A cornered Fox is more DANGEROUS than a Jackal! GGT #55

That's a good point. I called to ask the dullard at Gamestop if they knew if they were getting enough copies and he seemed completely lost as to what I was inquiring about... so I'm hoping that means that I'm not the person who gets screwed over.

Hopefully it's some fat kid holding an ice cream cone or a greasy, soft pretzel.
To me, the LE is a rip off, but whatever.
im thinking that too now...i was looking at the photos and thinking "thats it?"

i know its stupid but i never rly realized what was in the LE untill now

I like LEs. I don't get all of 'em, but if I have an opportunity and it's something I'm interested in, I'll bite usually. Mine's "paid off" with GS credit and such so I'm all good.

In fact, I popped in tonight on the way back from running an errand and confirmed with my local GS that I'm good to go for the midnight launch.

Even tried out that $20 GC coupon from this post/thread:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4468162#post4468162

and picked up SingStar PS3 on impulse.

Now I can rock out in-between MGS sessions, I guess. :p

all LE of games are ripoffs to me. I've done it once and realized it's shit. Only if I'm a hardcore insane freak I'll get a LE, but that's even stretching it. It's essentially making you buy paper for more than it's worth. even if it comes with a toy or whatever.

Best bet is to get regular edition and wait for LE to drop in price. I do say though that konami is known for their LEs to actually be limited, unlike all other LEs which totally fucks with the idea of actually being limited.

maybe FYE takes imports? who knows?

Pretty cynical view of LEs there, RR. To each their own, of course. :)

Doesn't estarland take imports in trade? I can't think of any other large company that does that.

I was able to trade in a region-free asia version of Marvel UA 360 @ GS, though.

they do, but they dont have mine listed or dont take them back anymore

 when you have alot of friends who do PR and Package Design you learn how shitty and how nice promos are.

I do say though that if you are a collector type, then yeah LEs are worth it. I just hate having too much stuff and become a pack rat like 90% of the gamers I know. And even the clean pack rats have a crazy ass amount of too much stuff at times, but whatever makes em happy :)

no offense to anyone... (I just alienated myself >_< )

Shun the outsider! Shuunnnnnn!

I still remember how many damn LE's they had of final fantasy XII, that was ridiculous!

Yeah, I hear you--clutter sucks as do many so-called "LE"s. I personally like 'em, but my actual collection of LE/SE is small.

I try to stick to stuff I'm interested in and weigh out the ending out-of-pocket costs with what is in the package or how limited it supposedly is.

And I miss out on many of 'em anyway. :p

Oh well, back to NG2--fun stuff so far!

Well, instead of finish up Ninja Gaiden last night, the wife and I watched some eps of The Office. While we did that, I just went through a few missions on Crisis Core. At level... 38 I think. I've got enough HP bonuses that I'm like 75 away from having 9999 hp, so, slick. :) I think I might make a run for the end. I'm part of the way through the 2nd to last chapter (just got done with the
sniper
part). Good game. Any GGTer want it after I'm done?

Have fun with your midnight launches, MGS fans! I hope the game is everything you guys are hoping it to be and more so!
Morning GGT. Gonna go DL Commando soon. I wish I could get MGS4 tomorrow:cry:
I'd be interested to hear anyone's opinion on Commando as I was intending to DL it myself tonight.

Finally hit level 50 on Forza 2 last night, no more stupid endurance race grinding, huzzah!!!! :bouncy:

I'm only getting it for SSF2THD. I think it looks pretty mediocre myself. I'll let you know later though.
What I don't understand is why Chaos Wars (PS2) is going for so much online when it's in stores still and in stock online at EB/GS. It really baffles me.
SOme probably have Gamestop phobia.

Anyway, slow gaming night for me. Played a little SingStar and Warhawk. I need to play Eternal Sonata more.

Commando 3 is half decent. It's good, mindless fun. The game does absolutley nothing new, it's just like any other twin stick shooter, but it ain't bad.

Gonna check out a local game store and hope they have MGS4 for sale early because they've been known to sell things early sometimes.

So those new RPGs for the 360... I don't know much about them but I've seen some screens and they look really good. I'm going to have to find some videos to watch.

Also, I've never played any of the Tales of ____ games so the hype for Tales of Vesperia is lost on me. What is a good starting place for that series?

I have been debating on getting Warhawk since i picked up my PS3 last week. But I think I'll wait until after I finish MGS4.

Also, I'm in love with Metal Gear Saga from the MGS4 OST. I know it's just a remix of another MGS song but I still love it.

Symphonia if you have a Wii/GC or Abyss if PS2. The better of those two games is up for debate, but they're the two best available in the US.

Did anything else pop up from the MS conference aside from TLR, IU, SO4 and Tales?

There are videos for Infinite Undiscovery, Last Remnant, and Star Ocean 4 on the live marketplace.

Good morning GGT.

I slept at 9 PM last night and woke up at 6 AM. Needed to get a lot of sleep because... THERE IS NO MORE SLEEP AFTER TONIGHT!

sounds like you're doing what I'm doing. I'm going home today and sleeping till 9 or 10 pm and I'll be up through the night to the next night non-stop playing. I actually hope and plan to beat it in one day oddly.

anyone know if you have to go to EB and get you're "paid" receipt today before going at midnight? I had to for GTAIV, so I am guessing the same. When that happened for GTAIV they started doing the receipts at 6pm.

After work today, I'm going to stroll by GS and pay for my LEs, I only put the 10z down on em.

I just wanna get in and out as soon as possible.

Watched retrospective 5 last night and started falling asleep lol... that was my cue to sleep EARLY

Every day this week and last week I've been catching up on podcasts while driving to work... listening to the MGS retronauts and the kojipro reports...

BRING IT SON

I'd say the best starting place is Tales of Symphonia... it's the only one that was great, IMO. Tales of the Abyss just never seemed to get started... I gave up after 10 hours of being kinda bored by the setting, story, and characters. Tales of Eternia was also decent, but just really formulaic. Symphonia really got everything right, though...

So what shall we discuss today GGT?

We've talked about Metal Gears, Soul Calibur IVs, upcoming RPGs, what next?

How about snacks? What snacks/food do you plan on eating while immersing yourself into MGS4 this weekend?

I need some goodz.

I haven't thought about foodstuffs. I'll probably take some Sprite and pour in a fuckload of grenadine, tho.

Also, Alone in the Dark... I'm really hopin' this game turns out. The gameplay videos look sickwidit, but the developer is unproven (Test Drive = unproven.) Still, I've got a feelin' its going to be great. After that, the next US release I'm excited for is Trauma Center 2. Interestingly, I haven't played my copy of New Blood yet, but w/e. I love me some surgery, though.

Though after MGS4, the standouts are still KOF 98, Sengoku Basara X, and Initial D Extreme Stage for me.

I hate current conversion rates. fuck you, George Washington.

Pringles, MM.

I tried playing the original Metal Gear NES version, and I kept getting killed in the jungle on the way to the base. Man, I used to be able to do the jungle opening in my sleep.

I'm thinkin' beef jerky, red bull, some random Japanese candy...

For dinners, probably pizza or something that can be delivered...

lol.

I'm looking forward to Alone in the Dark too... I wonder what is keeping the PS3 version from coming out the same time as the 360 one?

all this talk of everyone getting MGS4 makes me want to buy a new game this week, but I just got NG2 last week and I'm still playing that.

Local game store went out of business so no MGS4 for me today. Oh well, I guess I'll go to Target/Wal-Mart and pick one up tomorrow morning. My online order won't come in soon enough.

Also, I have no motivation to finish Lost Odyssey and that sucks.

Well since I just got a case of Dr. Pepper I expect to be drinking alot of that one my play through of MGS4. If I actually get to play it this weekend...

As for what comes after the MGS4? I might get Initial D Extreme Stage since I was a fan of the anime, but but I might wait to see what some people have to say about it. And I have Trauma Center 2 and SoulCalibur 4 pre-ordered on Amazon

I was so bored and hyped for MGS4 last night that I started playing MGS3 again. I got to the end of the Virtuous Mission, and was trying to get to Sokolov's cell. I was having a lot of trouble being sneaky getting there, so I decided to say screw it and ran around shooting guards with the shotgun that was there. I learned then that there's a limited number of men that they can send to get you, cause there was no one wandering around when I was done....Though Major Tom did NOT like me killing everyone,

Now the Jackal is NOT cornered right? Also said Jackal isn't particular hungry I'm assuming?

If this is the case I 100% agree with this GGT.

In this case, I hope he's talking about Konami's Jackal!

I loved this game btw.

NES.

Jackal was serious business.

I finally beat that game in 2003 after 10+ years of owning it.

This battle will make your blood boil!

Well a cornered fox is clearly more dangerous than an 80s video game cabinet. Unless maybe you are standing in a pail of water and the cabinet has loose wiring.

Hmm, maybe the local game store I've been visiting lately will get it in today...I'm not expecting them to, but I'll call and ask anyways.
Does anybody know how long the install for MGS4 is gonna take? I need to know how long I have to make my sandwhich.
I thought I heard like 8 minutes? It does a smaller base install, and then even smaller chunks throughout the game as you go.
