If you want to avoid Starforce at all costs, check out the game list at...

http://www.glop.org/starforce/list.php

There are a few Starforce protected games in the sale (Codename: Panzer series, for example, which did some strange things to my computer when it was installed). Just be careful out there.
Funny thing.. I thought I had avoided Starforce up to this point, until I looked at that site. The site mentions Ubisoft games as carrying Starforce.

I have quite a few Ubisoft games on my PC.. like IL-2, Pacific Fighters, Silent Hunter III, etc. When I came home, I looked for it.. and sure enough, Starforce has been on my PC for a long time.

I'd noticed a little bit of slowdown in CD/DVD writing, but mostly a weird problem when I plugged USB devices into my front ports that sometimes caused a complete system crash.

Thanks for posting a link to that site man. I used the removal tool available there, and got rid of the shit.

... FREAKIN' AWESOME.
There was just a Super Smash Bros. Melee tourney at my college tonight. The prize? A $50 Circuit City gift card.
One won tourney and free copies of Half-Life 2, Battlefield 1942, & BF1942: Road to Rome later, I am a happy CAG!

I picked up Dungeon Siege, Darwinia, and Half-Life 2. Hoping HL2 comes with Counter-Strike Source. Nice to be able to buy PC games now that I have a new video card. Thanks, OP!
Regular HL2 does come with Source. Its been like that since it came out.
Sweet. I already beat HL2 on Xbox, but obviously the PC version is supposed to be way better. I didn't have a good enough vid card at the time.

Yea the Vivendi release and the EA:GOTY edition both include CS:S. There is a newer version of HL2 which I believe only comes with HL2 though. I saw it in Compusa yesterday while I was shopping.

Games came yesterday. For some reason call of duty came without a disc 1 but two disc 2s. Called customer service and they said that they'll send me another one
Ah, never knew there was a HL2 only version!
I didn't either until I saw a strange HL2 cover and looked at the contents.

You were lucky. How 'bout this: the box that was supposed to contain BF:1942 Secret Weapons of WWII came looking like it went through WWII, and the fucking disk was missing! Pilfered, I tell you! Soo, I call them explain the situation, and they want to make me return it (at my expense!) and place a new order for it. Needless to say I didn't accept that option, and asked them to just reship me a new one and issue a call tag for the bogus one. Hemming and hawing ensued. After finally getting a supervisor on the phone to agree to that, they tell me it's OOS! Well, of course it is, dumb fuck. So, now they are issuing a call tag for the empty box, and no soup for me. :bomb:

On a lark, I decided to pricecheck the last Half Life 2 Collector's Edition (PC) that has been hanging around my store forever. It rang up as $6.49 (originally $79.99). Sweet.
