9 hours 9 Persons 9 Doors

I'm a nightowl by nature. Kinda struggling lately since this semester I had to take on all morning classes. But yeah, still kickin'.

I wonder what would happen if he didn't die at the beginning?
The whole game would have been over, right? Since it wouldn't have gone according to the plan and Junpei wouldn't have seen it as June had previously. Bamn.
She has another cute fever and disappears .

I'd be on ball for more merchandise. Still sad I missed that watch.

See you tomorrow

Well, that's the thing about digital roots:
9 and 0 both don't change the digital root, so they're basically interchangeable. The answers section of the web site had some info on who had what numbers, and the writer did say it could work out in two different ways.

I might be reaching...June mentioned she saw several versions of the future through Junpei. Then again, I guess the true ending is the only one that would have worked out.

I didn't see that part in the question/answer section on Aksys's website, must have missed it.

I remember that, and in the answers page he also brings up
129450789

I kinda have a problem with that though. It's suggesting both, and both numbers would fit and that's mentioned. But why have a puzzle that hints to
129450789
, but also explicitly say that it's the other way in the answers page x_x.

Should it be written off like the keycard issue with the pictures on it?
See 9, 46, 66. Although it's more ambiguous than I remember, rather than explicit.
I agreed with 9 and saw what they did there in 66.
I see what is being said with the two digits being interchangable.

It is interesting how the characters interpreted June as an upside down 6 and the safe solution mulitiplied by 9 made June's watch become 0.

This can also be supported by how Santa said that he wasn't zero, which could mean he was indirectly saying he was 9.

Depending on how you interpret what Santa is saying as he claims to be just an assistant of Zero.

I didn't even think about the keycard/picture puzzle. It would have been interesting and more difficult if you didn't already know about the characters.

Bump to keep this alive.

You know it would be awesome if there was a manga of 999. I so would buy a graphic novel of this series, especially if it was set as a prequel during the first nonary game and a sequel that would explain what happened after the second nonary game.

Don't really want to triple post. A thread on the 999 message boards of Gamefaqs indicates that there's supposedly a secret in this game that hasn't been discovered yet. I wonder what it could be?

I wonder if there was a chance of several other players in this. Also, how the hieroglyphics book in the Captain's quarters and All-Ice/Alice's coffin play into this game.

I picked this game up when Amazon had it on sale during Black Friday week. I just finished with my first play through, wow, what a great game. I don't think a game has drawn me in like this since Hotel Dusk. The only complaint I had was that it felt like you don't control quite enough in the game, so much of the game progresses without much input from the player. But other than that it was excellent, the story, the characters, the mood, all great. Looking forward to playing through again, then after that I'll probably use a guide to get the rest of the endings.

If anyone hasn't picked this up yet, you really need to, it's without a doubt one of the best experiences on the DS.

Finished my 5th play-through of the game late last night and got the true ending. The story got better and better with each play-through, though replaying the puzzles did get a little tiring. I was surprised by how long the ending of the true ending was, I thought I was within 10-15 minutes of the end around 11:30pm last night and didn't actually finish until 1:30am. I thought they did a great job of tying the story together in the end, though I felt like it could have gone a little bit further at the end, and they could have shortened up a few things earlier in the ending. This may be my favorite game I've played on the DS, again if you haven't played it yet and have any interest at all in this genre of game, you need to play it.

I thought the dialogue between Junpei and June before going down the elevator when he thought she was talking about being alone with him in the elevator was hilarious.

I saw some people complaining about the final puzzle being a sudoku puzzle that was too easy but I thought it was brilliant, by that point in the game I had grown tired of the puzzles and the last thing I would have wanted was to get stuck on a puzzle and disrupt the telling of the story ending.

The one area of the story that I felt wasn't fleshed out enough at the end was Lotus. It never really explained why she was there and gave any finality to her story. I know her daughters were in the original Nonary game but it still needed a little more.

I completely missed that the girl along the side of the road at the end was supposed to be Alice. I thought it was a younger version of Lotus, which didn't really make sense but I thought maybe it was something leading into a potential sequel.

My last complaint was that your choices during the game don't impact the outcome as much as you think when you're playing through without a guide, then when you use a guide you realize it's not as complicated as it seemed.

Yeah, seriously. I was expecting something quick considering all of the previous endings, but the True Ending didn't disappoint.

Everybody loves that elevator dialogue. Although I personally thought it went on a bit too long. Kinda lost the comical value midway through.

I've never done a sudoku puzzle faster in my life.

Lotus is supposedly being expanded upon in the next-gen version. I dunno about Seven though. I mean, that guy wasn't even give a name.

Alice was just strange. And got even stranger when you read the reason she was put in there on the Q&A page on Aksys's website.

Same here, I knew there wasn't a timer on the puzzle but I was frantically trying to get it done.

I thought Seven was explained well enough, even if he wasn't given a name. The thing I found a little odd was the explanation in the Q&A for his amnesia having to do with a false memory being implanted in his brain because the Akane from the past hadn't actually died. That whole explanation just seemed strange, it made sense to me that he would remember it that way until Junpei succeeded.

I have one more thing that I don't quite get. The game is supposed to be an exact replica of what happened 9 years earlier, right? Who were the three people who died, other than Akane? One would had to have been one of the other children, right? But what about the other two? This was never addressed anywhere, was it?

Wow, this really is a fun game, even though text scrolling is a pain. Sticking with Seven and Lotus revealed a lot about them, though my first playthrough I learned little about my teammates since I kept mixing up my party. Seven is definitely my favorite character so far.

I don't think anyone died in the first game except Akane, least that was my impression when I played. I remember Santa saying something like that when he pulled out a picture of his sister looking at that he was thinking about her. She had died according to him.

This was in that room with the gold/silver/bronze gears. Think it was called the boiler room where you put coal in three giant furnaces. I might be mixing up things, but I remember he said one of the reasons he called himself Santa was to give the gift of revenge on those who killed her sister.

I don't really get how people thought Seven was lying about Akane surviving. Figured it was just a blank in his memory loss that was later filled/recalled. Was his amnesia caused by the change in history or for being knocked out and put in the prison like part of the ship during the first nonary game?

What were everyone's real names? I never really remembered their real names:
Ace = (I already forgot)
Snake =
Santa =
Clover = Clover
Junpei = Junpei
June = Akane
Seven = unknown
Lotus =
I could never spell their names so I ended up forgetting these:
9th man =
Guy X =
Cap'n =
I still like the 9th man, but Santa comes close.

I can't remember the real names, either.
The theories I've read are either that Seven's amnesia was caused by Santa when he captured him for the second nonary game or that Seven never actually had amnesia and he was in on the planning of the nonary game with June and Santa. But the way the game played out it doesn't seem to really fit that he was faking the amnesia.

I think Seven was my favorite character, I thought the way his story played out was done really well.

The sequel looks like it's going to be good, though the characters look a little too similar to the first game and a couple a little too bizarre.
It is interesting, however, that Clover and Alice are in the game and that the game takes place a year after they met in Nevada, which I assume is supposed to be right after the first game ended. Hopefully this means that somewhere along the way this game is going to tie together the ending of the first game somehow.

So, I just finished my second play through and somehow got the Perfect Ending. I wasn't even aiming for it and was just choosing different choices than that of my first play through. Not complaining though, but would have loved to get the other endings beforehand. I absolutely loved the game and the ending was great.
I have to say, the whole Alice thing in the Desert blew my mind and was a big 'WTF' moment. Hopefully they expand on it in the sequel seeing as she and Clover will be in it.

I need to get myself a 3DS when the sequel is released in the states. x.x

^You must have gotten the "Safe" ending on your first playthrough. Congratulations. I'm still on the fence on whether to get this on the Vita or the 3DS.

^Oops just noticed my previous post. I meant the sequel to 999.

Double post for awesomeness!

The sequel to Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors is being published by Aksys for the North American release at the end of this year. Can't confirm until I get my a copy of Nintendo Power at the end of this month.

http://www.siliconera.com/2012/02/2...ture-good-people-die-headed-to-north-america/

Now I just need to save enough money to buy the game and a 3DS, especially if the Vita version doesn't make it to the North American region. Got to figure out a way to save at least $250 by 2013 for this.

I was just going to come post this! I'm so excited now. It looks great! I'm probably just going to get it for the 3DS since I need to get one for KH: 3DS anyways. I'm glad Aksys is localizing again. ^^

Looks like the sequel to 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors has had a name change for the U.S. release from "Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die" to "Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward."

There's going to be a 3DS version as well as a Vita version release in the U.S. region.

Edit: Now I'm going to have to decide whether to get a 3DS or Vita by the end of this year.
