Hello all.

The time is approaching for me to buy a new car and I have found an Acura RSX. It has 45,000 miles and is a 2002. The dealer is asking for $15,900 for it. Does anyone here own an RSX? Thoughts? Opinions on it?

Also has anyone ever used CarFax before? Any other alternatives?

Thanks.

Added new pics of the TL above. Getting the windows tinted on thursday.

Buy a new Accord. Honda owns Accura, and the Accura is just an expensive version of the Accord.

acura is just the luxury line for honda. but the rsx is much nicer looking than the accord.

thanks for the link kaw. looks like no odometer problems were found for the car. I'm still torn between buying the Acura and a new Scion tC though. In the end the scion will end up costing only about 2k more than the Acura...and it's brand new.

No problem. I'll throw in my two cents if you're still on the fence. If you're taking a loan out, you will get a better rate on a new car. That said, the 2000 dollar difference may be no difference at all in the end. And of course, you can get the color/options you want on a new car -- not to mention the full warranty, and the new car smell. ;)

Both are nice cars, good luck on your decision!

Well, if the dealer can offer me a better deal on the Acura (like say 14,500) then I am really tempted to jump on it. I would be paying cash, so a loan isn't really the problem. On one hand the Acura is so nice looking, and is a nice little car. On the other hand a scion is new, and is only about 2k more in the end. I wonder how many miles i can expect out of the Acura, and what the resell of the scion or acura may be however.

I'm sure both cars will get you a lot of miles. Toyota and Honda generally make very reliable cars, and I'm sure these are no different. Also these 2 companies have cars with very high resale values. Don't be worried about either of these things. It comes down to new vs. (more) luxury.

It may be possible to get a complete Carfax report for free.
Look for the "Find a Dealer" option on carfax.com and use it to find the
dealer that has the car you are looking at.
You can then look at the inventory at the dealership that has already
had a Carfax report run on it (by the dealership).
If the car you are looking at shows up in the inventory list, you can read
the entire report and print it for free!

I've owned 2 RSX Type S's now. Is the car a base model or Type S?

Not quite. The RSX is built on the Civic chasis.

Keep in mind the 2000 more will buy you a car with a full warranty, 45000 less miles, and the peace of mind that some street racer kid didn't own the car previously.

The factory Acura warranty is only good to 4 years/50,000 miles so you only have 5000 miles left (unless you are buying an Acura certified used car). Also, the Acura RSX has a ridiculous insurance rating because of theft. As an example, it was cheaper for me to own a new S2000, 350z, or Lancer evo than an RSX Type S.

Well, just a small update. I ended up buying a 3.2TL today. I am in love with this car. It has tooo many features to name. My insurance only went up 60 bucks every 6 months as well.

I have an 03 Type-S with 29000 miles on it. It may not have the torque of the WRX/EVO/SRT-4, but its a fun & fast car to drive. I have mine modded up a bit too.

I am an environmental health specialist. you don't even want to know how bad that new car smell is for you.
