This just came in on the intranet this afternoon. Starting tomorrow (2-9), all green tagged items will now be reduced 90%.

Odds are, there isn't much good stuff left...but what IS left will be $1-4, so some of that junk might be worth looking into.

Anyone got anything from S. California TRU ? So far I havnt seen anything good at TRU near by ...... =(
Nada, I've been to Woodland Hills, Thousand Oaks, and Ventura Toys R Us's. Than again so cal is huge, and you might not even live by those stores. My friend in Bakersfield said there's a lot of stuff there.
Well I've been to 9 TRU's in Socal, I'll list some highlights I picked up:

Wednesday:
Bell Gardens had .hack//Outbreak, Gladius Xbox
Montebello had D&D Eye of the Beholder GBA, Stake Xbox
Huntington Beach had Phantom Crash Xbox
Santa Ana had the usual Eternal Darkness, Perfect Dark....
Tustin had Wild Arms 3, Metal Dungeon Xbox, Dino Crisis 3 Xbox, Quake 3 DC
Anaheim Hills had Resident Evil 2 N64
My last stop on Wednesday was La Mirada at around 5pm I wasn't even going to go since I was pretty tired, but luckily I stopped by because they had Xbox LCD Screen, VCR in a bag, Lufia GBA, and a DVD Home theatre system for $17. Someone else had come in earlier and cleaned out the Xbox games but luckily left me those items.

Thursday
Cerritos had PSO v2
Torrance had Beyond Good & Evil Xbox, Shenmue 2 Xbox, Goblin Commander Xbox,

Those were just some of the highlights, almost every store had Eternal Darkness, Gladius GC, Perfect Dark N64, tons of PS1 green tag games, Primal PS2.

The first rule about CAG is that you don't talk about CAG. [-X :whistle2:# :ziplip: :censored:
Isn't it good if people know about CAG? I don't really know, but doesn't the site make money when we click through to EB, BB, Gamestop, etc. -through CAG -O- Matic and the deal links? Its good it keeps the site free for us.

Obviously we don't want to discuss it with store employees or managers.

I think they're joking about not talking about it.

Your right its good for Mr. & Mrs. Cheapy but if you have been here for anytime you will start to realize the bigger it gets the harder it becomes for a single CAG to gain anything. Normally the hoarders surf the site and gobble everything up.

Back in 03 it was a totally different site.

Okay, I switched the new cases with imperfect ones before I trade in (like was suggested here).

My question is: one of the games I picked up was R:Racing Evolution for GC and it came with Pacman Vs. I was thinking about changing the case to a single-game case and using the double case for one of my games (and keeping Pacman in the process).

Would EB notice if the contents don't match the SKU? Also, the rating is E-T instead of T becuase of the inclusion of Pacman. Can't decide whether to try it or not...

One of the best bargins I've ever got, hands down. I picked up a LOT of stuff for my brother and I. Prices are after employee discount of course.

Video Games:
-Fighting Force (PS1)- $1.35
-Primal (PS2)- $1.35
-Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (PS1)- $1.35
-Backyard Wrestling (Xbox)- $1.79
-Gladius (Gamecube)- $4.50
-Gundam Battle Assault 2 (PS1)- $1.80
-Virtua Tennis (Gameboy Advance)- $.90
-Tomb Raider (PS1)- $.90
-Tomb Raider 3: Adventures of Lara Croft (PS1)- $.90
-WWE: Road To Wrestlemania (Gameboy Advance)- $1.35
-Dino Crisis (PS1)- $1.35
-Gameboy Advance Pro Gamers Kit (case/stuff)- $.90

Toys/Non-game items:
-Harry Potter: Basilik Playset- $.90
-Masters of the Universe: He-Man (Samurai)- $.90
-Masters of the Universe: Skeletor (Samurai)- $.90
-Masters of the Universe: (Samurai)- $.90
-Medabots: Medabee Model Kit- $.36
-Medabots Battle Arena Playset- $.36
-6 packs of "two pack" Medabots figures- $.27/each
-Zoids Basic Assortment (crab?/wind up model)- $.36
-The Simpsons: Military Shop w/ Herman- $1.80
-The Simpsons: Trailer w/ Homer + Lurleen- $1.35

I think total I spent around 33-34 dollars :)

The TRU in Fort Smith, Arkansas is cleaned out. Not a thing left.

They did have e-reader cards and stuff but not worth it unless you are driving by or have an e-reader.

I went Wednesday. They had quite a few games. I got a few of them to trade in. Today it was bone dry. They also had taken their PS2 screens off the shelves. Pulled the tags off the hooks and hid them I guess.

I did get a PS1 multiport for $2. But it was the last one. They had GBA cables. The ones you connect multiple GBAs together with. For $.20 or .30 I don't remember. I only got one though. I think I'll stop by sometime and grab a few more. If not oh well not any kind of loss.

It pisses me off that they had tons of stuff that was listed on the 50 and 70% off sales but now the tags are gone and they don't ring up as if they were tagged. Definately YMMV. Bah I hate this place. At least I got something.

The line is from Fight Club, and yes, it tends to be a joke, most of the time.

The real issue we run into is not that we don't want to give CheapyD referrals on items through link clickthroughs, it's more that some asshat from Fatwallet or Slickdeals posts it to the respective site and next thing you know, there's 25 copies of MGS3 on eBay, bought at $19.99.

The last thing I'd do is deprive CheapyD of his livelyhood, though it's more a matter of having the dregs of society fsck-up a deal we'll all be cool on. Usually FW or SD folk that do it, though occasionaly, it's some of our own that tanks it for us. :cough: Hastings :cough:

I bought a ton of first gen PS2 demo discs for .25 each. Cheaper and of better quality then buying blank DVD cases lol. I'm going to replace my cases and donate what's left of the Jampacks to Goodwill where they'll sell for 2.50 until someone steals it.

Charlie, a friend to all.

Anyone get Wario Ware GC as part of this clearance sale?

Is this game also green tagged? Because they have a couple in my store today.
Shrike I believe your thinking of Wario World that was on the Green Tag sale then was taken off of it. Wario Ware I think still sells for $29.99 at TRU & has never been a part of the Green Tag sale.

CAG isn't CheapyD's livelihood; if I remember correctly, his day job is working for a charity in New York.

That said, why complain? There's nothing we can do unless he decides to do something like create a private deals forum, and that would just cause too much conflict amongst the site's users. Beyond that, it's not fair. The site's purpose is to find sales on video games, and that's what it does.

It's frustrating not to find these sales, yes, but you can't win them all. Getting lucky on some of these sales, even if it's only partially lucky - like my finding good games at TRU but none of the ones that I set out to look for - can we really complain?

It's not that I'm truly complaining that we should have a private deals forum, or anything like that, it's more that I've seen plenty of deals go tits-up in some way because the ravenous hordes of FW & SD go out and ruin it. That's my opinion, and CAG does do what it's meant to do, find cheap games. IMHO, when it's used as a way to deprive others from taking advantage of it by having large amounts of those games go onto eBay or whored out for some ugly profit. Again, IMHO, and I'm not frustrated when I can't find the sale, it's more that I could've found the sale if it wasn't for some guy who cleaned out the whole store, or something like that. Then I have an issue with it.

Yep, Store here in Central Florida brought out about 15 games at 2pm Friday afternoon... I pretty much followed the girl back to the game section because I was wondering what she was up to. She put prices up for a few GBA games and then dropped a load of XBOX/PS2 games on the shelf!

Nothing major but great EB stuff!! :)
Another important note:

A TRU employee told me that they are still getting some green tag stuff in there shipments. He said its rare, but they are still getting this in the shipments.

I know this may be a bug YMMV, but its interesting for those who haven't gotten much. Maybe they will luck up! Or not....
megashock5, i switched the cases for R:Racing and kept pac man VS, so i could trade in my copy and keep the brand new one, and it worked just fine. I was also talking to one of the EB employees about what all they take in trade and since R:racing was right there in front of me i asked if they would take pac-man VS without boxart and they said that they would.

so maybe this was known to others but its kinda like a buy one R:Racing for 1.50 and trade in both discs for 10$
if only there were extra copies around...

this maybe a stupid question but does anybody know the trade-in value at gamerush for primal? I got an extra copy for a buddy but he already rushed out to TRU and got his own and i want to rid my collection of the extra title.

I'm glad i got to my TRU when i did (for my second load) today. They had a shopping cart set aside that was full of greentags, but with no sign on it. Right after I got the 10 or so games out that i wanted for EB trade fodder, some dildo meathead guy comes up and grabs THE ENTIRE CART and pushes it to the register. Well, to anyone who cares, the Tucker, GA TRU had a great selection until about 11 am today....now there's not shit.

Now I know where to go to steal Jampacks. Thanks, friend!

Will check out the Hattiesburg store tomorrow, hoping to pick up at least one item from them, if not all is still well, made a nice score here in Mobile before certain items were pulled and retagged

Maybe this has been mentioned....maybe not...
I was able to get old PSM, OPM, and XBN mags (including demo discs!) for $0.40 and $0.80 each! I got 4 or 5 mags at these prices, so check your TRU's mag section for old issues - they might be cheap!

My TRU is pretty much bare now. They really didn't have anything. But I did pick up a few EB game fodder.

Ejay Clubworld - $1.00
Wipeout Fusion - $2.50
Universal Studios - $3.00

I was planning on buying the PS2 speakers, but the jerks ripped off the green stickers. Oh well, time to head over to EB.

I went to the Evansville IN, and Owensboro KY TRU stores today and all the green tag games for every system are GONE. NADA, nothing left. Well, the Evansville TRU had a couple of PS1, Dreamcast, and an N64 game or two with green tags on them, but that's it.

Remember fellas, there is a difference between the green tag video games and the other clearance video games....it is a matter of 90% off or a YMMV deal dependent on the store

I went to the Pineville, NC location today. None of the games had green stickers or anything, just regualr sale signs where they were on selves.

They had plenty of RE:CVX on PS2 and quite a few Drakes. They had some Sword of Mana's on GBA for around $10 (I don't know if it's officially part of this sale, but it seemed like a decent price to me).

The only thing I picked up was the last copy of Baldur's Gate (GCN) for $4.

:!: !!GREAT NEWS/IMPORTANT INFO FOR EVERYONE!! :!:

countering everyone's belief that this deal is strictly a YMMV deal (even mine) I found important info against this statement. Let me explain:

Today I headed off for my daily (3rd day in a row) TRU 90% shopping spree. I went over to the counter with a huge stack of games that were green tagged and aasked the employee if there were any games not on the shelves. He then just said to "use this" as he handed me a sheet of paper. The paper was a printout of everything green tag priced in the game store. It's following text was like this:

Item number----Name of Item----Original Price----Amount Avilable.
123456-----------PS2 PRIMAL------9.98--------------1

Now, i noticed that almost all the games that everyone has gotten a deal on were on the list. The only exclusions that did not show up on the list were games that they had no inventory or on shelf copys for that certain TRU. Each store will have the same list, but without the games listed if they don't hold any copies. Now... Almost the whole list of games that were 90% off were not green tagged (as in no green pricetag was placed on them). I loaded up on Haven, Primal (no surprise there), Mojo (again, no surprise), as well as alot of other crap games.. but some worthwhile.

So I say this. If you got a deal on something and it has not been stated before, post it that it was green tagged. Also, items not green tagged IN-Store are still 90% if they are on the official TRU 90% list. I couldn't take the list, but at least i saw it.

I will post what I got and what I can remember what I saw on the list:

What I have (officially 90%):
Legend of Legia 2 - PS2
Unreal Championship - XBOX
Dark Angel - PS2
Mojo! - PS2/XBOX
Wild Arms 3 - PS2
Frequency - PS2
Haven - PS2
Alter Echo - PS2
Wipeout Fusion - PS2
Whiplash - PS2
Mark of Kri - PS2
Red Faction 2 - PS2/XBOX
Primal - PS2
Aggressive Inline - PS2
RAD - PS2
New Legend - XBOX
Buffy the Vampire... - XBOX
Sneakers - XBOX
Zapper - GC
Celeb Death Match - XBOX
Space Invaders - GBA
Swingerz Golf - GC
Eternal Darkness - GC

What I can remember from game list:
Shenmue II - XBOX
Fatal Frame - XBOX
King of Fighters 00/01 - PS2
Gauntlet: Dark Legacy - XBOX
Links (cant remember year... 04 maybe) - XBOX
XIII - PS2
Call of Duty (cant remembr if on list) - PS2
Transworld Snowboarding - XBOX
Tony Hawk 3 - XBOX
Fighter Maker 2 - PS2
can't remember the rest... only can remember the ones semi-important to me... very long list.

Also... some other tasty curiouse info:

On the list I saw the following (quantity and item # not real)

Item number----Name of Item----Original Price----Amount Avilable.
123456-----------PS2 9.99----------9.99--------------41
123456-----------PS2 14.99---------14.99------------50

If my guess is right, all $9.99 priced games are 90% off and $14.99 are also the same. If someone can check this out it would be great... test it out on Trigger Man. I also just noticed one of my recipts with "PS2 9.99" someone check it out if they can...

even more interesting I saw this also

Item number----Name of Item----Original Price----Amount Avilable.
123456-----------XBOX Platinum---14.99------------41

if my second guess is right, this is 90% off all XBOX Platinum hits... even on one of my reciepts it has "XBOX PLATINUM" on it... but i can't remember which game it was. If anone could test this out a good try might be with KOTOR.

hope this is good news for everyone :)

Rolento...great news...i am going to try having the people at my local TRU try scanning a few things non-greentag and see if they come up promo. Thanks for the heads up!
oh thank god!!! im goin to harrass the employees tomarrow. hopefully the red tag games i saw are also 90
if the red tags came up as 90% off OMG it's on!

i love reading CAG at work

I went again on my lunchbreak today to pick up some more EB fodder. Unfortunately, whereas there is a lack of CAG's in Montgomery, there's an abundance of Fat Wallet Nazi's. Somebody bought ALL of the Xbox screens at once, and fat Nascar tshirt wearing rednecks were digging through games for hording. My monopoly has thus ended. I'm checking out Dothan AL tomorrow, possibly getting an Xbox live kit and bike if they got it. On a side note, I got into an argument with a lady over Jack and Daxter, as she refused to give it to me for 2 bucks and claimed that it rang up $19.99. The manager ended up chewing her ass for not giving me what I had already paid for (I had gotten it with a ticket). I wanted to slap the weave off of her head, Hong Kong Fuey style.

Mojo Xbox was taken off the green tag list at my TRU - it used to ring up as "Value Software" or whatnot, but sure enough it was the full 9.99

I got a ton of the PS system carrying cases for $1 each though :)

Dave

I need to go check mine, which unfortunately is a half hour drive from me. I doubt I'll get anything good at this point, but it's at least worth a shot.

is my store the only one that changed previously green tagged items to red? cuz i walk in this morning expecting it all to be gone but the bin was still full?

The Turok games for the GameCube at my TRU are greentagged at $9.98. The Xbox version was tagged at $9.99, but now its red at $1.98.

i scanned a bunch of red tagged items at the tru in fl and they did not ring up on sale. have these items been added to the sale now? i scanned them the first day of the sale and they did not work. i guess i will have to try in the morning. i also picked up xiii yesterday and it rang up $4.98 with no promo.

the employees here are gald that i am clearing out the inventory for them, but i think that they secretly hate me. or maybe it's that they just hate having to take off all of those freaking plastic cases that the games are enclosed in.

oh yeah, is la pucelle tactics part of this sale? there are a few copies at my location, but they were ringing up as $17.98.

remember, the deal only appears when you ring up the total. fortunately the TRU employee I talked with memorized almost the entire list and even got me some games that hwere not put on shelves... so when you buy ur games make sure to ask if they have any in stock/inventory.
remember, the deal only appears when you ring up the total.
If you scan the game and it comes up 'PROMO,' it's part of the Green Tag 90% off sale.

its ymmv, i went to 4 tru's and only 1 store had 1 copy, i had it scanned and it was $25
