Agent Smith is the voice of MEGATRON!

I could totally understand if Frank died, they could have used the beast wars megatron voice actor as the backup. But to put Agent Smith as the voice was just one slap in the face. I really hope there is no nod to the matrix series with Megatron putting on some sort of black sunglasses for a few moments. bah.

Or Megatron prancing around like an elf.

Or running around in a mask spouting poetic.

Indeed. ;)

I personally couldnt give a fat babies dick but if it wasnt the original guy, then I guess Ill be ok with Agent Smith.

I think I'll wait to hear a few lines from the new Megatron before I pass judgment, but right now I would rather have the original voice actor or the guy who played Megatron on Beast Wars.

I think you're overreacting quite a bit. This Megatron is going to be completely different from the original Megatron, it doesn't make sense for there to be a continuity in voice; for one thing movie Megs is not going to be the stereotypcial eighties villain that G1 Megs was. Eighties Megatron was far more cookie-cutter than Prime, he even had the generic eighties raspy villain voice. Megatron is not a role that Welker has any particular attachment to, just one of the various gigs in his long career whereas Cullen still takes pride and has a personal connection with the Prime character. I'm glad they're not going with Welker, and this comes from a hardcore transformers fan through thick and thin

I wonder what was the reasoning behind not choosing beast wars Megatron VA instead?

Please don't tell me "Schedule conflicts"

Who's to say David Kaye even wanted the role? David Kaye has been the Megatron voice in every transformers series since Beast Wars with the exception of 'Robots in Disguise', which has been the better part of a decade. Aside from name recognition, I also wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro and Kaye want to distance him some from his traditional Megatron role due to the fact he will be taking the role of Optimus Prime in the upcoming 'Transformers: Heros' series. Not everything has to legacy for the sake of being legacy. Transformers has and always will be a series that thrives off variety.

I worked on Transformer for a couple days when they were shooting in Detroit. It kinda sucked because it invovled alot of "acting" in front of nothing with sticks and such showing the actors where the Transformers were.

Meh from behind the scenes point of view it seems like its going to be a good movie. There were alot of things going on and you can tell they pumped alot of money into it. But i was only there for 2 days....so meh

Edit: oh yeah....i dont care who voices him.

The same could be applied to Optimus. Word was that Michael Bay fought tooth and nail NOT to let Peter Cullen be the voice of Optimus Prime. He wanted someone well known, namely George Clooney as Prime. But the fans vehemently demanded it. So Bay made it so, just to please the fans.

I got nothing against Hugo Weaving. He's a good actor and a badass voice. But I'm gonna have to go with "not cool". Although the fans should have fought for Frank Welker at the same time as they fought for Peter Cullen a year ago.

Plain and simple, I was really looking forward to hearing Welker and Cullen going at it again. That was a big selling point for me. I'll still see the film, but I am a little disappointed.

I accept it, although I really wanted to see Welker back. He will always be the definitive Megatron just as Cullen will always be the definitive Optimus Prime. I think if Weaving can do this role, however, I am sure Welker would have given Megatron his best performance yet. Even though Welker has done literally hundreds of thousands of voices, I read a release stating a while back that he was really hoping to work with Cullen (who he says is one of his closest friends) and was disappointed when he didnt get the role. He continued to discuss how much the Megatron character was a strong point of his career and wanted to reprise it.

Hugo is a good choice, they need to robot it up though. It could be a lot worse, Laurence Fishburne is Silver Surfer.

The developer for the upcoming games secured Welker, - who is an experienced voice actor and the original Megatron, yet they went with the less-experienced but more well known figurehead?

I still declare shenanigans!

I said something like that in a earlier post.
