Pro-tip:

Whenever you get several thousand people together to protest, there are going to be extremist nutjobs there. Count on MSM to only focus on them as representative of the entire crowd.
People are scared of waiting exorbitant amounts of time for basic care.

For example, you might have to wait a year for an annual physical.

Also, universal health care push people to do preventative things instead of curative things.

For example, you might be told to walk a few miles a day to cure your erectile dysfunction instead of given a bottle of viagra and a girdle to hoist your belly up.
 I don't understand. I have been sick for around 2 weeks. So, I decided to call my Doctor on Friday. It was around 4pm (to get an appointment for Monday). Apparently they closed at 2pm.

I called yesterday, couldn't get through to the lines. I gave up, called around 4pm. I got an answering machine saying "The phones will be closed between 12-2pm". It was 4. So I call the non urgent number to leave a message. I still haven't received a call yet.

So, how would things be any different?

In the socialist system, you'll pay taxes instead of premiums and medical bankruptcy doesn't exist.

Protip: Maybe the group should come together and attempt to look sane, instead of blaming reporting outfits who focus on those nutjobs. It wouldn't be so bad if, say, you guys were just expressing dissent. Even extreme dissent. But you've got people who are showing up just to voice complaint about things for the pure hell of it, without taking even a single second to contemplate the issue at hand.

You're mad because your side is full of people proclaiming that healthcare is some form of nazism, and that makes lots of people simultaneously laugh and shake their heads in utter disappointment.

That's what happens when your leader is a total fear mongering extremist dickbag. It's even worse when he's only in it for the money, exploiting the whims of a bunch of scared people who are convinced a black man is going to destroy their proud country, somehow managing to miss the past eight years where that already happened.

Some dood walks by with a sign that says he'd like healthcare, and your boys spit on him, challenge him, threaten him, etc. And then all you do is whine about how GOLLY GEE I HATE HOW CNN MADE ALL THOSE PEOPLE BE THAT MEAN.

You're acting like we could have productive debate, argument, and discussion. We're so far beyond that, with a side who groups together gun rights and abortion with fantasies like death panels and the reincarnation of Hitler.

should have gone to urgent care and shouldnt wait 2 weeks before calling the doc

I'd like some more information on the changes to bankruptcy laws. Are you talking about the public option or a hypothetical "socialist" system?

Hypothetical "socialist" system aka the single payer systems the dozens of countries with better aggregate health than the US are currently using.

You can't go bankrupt because the government "pays" the bill.

Of course, the consumer pays the government back with taxes.

Oh I thought you were saying you could still accumulate massive debt from medical bills but the laws would eliminate your ability to declare bankruptcy.

That would be medical bankruptcy can't exist... not doesn't.

I'll throw in the towel first and post I don't get it, O great and powerful Strell.
Anyone else amused by the fact that the guy in Msut's video is an old white man?

Anywhoo, in regards to the photos, ten cents says I could likely find similar photos at Anti-Bush policy rallies from the past 8 years. Signs linking Bush to Hitler. Signs making fun of Bush's ears. Signs questioning Bush's legitimacy as President.

But those were okay, since Bush is white.
People tend to feel strongly about people dying. Who would have guessed that the death of thousands of American soldiers would be someone's "button"?

Hey, to all of you bitching about the protesters that marched on Washington on 9/12, at least these protesters didn't bust up your city. You take around 50 pictures of people and turn it into, "they are all idiots/racists/whatever." There's two million people. Of course there are going to be racists. Of course there are going to be total idiots. Of course there are going to be extremists. That doesn't mean that they all are that. At these type of protests there are always extremists. At the RNC, some of the far-left protesters there were not peaceful. They started busting shit up.

What? I seem to remember the news reporting 2 million people showing up. Nonetheless, in any protest like this, with this many people, you are going to have some wackos.

AFAIK, it was 60-70k. Still a good amount of people, but the 2 million was what the leader dude made up and attributed to ABC News. Seems like it got around, so he does his job well I guess.
It just shows that fullmetal will believe anything and everything that is reported without any sort of real research.
I guess you didn't see various media outlets reporting 2 million then, initially? In fact, let me point you in the direction of one. Type "2 million" into google.
Fifth result down should be this:
Up to two million march to US Capitol to protest against Obama's ...

Sep 16, 2009 ... As many as one million people flooded into Washington for a massive rally organised by conservatives claiming that President Obama is ...

Yeah, 2 million was reported initially, but the figure has been revised to be 1 million. I happened to not notice that the figure was revised, because I was only checking on Saturday.
I have as many as one million dollars in my wallet.
And why in the hell would a news outlet report "up to a million" people showed up if there was nowhere near that number? Does that make any sense?
And why in the hell would a news outlet report "up to a million" people showed up if there was nowhere near that number? Does that make any sense?
Because I have between 1 and 12 billion testicles (I wish I beat myke).

All the news agencies were originally reporting "tens of thousands" but like I said, the guy did his job well, the number got out there, regardless of its accuracy, and that's all that's required for it to spread around amongst the conservatives and then to news outlets.

They may be a little off, it might have been a little over 100,000 or something like that, but obviously nowhere near the figure the guy made up.
For the same reason they would report "two million."

It's there, it's easy, and it's cheaper than following up on it.
So I guess no one knows how many people were there then? Some say 60,000, others say 1 million, thousands, tens of thousands, 1.5 million. I would guess that it was at least a couple hundred thousand based on this photo alone.

ah I guess you're right, if you weren't there, then you can't question the number of people that were there.

I guess by that logic, you also can't say there were 1 million people, unless of course you were actually there.

that's unfortunate though, because I estimate there were infinite billion people there.

Jesse Ventura can count to two million.

He does it in seventy thousand chunks.
It's kind of hard to count when you weren't even there and you don't consider it a story.
It's kind of hard for me to believe the Berlin Wall got knocked down. I mean I wasn't there, and don't consider it a wall these days. How could it be a wall then? And thus, how could it be knocked down?

Gosh.

I find it just a tad hard to believe that this photo shows only 70,000 people

I also saw this pic:

capitol-view-lo-res.jpg

It looks like fullmetal's pic is the street on the right, and it doesn't look nearly as full in this one. People there said it filled the lawn and spilled over down to maybe 3rd street. There are obviously people lined in the middle, but I don't really know how well I could estimate the number since it's a thin line and it doesn't seem too dense as it goes back.

seriously who the fuck cares how many showed up. They weren't giving out tickets, they didn't count heads... does it seriously matter how many showed up?

Well obviously the larger the number they use the more popular they can say their cause is. People can't comprehend large numbers and if you can say 1 or 2 million people came you might as well say a gajillion, it's a big enough number that people will take it as a shit-ton and that's that.

you mean sheeple right? Not actual people...

even 2 million is a drop in the bucket compared to the population, and it's not even backed by fact, a wide estimation... ... more like assuming there were that many, because it felt like 2 million.
