CAGiversary!
Advance Wars: Under Fire - Was I the only one that cared?

I was freaking out when I saw the big Advance Ware Under Fire billboard at E3... but when I finally got up to it and saw it was a 3-d Real Time Action Strategy game... I was a tad disappointed....

i know we all want that full-fledged super awesome strategy game like the new Fire Emblem that'll play just like the gba counterparts.... and this played far from it....

Surprisingly though... after some time with it... i noticed that it wasn't bad at all... it had a lot of similar elements from the GBA games (art direction and hit points in real time)... mixed in with a call area system similar to Pikmin (Pikmin 2 was the shizz by the way).

Once you get over the 3D overhaul... it seemed like a really great new direction for the franchise.... maybe even leaves room for the next 2d strategy incarnation to be on the GBA or DS....

My only problem is... I hardly saw any press on this game.
I know it takes time... but there are tons of Advance Wars fans that still don't know about it this long after its unvailing.

Am I alone here? Anyone else hyped?

WAS excited, but i either want a standalone FPS or a standalone RTS, not a combination. Let alone the original wasnt either one of those. Also, with just the online picks to look at, it looked like ThanderTanks with people on the battlefeild.

Closedminded? Yes. Want to play the demo? Yes

It looks like crap. It isn't even the same type of game as the GBA ones and all the ones before it. There is no blood, instead they use "stars", that's just lame. Nintendo never needed to use blood, but if you are going to bake them "bleed" make it look real! People wonder why Nintendo has a kiddy image.

Plus why isn't it called "Cube Wars"?

because "cube wars" sounds dumb.

I didn't have enough time to play it at E3 but I looked, I was curious but I wasnt over all impressed by the presentation. I didnt like the character art and the combat just made it look like another "army men" game.

I'll wait to see more indepth reviews though...

I guess you people know nothing.

There have been
Super Wars
GameBoy Wars
Color Wars
Advance Wars

They are named after the system, it doesn't matter if they sound funny, and Cube Wars sounds fine to me.
