AC2:bonfire of the vanities 320 MS pts on marketplace

There are two versions of the DLC:

There are actually two different versions of the Bonfire DLC: one that includes the new Bonfire of the Vanities game sequence and the three secret Templar lairs which were included in the game's "Black Edition" (560

/ $6.99); and one that only comes with the new sequence (320

WTF? Ok, I have this game on PS3 so I am just going to wait awhile and see what happens over the next few days. Either one of the marketplaces has this game at the wrong price or Microsoft just got hooked up with a better deal. I almost want to say the PSN store is wrong since the first DLC was only $3.99 and this new one is $4.99.
I would say if you have the 360 version you should bite on this right away if you were planning on getting it just to be safe.

Has anyone played the new DLC? Is it worth it? I bought the first one, have not even played it yet. But I did beat AC2 so I will play it eventually.

ok i got the game from my bro and he probably used up all the codes of his normal edition game...

so if i wanted the full experience, i suppose i have to get the more expensive version of the DLC right?

The "full experience" is just three more of the linear levels that aren't even that impressive. I only have Shipyard Arsenal and it wasn't exactly anything to write home about given how many chances it gave me to see how awful Ezio's jump aiming really was.

My take on it:

This is a mis-price. If you want this DLC, buy it now because it will be fixed and will cost 400 points.

Everything I read leading up to the release said that 'Bonfire of the Vanities' would be $5. I just paid $10 for the PSN DLC (including 'black edition' content), so that's kinda shitty that the 360 DLC is $2 cheaper.

i went ahead and bought the first when it was released, also at 320 points, and i got this one too at the same price. I'm in the midst of the first DLC now as i was late to play this game and wanted to enjoy the DLC "missing chapters" in the proper order.

Might not be much, but for the fun i've had in the game, it made the purchase worth it.

The bonfires gives you this memory requiring you to assassinate "A LOT" of targets. these are not assassination contracts. These are actual people you get a cutscene after killing them (just like for each end of chapter). I've only done the first one, but it was certainly challenging as it requires you to be in Notorious 100% of the time for each target.

Aw man, I didn't know about "Black edition" content. I bought Bonfire already too. Oh well, is the extra content that great?

Edit: The more expensive one doesn't even show up if you go to the DLC from the main screen. You have to go to game add-ons. Kind of lame because I have the additional points to buy it but I'm not buying the whole DLC again. Ubisoft's loss I guess.

Ok, I just checked the PSN store and it looks like Sony was the one who screwed up. Bonefire of the Vanities by itself is now $3.99 and the version with the secret locations as well is $6.99. I am glad I waited on those but it sucks for the people who bought them already. Maybe they can try emailing Sony for a refund or something.

i never saw the extra content one. it said theres 12 missions on the 320 MS pts 'Bonfire...' so i figured they were included. ubi said there was 6 memories in the 1st dlc & 10 in the 2nd dlc. but i know it was supposed to be 5$, so get it now if u were ever planning on it (i would but sold mine to amazon for 38$ credit a while back).

I bought the $9.99 package yesterday on PSN, so I've fired off an email asking for a $3 credit.... we'll see what happens.

Sony isn't as stingy when it comes to Digital purchases as Microsoft, so they probably will fix it.

Both DLC packages ought to be free to those who've already purchased Assassin's Creed 2. These weren't true add-ons, but rather sequences which couldn't be completed on-time for their scheduled release date. 320 points, or any points for that matter ain't a deal at all. These two sequences add up to around 1.7 GB, which should have been on the retail disc.

Ubisoft should just pony up. The platinum edition, gold edition, goty edition, or whatever later on will contain it all anyway [cough*PCs win*cough]. Early adopters screwed again.

On the flip side, Ubisoft did get the Uplay points system correct by rewarding players for in-game achievements, rather than just a 'score' such as Microsoft's gamerscore system.

You win some, you lose some.

Yeah, I must admit that the Uplay angle was a great idea...this was the first game that actually made me care about achievement points and actively try to get them. Frankly, every game from now on should do this instead of just issuing out ego stroke points. :bomb:

Don't know about that, they both are pretty stingy.

I remember watching the Quick Look for the "The Battle of Forli" and remember Ryan specifically saying that it was 320 points and also that he had no extra achievements. Is there a reason Bonfire of the Vanities wouldn't be the same?

1.7GB also happens to be the amount of disc space (per disc) MS reserves for DRM and dashboard updates.

I am betting the cut Lost Planet 2 content will also come in around this size...

The best you can do is wait for a sale on the AC2 DLC, or for a GOTY edition with all DLC bundled.

Nobody got screwed, the early adopters purchased at a higher price for the chance to play the game sooner. Purchase games at the price you feel is fair for the content available at the time of purchase. Games will always drop in price or release with more content included later. From everything I've read, people got plenty of value out of Assassin's Creed 2 even without the added content, and nothing entitled them to the new content for free.

i have found the content to be worth the 4 bucks each, and my only regret was they didnt add any chivements with it. But nonetheless, i got to play thru and enjoy them

Bro, I agreed with everything you've said; fundamentally. Plus, Assassin's Creed 2 is an excellent game, no doubt. The only part you seem to have gotten wrong is the content isn't 'new,' but rather delayed.

Have you actually played sequence 11 and sequence 14? Did they seemed rushed and a bit on the short side? I'd thought so.

The point here is sequence 12 and sequence 13 were 'omitted' content.

Case in point, the new Resident Evil 5 content is truly new. And I would gladly pay for them.

Yeah, they turned down my request for a $3 credit, citing the knowledge base entry that states all sales are final, no refunds.

The hell? That is so lame! So basically they won't refund you because of their pricing screw up? I have noticed that it is good to wait a day or two when PSN updates their store since they seem to have price screw ups every so often. So unless you are a 100% sure the price on the store update is correct, best to wait a bit I guess.

I bought both after beating and being very impressed with the game this weekend. The DLC sucked and I felt ripped off. I didn't like how they kept reminding me "memory sequence repaired", and that I couldn't use Altair's Sword in Sequence 12, and that I was set to "Notorious" without an option of ripping down posters to bring my level down on both sequences. Overall I don't think the DLC fit, and the game was better off without them.

^this^

If Ubisoft later on releases a Platinum or GOTY edition [retail disc] with these two chapters included, I 'may' pick them up on the el cheapo.

Still, I wished they offered owners the option of mailing in their current discs for the complete version.
