Activites for a couple to do

AmanoUsagi

CAGiversary!
My boyfriend and I are off from school and work in the next 2 weeks. We want to go somewhere or do something interesting. We have been together for over 5 years now so we have done movies, restaraunts, and all the other regular activites. We are 24 and 25, live in upstate NY (near Albany), don't drink, and don't want to go any further than 4 hours by car. Any ideas?

I live in the midwest, and am mostly ignorant of whats all in New York to do.. other than, say New York City.

What about a picnic at the falls? You could see a play, or a comedian? My wife and I went and saw John Stewart do a stand up show for our aniversary, it was a really fun experience.

Go paintballing or snowboarding.

Why don't you take a trip to visit Niagara Falls on the both American side & Canadian side I hear that its beautiful to look at the Falls at night when its lit. If my girlfriend had the time to take off I would suggest to go here just for something close but not to far away.

Comedians, Paintballing, Kayaking, rent a cabin on a lake, Casinos. Do they have any dinner mystery trains over there? Skydiving, horseback riding. I don't know...

We like to go to a Gameworks or a Dave and Busters once in a while. Given you are on this site that might prove to be fun.

Let us know what you decide.

Screw the not driving more then 4 hours. If you have the time off and some cash just drive. Personally one of the best trips I ever took was camping at the grand canyon. I am not a huge outdoors type person and only ended out there because of the 5 weeks in vacation time I had to burn. Spent a week in New Mexico and Arizona visiting a friend and just driving around the both states....

Having that kind of time off is the best time to just pick up and go do something. If you don't go anywhere when you have 2 weeks off, when will ya....

Seconded.

why dont you try some roleplaying ( and no i dont mean videogames) or naked twister or naked yahtzee ( hell damn near any game is fun if you add naked to it except for naked fry cook).

theres tons of stuff to do check the papers for local bands or events or just go for a drive and go exploring. theres nothing funner ( or is it more fun) than just driving somewhere and seeing what can be seen without planning.
stop using protection..
thatll spice up the relationship a lil bit ;)
Thats the whole reason I had to marry your mom and I still can't get you out of the house.

I could have told you this just by reading the title of your post:

You're not going to like any of the suggestions these guys will make.

So I guess the wineries at the Finger Lakes are out, the Finger Lakes themselves are still nice. Here's some more ideas:

Adirondacks - Beautiful mountains, and will have some good fall foliage in the next couple of weeks. Same could be said for the White Mountains of NH and the Green Mountains of VT.

Montreal - Neat cultural city. Historic old Montreal is very cool. It's only a few hours away for you, but you'll feel like you're half a world away since barely anyone speaks English (openly).

Niagara Falls - Might be pushing your four hour limit, but worth the drive if you've never been.

Boston - Some cool sights if you've never been. A little further and you could visit Cape Cod / Martha's Vineyard.

Atlantic City - Or Foxwoods Casino, Monhegan Sun in CT if you're into gambling.

I recommend Niagara Falls. I went there this summer with my gf and we had a great time. Go to the Canadian side. Its better because thats where everything to do is.

And zoos are fun to go to also.

Go to Long Island. Its about a 3 hours drive.

go to Philly, PA... I *think* that should be about 4 hrs drive from upstate ny. The food there is great.

I agree with Boston. It's gets stale after being here 5 years (and growing up in the suburbs when I was younger), but there's definitely a lot of cool stuff to do here. You don't even need a car really. The T is only about $1.70 to go anywhere in the city.

My gf's family lives in Syracuse. We didn't do the finger lake thing, namely because of our free time and having to have one of us be the designated driver kinda killed it.
Come to Syracuse, and let me stick it in your pooper.
Just find a gay guy. It'll feel the same.
