It was a fun game, so what if it's a rip-off. The mini-game-like dragoon moves were fun to pull off and made for a fun battle system. The characters looked didn't remind me of gay power rangers, though I'm not sure what those would look like anyways. The story was fine and got me from place to place. You got too hung up on similarites to FF, and I just ignored them since it is a different game and enjoyed it.
Dude...Even if FF didn't exist, the game would still suck ass. The characters were bland and uninteresting. The story was also bland. The two things that drive an RPG (at least a good one) are the story and the characters. And if you didn't get the whole Power Rangers theme of the game, you weren't paying attention. They're color-coded, fighters of evil, who transform. On the characters, Sony figured that main characters obviously needed to be silent, so Cloud Jr there comes off as boring. Albert literally feels like a walking dictionary. If I cannot care for any of the characters, how do you expect the game to be good? Shana's name to me is useless. And the battle system was horrible. If you want to see a good, innovative battle system, go try Shadow Hearts: Covenant or basically any of the SH games. The Judgement Ring is an example of a fun battle system. I just mention the FF similarities because they are the easiest thing to point out what's wrong with the game.
