I got a bunch of games for Christmas from my family, I really want to play them ASAP. The problem is, three of the game covers are clearly stuck to the seal sticker at the top of the case. I know I'm being obsessive, but I care about the condition of my game covers.

Is it acceptable/possible to just bring all three games to Bestbuy or Circuit City and just ask them to switch them for the same game? The games are completely sealed and new.

I could buy each game and return the copy I was given, but I feel like that would be more work for the employees.

Any advice? Aside from "stop being such an anal bitch?"

nope, that about covers it, If you tried to switch it for the same game without a reciept it would look really suspicious

I think you'd have an easier time doing it at Walmart. But I see nothing wrong with wanting to switch out for perfect copies. You're not trying to exploit a loophole or anything here.

I would suggest, though, if you have even one bit of trouble trying to swap them out as you suggest, then just go with your plan B and buy/return. If they won't/can't accommodate you, accommodate yourself. ;)

You'll have much less explaining to do if you just rebuy & then return.

Only other suggestion is if you know any of the employees at your local game stores (EB, Gamestop, etc) then they might work with you there.

Believe it or not, I understandyou completely. Im the kind of guy who switches out EB games cases b/c I can't stand the stickers on the front. So I know I'd absolutely hate having messed up cover art on my games -after all, they're collection of sorts. Besides, if they were bought new, you have the right to get them in perfect condition.

is the actual cover art insert stuck or just the plastic covering on the cover box?

personally, i wouldn't do a "return without receipt" move for that reason

can you not get the receipts from your family?

The cover art looks like it will be damaged if I open it, the top part is not protected by the plastic case as it normally is.

The seal is always stuck to the plastic covering... so your question confuses me a little.

I could get the receipts, but I don't want to hurt their feelings... I'm just going to rebuy/return one at a time.

Dude , I feel your pain , my copy of Kingdom Hearts was like that . I didn't notice it until it was too late , and that is a foil type paper . Now everytime I look at it I see this small jagged white line where the foil part separated from the paper . This would've never happened normally . When I went to go and buy it at BB the bin was empty , and I had someone get me a copy "from the back" . Needless to say he returned with only one copy . I considered it to be the last copy , felt lucky , and left . This NEVER happens to me anymore , I won't let it . I totally understand what you are talking about . Good luck exchanging them .

You can get the receipts from them? Why not explain this situation to them, and tell them that you really like the gifts but simply want to exchange them for the same titles because you don't want the cover art to be damaged? I'm sure that wouldn't offend them.
