Abu Ghraib re-enactment stops Condi Rice speech
Jesus, you are completely disqualified to discuss this issue if your example of punishment is Lyndie England. Google Charles Grainer. Over 125 people have faced military justice or disiplinary actions.

PAD isn't my issue or problem.

CTL

Edit: I could care less about your second point.
What was the distribution of rank amongst those 125?

I find it compelling that you don't care about my second point; your first post in this thread was either an obnoxious bait attempt, or an attempt to stifle any conversation about the thread. If you cannot do the same for PAD, why bother at all?

myke.
...I find that those people who lay the ad hominems on real thick often have the least to say. It's not a matter of whether you care or not; it's whether you can respond without looking like a partisan hack who calls out others for similar behavior. Evidently, that has been answered for us already.
Ohhhhhh, someone from the left putting words in my mouth? Color me surprised! That's only the 4th or 5th time this week.

Abortion protestors should be killed. Are you aware of how the stupid fucking Christian abortion protestors actually protest? They take dead babies from dumpsters behind abortion clinics and throw them at the clinic.
1. I am not from "the left." Neither am I from "the right."

2. I didn't put words in your mouth, only asked you to clarify your idiotic position that people who disagree with you, at least on abortion, should be killed.

3. What you're saying is just stupid. It's just as dumb as Quack's "all abortion protesters are violent" schtick. You act as though people who are opposed to abortion (~50% of the country, BTW) are a monolith, that they all think and act alike. No wonder you have no compassion for the homeless. After all, all of them must be that way because they are lazy bums who refused to work, right?
After all, all of them must be that way because they are lazy bums who refused to work, right?
For the most part, yes. Add drugs and alcohol in there, and you've got it spot on.

You apparently still can't discern between abortion protestors and abortion opposition.
You're wrong. They can....well, at least they could. I don't know if abortion clinics still throw them out in dumpsters.

Truth. They're all douche bags. Am I generalizing? Yes, but almost every one of them is violent and deserves death.

Funny, I finally agree with something from the left (abortion) and I still get into an argument about it.
Ya, I mean why wouldn't liberals agree with killing dissenters? This is a toughie.

Though CTL, being knocked down a rank or even discharged isn't a real punishment that is equivalent to killing/beating/torturing someone.

Stupid fucking lazy, drug and alcohol abusing 6 year olds. what a bunch of worthless children...

I remember looking at statistics a few months ago, after putting together some numbers I think it came out to around .8 or 1% of the population is homeless every year (I think it was a week or longer, though not sure).

It's just easier to say "they deserved it for being lazy drug addicts". If you can blame it entirely on them then you know that the same fate will never befall you.

Well, we all know that only the poor and homeless drink alcohol and use drugs.

myke.
...The New York Times has had a very good section on class for the past few weeks online; they quoted a baseball coach (I'm not good with athlete names), who said that "some people were born on third base thinking they hit a triple."

Rich, read these books, then get back to us:

William Julius Wilson: The Declining Significance of Race; The Truly Disadvantaged; When Work Disappears.
Elijah Anderson: Streetwise; The Code of the Street.
Thomas J. Sugrue: The Origins of the Urban Crisis;
John M Yinger: Closed Doors, Opportunities Lost
Douglas Massey and Nancy Dention: American Apartheid
Elliot Liebow: Tally's Corner
...there shall be more, if you like; this was off my head.

Children are a completely different story. They're homeless as a result of their completely worthless parents.

Myke, those all sound like pretty boring books. I don't care about the homeless to invest a penny, nor hours, into.

And drinking alcohol and taking drugs and letting those 2 things take control are completely different things. Drug addicts and alcoholics are just as worthless as homeless people.

american apartheid, this is only partly relevant. In boston if you want to know where a certain type of people are (chinese, black, hispanic etc.) I can tell you exactly where to go (the only exception is downtown crossing which has everyone). I couldn't do that in toronto.

If you don't care enough to learn about the situation, how can you claim to know what caused their situation?

Myke, what you don't understand is that it's not Rich's problem! He didn't do this to them because he exists outside of the confines of civil society and all the potential cause and effects that go on there.

y'see, you definitely can do this, and not care about their problems, while simaltaneously supporting a war on terror and Iraqi "insurgents."

isn't that clear, myke? doesn't that make perfect sense?

Then shut your fucking mouth if you don't have anything to back up what you say.

Here I go into ad hominem mode: fuck you. You're a goddamn idiot. If you don't have anything to back up your arguments, and have no interest in finding out if what you think is true or not, shut the fuck up. You're a fucking lazy, useless buffoon whose interest in yourself seems to resemble the stereotypes you assert about our underclass. Shut the fuck up until you've read some Karl Marx or Frederich Engels, because you have no idea what you're talking about.

...there's a reason that I don't claim "all baptists are assholes." It's because (1) overgeneralizing is untrue and does nothing for policy, and (2) I know well enough to not speak about things I don't know - I have never met a baptist I liked, but I'm sure there's a good one out there.

i'm actually amazed. i didn't think it was possible!

I've been using your conversations for my social science class and my democracy projects class, and the conservatives in my class are really really embarassed, so keep it coming!

basically i said that if he could find an extreme over the top liberal before i could find an over the top conservative, he'd win the bet.

over the top meant that they would, when presented with any facts, be completely and totally unreasonable.

another requirement would be that they would show no conclusive evidence or demonstrate an ability to asses information and come to reasonable conclusions (homeless people aren't my problem, abortion protestors should be shot etc.).

the last requirement was failure to participate in dialectic discourse.

I honestly thought he'd find a stark raving mad liberal college student before i found a bumfuck twit on a video game site.

three cheers, Rick, drinks are on you tomorrow!

I'm honestly surprised anyone is amazed that I don't like homeless people. I don't like Mexicans, I don't like Canadians, I definitely don't like US citizens. I made fun of 9/11, and I made fun of the SE Asian Tsunami. I made fun of the Spanish after the train bombings, and I routinely make Hitler and French jokes. I've seen most of the beheading videos, and I find many of the Iraqi dead pictures amusing. I haven't tried to cover this up that much.

I enjoy watching people bitch and moan. Honestly, I'm amazed I went this long on this forum without letting this get out. I don't give a shit about anyone but myself. I'm entirely selfish, and I admit this openly.

If it came down to it, I could find proof to back up my beliefs when possible, but I just don't care. No proof leads to funnier responses, and, well, what a better way to leave the politics forum. I was getting tired of having to find proof of everything anyway, when it only lead to back and forth bickering. I'm totally amused by the turn of events in this thread, and it was a fine way to say good bye.

Think of me as you wish, but when it comes down to it, you don't know me, I don't know you. And, quite frankly, I don't give a shit.

Is that the best you can do?

I'm sure that PAD, CTL, and their ilk will be just tickled pink that you've admitted to hating entire classifications of people. That makes their work so much easier.

And hating Americans, too! And to think, I'm the one who's accused of that!

Please, if you don't give a shit, take up needlepoint, since your incessant posting here contradicts any indifference you claim to have.

You were willing to make broad statements about the underclass, yet unwilling to take the effort to develop an educated and informed understanding of that issue. That, plain and simple, is laziness.

I certainly hope you don't approach your classes that way.

Mad? Nope, not really. Not giving a shit does not equate to being mad at the world. I'm perfectly happy with my place. You're misunderstanding me for an emo kid.

The description you give of yourself makes you appear antisocial, you have no probably getting along with people and can act nice, but you don't care about them, and you just do whatever you want regardless, you seem to lack a conscience. There's no value in that.
