Any chance anyone has a Open Beta key for Aion they will not be using? I would like to go right out and pre-order the game but I feel like it would be a waste since I am not sure I will like the game...

So if anyone could help me out send me a PM

Thanks!

*If anyone has a FilePlanet account you can get a free key there!*

What ever happened to the days when "Open Beta" actually meant what it says? I'm just holding out hope that sometime during the week FilePlanet will start offering keys to non-subscribers.

I know right? I would like to know when they changed "Open Beta" to pre-order the game, or buy a FilePlanet subscription...

Email them and complain. Who knows maybe theyll do something about it.

I emailed them last week saying thats messed up that an "open" beta isnt open to the public at all.

I got a response saying my email got forwarded, but after that nothing lol

I actually wanted to try this out and seems interesting that you need a key for an OPEN beta..
Any one have a key for NA laying about?

I never even looked into this game till now. So how much is this going to cost a month to play?

I believe they said its going to be 15 bucks a month sadly :(

So I'd like to at least play the game before I buy it

I know how you feel.
I'm really hyped for this game, but dropping the money for the preorder is too hasty of a decision for me to make.

Marketing. Why give something out for free when people are willing to pay for it? They likely either get money from FilePlanet, or free advertising at least, and making people preorder it gives them more sales.

Again, why should they give it out for free?

Yea, if anyone has a paid fileplanet account and isn't interested in this beta, I'd love to get your unused key! Pretty hilarious how an "open beta" requires a minimum of 5 bucks to play.

isn't this basically still a closed beta or a limited access beta? ugh
I downloaded 9gb last night looking forward to this but realized I still needed a key to add it to my plaync account

and because fileplanet keys are for "fileplanet" subscribers and not ign insider or whatever subscribers (even though they share the same parent company and site login or something), I can't get myself a key :\

Really the only difference with this is that they let you download the client before signing up for a key, rather than verifying you're a subscriber first and THEN letting you download the client.

I emailed customer support over a week ago and got a response today, so enjoy !

"Hello,

The open beta codes that Fileplanet® has are currently being distributed to members with paid subscriptions. These will begin to be distributed to members without paid Fileplanet subscriptions on Tuesday, September 8, 2009.

My suggestion is to check the Fileplanet site on that day for availability.

Open Beta started 9 a.m. PDT (5 p.m. BST, 6 p.m. CEST) on Sunday, September 6th.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Thank you,
NCsoft Support Team

Hmmmm I do not know, maybe because its an OPEN BETA? I can see wanting to have people pay for it, but do not market it as an Open Beta when it clearly is not. People like you are the reason companies get away with this stupid kind of shit...

Turns out its going to be an open beta afterall. Even though if you get in on tuesday, youll only get 4 days and change.

Pretty much what I figured they were going to do but the question is how many keys did they have for the beta and how many are still left.

"Open" beta just means the nondisclosure agreements are over and you're free to talk about the game.

If you want to try the game, get the preorder disc for $5 at Best Buy and other retailers. You don't actually need to preorder.

It's still an open beta... I hate to say it, a closed beta generally means "You can't come in."

Even if you have to pay, you can easily get in, not to mention had you truly cared about the game you would've known how/where to get into the closed beta at. I don't see the big fucking deal, just whining and complaints.

The deal is because if you already had the game pre-ordered you already got into the closed beta. So making a Open Beta and only making it available to the same people plus the FilePlanet members is not an Open Beta. Also, I can not go to best buy and just pre-order the game for 5 dollars. I need to order it online, so I would need to pay for price.

Well, as of 9 AM (PST) Tuesday September 8th, FilePlanet still gives the message that you must be a paying subscriber to acquire a beta key.

Ditto this, perhaps FilePlanet decided not to go with it, or the support team is feeding us bs?
