there and can contact some of those people that won items there and see if they got them yet I and some others would appreciate it.

I just checked his GTZ page and he was online this morning at 5:05AM so he is obviously OK.

That sucks ZxT! People may remember cheapfitzguy, a scammer extrordinaire who got me as well as several other unsuspecting CAG's....it pisses me off when I hear of someone getting scammed because it brings back bad memories....you should get right with Paypal on that refund.

I've always said I would never rip off anyone unless I was dead. Which is true. His xbl said he was on 17 hours ago last time I checked.
 
I try to remain positive too but when someone isn't on in that period of time but on other things it obviously makes me a little on edge.

I am a pretty patient person and pretty understanding. I hope that this is resolved positively.
 
Hmm, maybe that's why he was willing to take those bids from Sum41/Hollywood Undead?

Hope you guys get what you paid for, or at least get your money back.
 
I traded with 8bitwonder not to long ago and everything went smoothly. Hopefully everything works out for the people that paid already

Ah, didn't know there was a thread already open. I'll let bill decide if he wants to keep both or just one, I just wanted anyone who didn't know, to becareful.

Wow, I had the high bid on some items but was never PM'd that I actually won/owed anything so I never paid. I don't check those threads every day, so it's always nice to get a PM when I owe something.

from what I know, this guy has bad communication skills. In the past, we had a trade worked out but never finalized our trade because he didn't respond to my PMs anymore.

I tried to work out a deal with him before. He did take days upon days to respond between PMs, but everyone gets busy at some point or another.

I got my 2 items from him. One of the movies he sent me even had the wrong disc in it and he refunded me the cost. Seems alright in my books. He maybe just forgot about your order?
 
I am not the only one who has not heard anything. A few people here so far have responded as well as over on GTZ there are people that are saying that they did not get their stuff either.
 
I am still waiting for games which I won and paid right away from 8BitWonder and Shady3011's lowball sale. Apparently Shady3111 will try to ship out the game by the end of this week, which is the same thing he said for the past 2 weeks lol and 8BitWonder I have not heard from yet. I am in a process of moving, so I am scared those games won't make it on time! =(

I think that using a divorce as an excuse is not acceptable. It does not take you more than 15 minutes to go to the post office. He can do it 24/7 at any USPS location, almost every location has 24 hour shipping kiosks. People need to stop making lame excuses for their poor trading habits and send their shit out when they're supposed to. If your personal life is so hectic that you can't make a single shipment or be bothered with a response to a PM from another user maybe you should not be trading in the first place!

I fear the CAG Trading forum is beginning to kill itself. The scammer issue is popping up more and more. People are getting ripped off, CAGs are being rude to one another, and it seems as though the trading forum isn't as safe anymore.

I don't want to sound rude, but get used to it.
It's been like this, and unless some innovative crazy method is added, it will continue like this, and it's like this on EVERY site.
The only thing you can do to stay safe, is use paypal (not personal), have them send first (granted, you're higher feedback), and use your instincts. If it sounds too good, it probably is.

Granted, those are not scam free guaranteed methods, but they help.
It's online, you're going to have people around the world trading information, money, and items, you're always taking the risk when doing it, but that's what you sign up for when you decide to trade on a public online trade site, so there's always 100 risks you take.

I say we've been doing pretty good. We have spurts here and there of assholes trying to run off, but usually, we are fine and do out best to help those who are unfortunate.
 
Did anyone try contacting CAG member y2jd? He seemed to be helping 8bit with the Lowball sale. Maybe he knows what's going on?

Oh, trust me. I understand. I've been ripped off myself once on CAG, and twice on eBay in the last six months. My only point was that it is becoming more rampant.

Anyways, just thought I'd let everyone here know that if you contact the Tallahassee Police Department (assuming that is where he lives judging from the Facebook link above), you can file charges for interstate fraud/theft and they will either fine him up to $10K or arrest him (Florida state law). If any of you live in Florida, though, you can't file interstate theft as it only deals with theft across state lines.

You could maybe file a complaint with the IC3 (internet crime complaint center) at ic3.gov, but I do not think this counts as Auction Fraud because CAG is not a declared or registered auction site.

The Tallahassee PD will probably be your best friend right now, though. Did it to a guy in Cincinnati when I got jacked about 3 months ago. The guy had to refund my money (and the other eBay auctions he had frauded people on), and he got put in jail for a few days until he went to court and got hit with a $5,000 fine. Sweet justice.
