A good pillow...

I'm seriously sick of these god damn pillows.

I toss and turn a lot and I never sleep at a certain position (it'd completely random each night) so I run into some major annoyances with pillows.

The pillows with the feather/cotton/whatever stuffing always lose their support in the middle so there's no support where my head rests. I tried all types... from the ultra soft to ultra firm, each one eventually end up the same no matter how much I fluff them.

The memory foam ones suck... they don't conform to anything and I end up just flattening out that mound shape.

Anybody found a good pillow that doesn't suck?

good luck man! im in the exact same position! not matter what pillow ive had tried, they always get flattened out in no time. maybe a cpl things u can do: 1) wash it in the washer, may fluff it back up 2)hold onto the pillow case at the open end, then shake it to get it ruffled up/crammed at the bottom.

now i think my problem is that i tend to sweat alot at night, think thats cause toward the end of the heater's heat cycle it gets to hot and im too out of it to throw the covers off. so im thinking that the sweat is causing the...stuffing inside to flatten out. so im guessing that a wash cycle may help? i havent tried it yet, if u do, PLEASE let me know how it goes! and PLEASE let me know if u come across a betta pillow!
']lol at the above pillows (where can i get one?)

I would try the select comfort ones, I think those are the one. Ive used them for about 5 years now and I havent missed a good nights rest (Well once or twice, but thats cuz i was worried about SATs).

O right, there pretty expensive too, but if its that big of a problem....

Considering that I bought 4-5 pillows in the past year for $15-$20 each, I wouldn't mind dropping $110 on a really good one.

This is like one of those memory foam pillows or is it more... springy?

Maybe you need a new mattress? We just got a new one (pillow top for the win) and my back gets supported better and it's so soft that it was extremely comfortable at night. In fact it was so fluffy that I almost felt like I could do without a pillow.

Well, I have a pillowtop mattress at home and it's very comfortable and supportive. The pillows are definitely he problem.

In my apartment, it's furnished by the landlord and that mattress sucks. It's at least 10 years old and dips a lot in the middle. It's definitely an issue but it's not something I can fix. I called and complained twice and they said if it's not broken, they won't do anything about it.
Do you sleep on your back or your side? That's very important to choosing the right pillow.
Usually on my back... and sometimes at a weird, stomach/side angle.

I sleep on my back as well. I sleep with a "medium" firm pillow. I'd go to some place like Bed Bath and Beyond and check them out. You can typically get a 20% off coupon for BBB and get decent deals. If you don't like the pillow, return it. They have a pretty good policy about that.

If you aren't allergic to down, I would recommend something with a very high fill power (say 700 or so). That should run you about $100 or less.

I never knew you could return pillows... that's actually kinda disturbing to know that someone might've used a pillow I bought.

Oh well, guess I'll make a trip to BBB sometime. I've never actually been to one because... well, because I never had to. But might as well check it out.

i sleep w/my arm as my pillow....

but i just recently bought a pillow from a family friend called the Sterling silver lining series. got it on the low for 50 (she sells them for 85)

it doesn't look big, but it fits my head. the problem is that while it is VERY comfy (and firm, yet soft) i still use my arm sometimes...

This is one of the original memory foam pillows. I've also tested other, off brand name, memory foam pilows and none compare to this one. Ive found that its comforms to the precise shape of your head and neck, while providing excellent support. If you ar interested, you may wanna shop around a little, because this things almost always end up on sale.

I know in Florida it's illegal to resell used beddings. IE pillows, matresses, etc.

At work we pretty much take a loss on the returns of most of these items, so I imagine other places do the same.

I do that sometimes, but i got a big head and i wake up with a Dead arm...takes an hour or so just to get back feeling and get that stupid tingling to go away, its especially bad when you wake up late and have to get ready for work with only one arm.

I just have LOTS of pillows. All kinds of pillows. I'm the pillow-man. When my GF stays over for the night, she throws them all off the bed and I'm like "Oh noes! Not my pill-ows!" Seriously, I just counted, and I have 17 pillows of various shapes and sizes and textures on my bed. Feathers, foam, traditional cotton stuffing, even one with bean-bag stuffing. Big ones, small ones, body-length. With this many pillows, I never have a problem getting to sleep because of the pillow. They don't wear out so fast because they are usually getting some rotation of use.

This is a big change from about 10-12 years ago when I slept with NO PILLOWS WHATSOEVER for about 3 years straight. Then I got some crappy thin pillows and a girlfriend slept over and laughed at my pillows and said she wasn't ever staying over again until I got real pillows. So, from then on, I have always had an abundance of pillows. My theory is: Good pillows = good sex. ;)
