A problem between Half.com and EBay regarding users kicked off of EBay

I have gotten positive feedback from people a few times from Half.com sales where under their user name, it says "no longer a registered user." I used to think it meant that between the time that they purchased an item from me and left the feedback they were given the "no longer a registered user" status. I looked at the feedback that they left for others and saw they left negatives for other Half.com sellers who refused to confirm and ship their order because they have the no longer a registered user status.

That's right, a buyer can be kicked off of EBay for whatever reason yet they can still make purchases of Half.com which of course is a part of EBay in that you use the same user ID.

Maybe I'm over reacting but to me, if someone gets kicked off of EBay, it means there must have been a problem and there are enough crazy people on EBay and Half.com as it is and I would rather not have people kicked off of EBay buying from me on Half.com. I'm sure EBay allows it because these users are still making money for EBay since they are buying items that Half.com/EBay gets the comission for.

I honestly don't know the first thing about Half.com (though I have heard of it and browsed the site before). I bumped this, because I thought someone else may be able to help you.

I recently got 2 e-mails from 2 different ebay users asking me about their items they won. Only problems were they were both suspended, and on ebay with different usernames. Ebay makes it too easy for "problem" buyers to get back on.

But, in the end, they make money off it, so why am I not surprised.

Wow, that's pretty surprising that they let them still shop on Half.com

OT, but I suspended all of my listings on Half.com months ago when I started using PayPal shipping to print my shipping labels at home (and save myself a trip to the PO) If they started a service like that for Half.com I would start selling there again, but it's not worth it to me as it is.

I wish they'd let you use PayPal shipping to ship Half.com purchases (they let you use PayPal shipping to ship things you sell on eBay even if the buyer doesn't pay with PayPal) but they don't.

That's really strange that they are still allowed to bid and neg you. I would be super enraged about that. Why would eBay have a different set of standards for Half.com? I mean, they kick people off eBay even though sales to those people could, in theory, make them money on eBay too. I wonder if it has to do with the difference between auctions and fixed prices...

Wubb, as a side note (my apologies to everyone else), I use Endicia.com to print all my USPS labels at home. You may want to look into that, so that you could return to selling on Half.com. It's a great program, and you can import shipping data files to it (not sure if you use any auction management programs, but I use Vendio and import all my addresses into Endicia). You can even print international labels, complete with customs forms...The mailman even picks up the international packages at the door, so you never have to go to the post office (unless you purchase International insurance). Another cool thing about Endicia: US insurance for up to $100 is only 35 cents.

Thanks for the tip SMG.

But I don't think I'd add enough business going back to half.com to justify $10 per month. I do like the idea of being able to print International stuff including the customs forms with no PO trips and cheap insurance.

If I ever ramp up my eBay selling I may just start up an account. Or if PayPal ends (or starts charging a fee) for their shipping service...

Does it let you do Media Mail? It doesn't list that on the main 'features' section, but I figure it probably does.

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I think before you used to be able to make Half.com accounts that were not eBay accounts. I have a Half.com account that has always been "not a registered user" from the day it was created, but I could buy stuff, leave feedback with it and receive feedback on Half.com (but couldn't place bids on eBay auctions). I helped someone else through the process of making a Half.com account recently, and it seems like you can't make a Half.com account that is not also an eBay account anymore (or maybe we signed up in the wrong place).

Edited to add: Crap, 1k posts... Need to hang out around here less :p

Hijacking the thread, sorry.

Wubb, I too use Endicia. Really cool thing is it gives you automatic delivery confirmation, for only $.10. Way cheaper than USPS. And you can automatically send buyer an email.

Disturbing, I didn't even realize the feedback systems were linked until I bought a text book on half a couple months back.

beg - Sounds like endicia is the eBay sellers choice. I don't think I had heard of it until reading this thread.

You get cheap DC through PayPal shipping, too. But you have to pay a small label processing fee (~$.20 I think) for everything except Priority. No breaks on insurance.

If I ever have to go back to what I was doing 6 months ago (taking 2 trips a week to the PO), I'd either sign up for one of these services or stop selling.

Hey Yoshi, if you want me to move this stuff to a new thread just let me know and I'll paste it out.

Still hijacking...

With Endicia, when you use Priority mail (as opposed to Parcel, etc.), I believe the delivery confirmation is free (not even the 10 cents). And yes, Wubb, you can ship via Media Mail. I'm pretty sure Endicia has every feature/type of shipping that USPS has since Endicia is just a middleman. But unlike most middlemen, Endicia actually reduces the end cost if you're shipping a lot!

You don't need to move it. The only reason I created the thread in the first place was just to make people aware of what was going on, it's not like another thread where there is a problem that requires answers.
