A Closer Look at the PSP-2000 Redesign

CAGiversary!
The PSP-2000 Redesign Coverage Article

I've seen a lot of coverage of the PSP-2000 in text and video alike, but couldn't seem to find anything that actually had all the information in one place, with enough in-depth description to be informative.

So I decided "Hey, wait a sec... I have a website I occasionally neglect... why not whip up a PSP-2000 coverage article myself!" and whipped up this article. It's pretty much complete, but I would like to hear from you guys to know if I missed anything.

Do let me know if you see any major points I failed to mention in that article.

Has the screen been improved? My old PSP had pretty bad ghosting, and wasn't very bright compared to the DS light and my iPod, even on the highest setting I remember not being able to see properly in GTA when it was night in the game.

A very nice and well written article.

I have a question though, does anyone know if the new PSP's screen still sufffers from the glare problems when playing in sunlight?

Have you encountered it in any other game aside from GTA though? It's pretty bad in GTA, yet almost non-existent in all the other 50 something games I've played on PSP.

Judging by the incredibly glossy finish, I'm guessing a sunlight filter's still gonna be necessary for fighting the glare.

Bring an umbrella everywhere you go. Seriously, anything you use with a screen will be hard to see in sun light. Find a shaded area or go inside.

Is the silver material the same glossy pick up fingerprints like mad stuff or you won't have to wipe it every 5 seconds this time?

Also yes the ghosting was really bad. I noticed it when I first got it w/ my game Untold Legends in which you could swing the camera around your guy in a circle and you would get a full continuous ghost as big as your entire character the whole way.

progressive scan is hd. just because its not 1080p hd does not mean its not hd. its like you saying the wii isnt a next gen system. it is a next gen system, albiet an underpowered one at that.

HD is 720p/1080i or higher. 480p is ED (Enhanced Definition). Additionally since PSP games are natively 480x272 they will likely just be stretched to fill 480p while they will natively be 272p.

Updated it with a few new things:
• EU/JP Event info
• More features I missed out on
• Clarification of the "AV out issue" (HDTV/Component only for games, sorry)
• "Quick-List" Overview
• Side-by-side comparison pics

I just did a link to the comparisons because I didn't know if Famitsu copyrighted those pics or not, and I'm not totally sure if the source I got my EU release info from is right.

Do let me know if there are any errors (even spelling/grammar).
