target has The WWE game in and Nascar 2005 in but they say they cant put them out till THursday is when the street date is

Why can all the other stores break the street date but target cant

the manager today said the Street date of both games is Sept 2 2004 any store caught selling before then will be hit with a major fine

calls up all the game companies dude these 1,000 stores all besides targer is breaking your date lol

and why does new stuff come out on tuesday what makes tuesday so special

tuesday is just how the shipping cycles work, since it's very expensive to get anything delivered on sunday and retailers need time to get it on the shelf

Games/DVD/VHS/CD's = Always street on Tuesday.

Movies in the theatre = Always Wednesday or Friday.

Not sure why.. that's just how it is, I suppose.

Games don't always street on Tuesdays, they do more often than not , but not always.

New Release dates for games are in fact on Tuesday, Wednesday, AND Thursday. You are correct about the other media, however. CDs and Movies do release on Tuesdays, except in some larger chains when they receive them on Tuesday and put them on the floor on Wednesday.

I think the reason he wont sell it until Thursdy is because this weeks ad says it will be available then. I used to work at Sears years ago and I was told we were breaking some kind of law if we were to release items that were in an ad early. Doesn't make much sense to me, but thats what I was told many years ago... I bet if it wasnt in the ad, it would be available for sale today.

Is Target the only place you can go to buy games? The huge "Mart" type store isin't the best place to go if you want to get games on the first day.

You wouldn't be breaking a law, but a contract between the publisher and the retailer.
subway around here got the 3.99 footlong deal on tuesday, best deal ever.
These examples obviously have nothing to do with shipping cycles. Tuesday's just a weak business day, and stores found they can really benefit from this kind of promotion.

Just wait a day and stop being such an impatient fucker.

You're already going to get the game for 45% off or whatever (since I KNOW you'll be using that Target raincheck - no other reason you'd wait for Target specifically to have it).

Some people are never happy.

As was pointed out, Tuesday isn't always street date. Disney is notorious for releasing movies on Thursdays and Fridays. As far as movies go, the bigger retailers will have those in the back up to a week before street date.

I don't remember fines associated with street date violations, but I know that smaller retailers that violated street date would have future shipments sent to arrive on street date (allegedly to prevent them from putting it out early again). Bigger retailers (Target, Wal-Mart, etc) can get away with street date violations because they wield so much financial power over the distributors and producers.

if I am not mistaken, I believe ebgames or another similar company was getting sued for releasin games earlier than other retailers, or maybe it was a dvd. I don' recall.

went to target today found a friend working in the back

get ahold of this Target dont even have the games and they dont even know if they have them by this weekend DOH !!
Street dates for CDs are tuesday and Friday. I can't not vouch for other products.
You can't not vouch for them?

When I worked for BestBuy (3 years ago) I was in charge of putting out the videogames. The Nintendo rep specifically told me that game street dates are not strict, when the game comes in I can immediately put them out. But BestBuy wouldnt allow it, since they had them on ad for a particular day, they dont want people coming in on that day and find out that the games were put out a couple days earlier and sold out.

Its all BS if you ask me. I always put them out as soon as I saw them regardles of what BB said to me.

the wwe game sucks glad i didnt buy it (rented it for 5 days for 5 bucks and got pikem for free for a week )

sad still no good wwe game on the cube
