Just curious which version people like the most. I played and beat both but I prefer the SNES version. IMO the platforming aspect was better.

I liked both, but SNES more. I thought it looked better, sounded better and had better platforming.
Are they different games? I think I've only played the SNES version.
Yes, the SNES version was developed by Capcom. While the Genesis version was developed by Virgin Interactive.

As for which one I preferred, the SNES version. It might be due to playing that version first, but the platforming was better.

Genesis had the sword.

I do like the look of the SNES one better, the colors seem more authentic, but I like the Genesis one better.

I pick Genesis- I never owned it, but somehow I did commit the level skip code to memory- A,B,B,A,A,B,B,A while paused. I remember going to Disneyland and doing that over and over at a kisosk in a Tomorrowland store until I beat the game. Made me feel good, anwyay. :D

I'll definitely throw my hat in with the SNES version. The Genesis version had an art style that was closer to the movie's animation, but wasn't nearly as colorful as the SNES version.

Virgin Interactive was known for producing a lot of the Disney-liscenced games, and they were known for making some really good sprite animation. So it doesn't surprise me that a lot of people remember the Genesis version fondly for its impressive animations.

In the end though, I still prefer the SNES version, largely for its gameplay, and surprisingly tight controls. I'll echo the claims of solid platforming. They designed the levels well to reward players who had learned to use the controls effectively.

The results are interesting. I was always curious which version people liked more. It seems 2 of 3 people prefer the Genesis version over the SNES.

The marketing for the Genesis version was great. I remember commercials, ads, and playable demos at KB & TRU. I didn't even know a SNES version was out until a year later.

Genesis for me, though I haven't played much of the SNES version (emulation to the rescue!).

Slight detour since we're talking old Disney games. The Lion King was awesome too, though I don't remember if the two versions were different.

It is worth noting that David Perry worked on the Genesis version while Shinji Mikami worked on the SNES version

I loved the snes so much as a kid, but this game there was such a huge difference. The genesis literally SPANKED the shit out of the Snes version that it isn't even a contest. Genesis all the way on this game. Anyone that says otherwise hasn't played the Genesis version or is incredibly blind. I think Virgin interactive did the genesis one and Capcom did the snes one.

I'd take my vote back if I had remembered the Genesis version was the one that had the carpet chase... I should have watched videos or something to remember.

I will go with the SNES version. I found a complete Genesis copy at Goodwill several months ago and played through it, but it didn't quite stand up to what I remembered from renting the SNES game.

Excellent poll. I played both of these again recently, and much preferred the SNES version, just as I did when they first came out. The Genesis version has beautiful graphics and animation, but the SNES version does everything else better, and is a much more fun game.

I just beat the SNES version a few days ago. I realized the bosses (esspecially the last one, snake Jafar) were actually pretty easy when compared to the difficulty of each level. It was a bit shorter than I remember. I beat it within 30 minutes.
