Acquisition: The Art Of Purchasing Used Video Games

Yeah, I saw that link on joystiq earlier today...
No mention of 25% off with free shipping at EB and no mention of Gamefly either.:booty:

Seems like decent enough advice...I especially like how "ebay being your best friend" is quickly folowed by "ebay is your worst enemy".

To his credit, he didn't title it "The Art of Saving on Used Games."

Although the main reason most people buy used it to save money, more often than finding hard-to-come-by items.

Good article. I had no idea there was a Virtual Boy game worth $1200. One of my greatest regrets is trading in my VB that I bought second hand fom Blockbuster years ago (for $29.99). I think I just had Red Alarm, Mario Golf and Mario Tennis though, that's it.

decent read....good points about having the orginals and the remakes...

also liked how he said about doing research before blindly purchasing....i do that but i'm sure many "gamers" don't

he should've started this paragraph off with "a used game is a lot like a woman"

A little love goes a long way. After the long searches, the negotiations, and the actual transfer of funds for game pak, you have your beloved game in your hot little gaming hands. The first thing you should do is slam it into your game console, right? No! Clean that game pak first, otherwise you'll be playing that game with everyone who has ever played it before. You never know how the previous owner(s) treated the game. Yes, it's possible that it was kept in a crystal shrine on the mantle, but most likely it was left to gather dust, then slobbered on by the family dog (and that's why the game was sold to you in the first place).

;)

There are prototypes that have been shown at some point but have never surfaced that would probably fetch twice that from collectors.
