I'm annoyed as hell and I'm barely gonna take it much longer... :p

I ordered the Macross Pluss DVD 2 through an Amazon Z shop because it was cheap. It cost me $18 shipped from a place calling itself the Super Duper club where most other places would cost me $25.

The first disk I received rattled in its case. Not a good sign. The holder sns had broken enside and the disc was floating loosely. Further, there were cracks along the inner ring about 3/16ths ro a quarter inch in length. Three weeks ago I requested a replacement. Two weeks ago I mailed the item back. Today I received the replacement.

Upon opening the package it was fairly apparent that along the spine the front cover was ripped in half. I have again sent an email requesting a second replacement. But considering the cost in postage for shipping this back twice, I've basically negated any savings I made form ordering through Amazon.

Then...

I recently ordered the $20 GTA DP for the xbox from Gamestop It arrived today as well. Upon opening the package, it was readily apparent that the fron cardboard case holder was deformed, bent, and crumpled under the plastic sheeting. I have just sent them an email requesting an RMA so I can mail this back and receive a defect free replacement.

In five orders online I have yet to receive a shipment from Gamestop that I have not needed to return for one reason or another.

Shipping for these defects is going to cost me an extra six dollars. It's most disappointing. I'm probably never going to order from gamestop online ever again considering my luck with it. Nor through the Amazon Z-shops.
 
That sucks man. I've always liked going to a B&M store, rather than going online. I've had a few order go awry as well, but not as many as that.
 
I've had great success with the Amazon shops, but yeah, going in I understand that I'm taking my life into my own hands. Or something like that.
 
Well Wadda Ya Know. Gamestop just did me right.

Just called their customer service. They're going to send me a new GTA Double Pack. But not only that, they're going to let me keep the slightly crumped one too.

I am very suprised. And the damage is only cosmetic. The games and their cases are fine. It's just a slight crease that messes up the edge of the cardboard holder for the GTA Double Pack that's the problem

Seeing that they're going to send me another one with a $20 value for free compensates me for all my troubles with their website.

Yep, pretty much. Except one will have a busted up cardboard holder. But the games and dvd holders are in good shape.

I was quite suprised, and even asked twice if I was hearing the woman on the other end correctly.
 
Ill take the damaged one if you dont want it. Send me a PM if you want to sell it. Willing to pay $15 or including s/h, and I have paypal.
 
I have never ordered from gamestop online but this is a sign that they will at least take care of some customer complaints and problems. I just might have to get in on some of their future deals.

Between EBGames.com and Gamestop.com, I've had much better luck with Gamestop than EB.

EB sent me out a PO copy of Enclave instead of a new one, when a new one was ordered.

EB sent out game guides for Fable and SW: Battlefront. The post office f'd up tossing the guides into my mailbox because they were in mailing envelopes instead of boxes. Continued to be a problem until they shipped them in boxes.

EB sent out Wing Commander Prophecy for the GBA and because it was packed horribly, it was destroyed in shipment. Cart crushed and all.

I've had a few minor cosmetic issues with things EB has shipped out to me, and nothing from Gamestop.
 
I can't stand EB pre-owned games. My EB experience: A lot of stickers on the cases. The cases were pretty beat up. They slipped in Greatest Hits versions of the discs in non-GH cases. The prices were pretty bad also.

I made my first purchase from a Gamestop a couple days ago and it was great! I bought 3 used games. Games were like new. Cases were flawless. Only one case had a sticker on it and that was due to me buying the only copy (Katamari Damacy). The discs and manuals were perfect. Not a GH in sight. They also gave me a free Gamestop discount card (gives 10% off and magazine subscription). Thumbs up, Gamespot.
 
I HATE the stickers they put on preowned cases.. Always leaves tons of shit behind when you try to scrape it off.

I also have 2 games where I got stuck with a GH in a non-GH box.

Its better than getting no cases at all from GS. I only occasionally have problems with EB's used games, and I can return them to the EB a block away. More than half of my used orders from GS had to be returned. Their customer service is good, and they take care of you, but the condition of their games is awful, and not guaranteeing a case and instructions with current generation games is totally unacceptable.

One game I ordered from Gamestop.com was covered in deodorant, like someone had decided to rub a stick of deodorant all over the disc. What the hell is that?
 
Seei, I've had exactly the opposite experience between Gamestop and EB up to this point. Every pre-owned game I've gotten from Gamespot ( 8 ) has been unacceptable. One disk was obviously water damaged. None ever came with complete cases/instructions. I actually got 3/4ths of a case once.

90% of the pre-owned games I've ordered from EB has come in good to like new condition. The few bad eggs I've received I've been able to replace their cases from penny jumpacks at CC. All games had inserts in good shape so the differences are unnoticable. Finally, they have all come with a manual in neat condition.
 
I could never bring myself to blindly order used games from EB or GameStop online. You would have no idea what condition the game is in and end up with deoderant on your disc. ;)

Now when I buy used games from the store, I make sure that everything is complete, nothing is GH, and that the disc has light scratches at worst. This saves myself a lot of trouble.
 
My "best" defective experience was when I ordered DOA 3 from EB. The disc was scratched and would not run, so I tried to return it in-store. At first I was having mad problems with the EB staff, because they kept twisting the wording of the return policy and claimed that I couldn't return it, despite the disc being defective. But these were dumbass mall employees. So I went to a dedicated EB store, one I had had good experiences with in the past. They had no problem giving me $14.99 store credit for the defective game. What's especially cool is that I orignally used the 25% off code when I ordered the game, so I came out a couple of bucks ahead (didn't even realize they gave me full credit until I checked the receipt later on).

A couple weeks later, I got a Ninja Gaiden that had some schmutz all over it. Brought it to an EB and they gave me a pristine copy with no problem.

I had worse luck with GameStop. I got Sonic Mega Collection, and it came in a stupid sleeve and wouldn't run. They sent a replacement but I really hate having to mail stuff back. I can't really blame GameStop though... it's all YMMV as to which store gives you better luck with used games.

Now I'm always wary about ordering used online, but a guaranteed 25% off can be so enticing! I evaluate my options on a case-by-case basis.
