I am wondering if someone knows of anyone selling or somewhere to pick up a cheap higherend AGP card. I currently have a ATI 9800 pro 128MB. But Vanguard uses more power then most so I'm looking to put the last little punch into my system while I wait for DX10 Cards to finish up and ship. I have searched newegg, ebay, etc. But 100 dollars for a card thats a dieing standard doesn't seem worth it. Any ideas?

Don't expect to get one better than your current card for less than $100 anytime soon, unless you find some great clearance or coupon. I was looking around for about the same thing a couple months ago, and there just wasn't anything under $100.

I had a 9800 Pro 128MB and upgraded to a X1600 512MB by Sapphire. It was definitely a noticeable improvement. You could probably find it one eBay for less than a hundo.

Don't know much about graphics card. Is X600 256MB good enough for games? I haven't gone into PC gaming and I got the X600 in my Dell.

well ive got good news and bad news

the good news is AGP isnt dead yet, you can pick up a shiny new x1950 pro 512MB AGP card for $250 which is just as fast as the PCIe version. it also won toms hardware's best mid range card value for like the last 3 months.

the bad news is $250 isnt under $100

thats the review of the 256MB version. the 512MB is more futureproof.

also, note: dont overclock saphire cards. the cooler they have isnt great. it should be reliable at stock clocks, but if you want to push it get something like this

and a little of this

and some of this to clean off the old thermal paste/pad before you put on the new

if you dont know how to clean off a GPU & memory its pretty simple. the ArctiClean should come w/ instructions or you can look on their website

oh and if you dont want to spend that much. the best in the $100ish range is this

the ratings vary. but it seems that most people who were dissatisfied w/ the site were dissatisfied w/ the product they bought, not the service of the store.
since its a boxed retail card, & the card is known to be a good brand; i wouldnt worry about it.
