A question about half life 2 collector's edition

I was wondering what you can get off of steam with the Half life 2 collector's edition. Do you get the same games that you can get with the silver package or do you only get the games that come in the box? Because I would rather get the silver package off of steam if you cannot get day of defeat source in the future or the back catalogue of games (I have been strictly a console gamer for years and am only recently embracing the PC side of things).

You're probably best on getting the Silver Package, because you'll have to pre-order DoD: Source from the package, even though you keyed in your HL2: CE key (Gold and Silver package options).

Same here I have been a console and arcade fanatic and now all of sudden PC
gaming is taking over. Gamefreak is right get the silver package because that is
the only way to get the back catalogue without paying an additional fee. I have
the HL-2 CE and even wrote to Valve to verify that and they said it is like the
bronze package with no back catalogue. Oh well I only paid $20 and CS: Source is
primarily the only game right now I play on it. Also check out X-Fire it will connect
you to your friends online and what they are playing and their friends so you have
a huge list of games and servers to try out.

I have a question as well...as a prospective buyer of this game...So I figured id add on to this thread.

What is the purpose Of Half Life:Source?

If I can handle the demo, can I handle the game...performance wise, I have more than enough Hard Drive memory
