Albums on your MP3 Player You Will Never Delete?

hiccupleftovers

CAGiversary!
Basically I'm reformatting my Ipod to factory settings, but I'm making a list of which albums can go and which are definitely staying. This is still tentative, but so far I know I'm not getting rid of either:

Catch 22's - Keasbey Nights
Streetlight Manifesto - Keasbey Nights
Streetlight Manifesto - Everythings Goes Numb

I don't have an ipod, but ignoring that (and in no particular order) ...

Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine, Broken, The Downward Spiral

Tool - Undertow, Ænima, Lateralus

Queens of the Stone Age - All

The White Stripes - All

Nas - Illmatic

Bright Eyes - Lifted, I'm Wide Awake It's Morning

Pixies - Doolittle

Radiohead - The Bends, OK Computer

Rage Against the Machine - s/t

Shakira - Unplugged

The Cure - Greatest Hits

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - All

Garbage - Version 2.0

I'll keep thinking.

Wait till your Ipod glitches and you have to have it fixed so you rethink what you actually have on there:cry:

Also, you could always just think of this as your must have albums thread.

so none of you save your music on your computer? I keep all my music there in case my ipod goes bad. I do have 14,000 songs though. And only about 100 illegally downloaded.

I took it more of a list of essential albums that have to be on the player. I've got a 150 gig external hd filled with music

At 32 years old, having gone through casette tape walkmen, carrying around CD cases for my discman, a first-gen MP3 player that could hold 10-20 songs total, and now finally an iPod, I know that just about anything can come and go. That said, these albums have been "keepers" for years now:

Beastie Boys - Licensed To Ill
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Miranda Sex Garden - Fairytales Of Slavery
The Sisters Of Mercy - First & Last & Always; Floodland

I have a feeling that Editors' The Back Room and Rotersand's Welcome To Goodbye will be joining that list, as they've been "keepers" for a year or two now, but we'll see how I feel in five years!
None of them because I actually pay for my music.
ever bought anything you didn't like through Itunes? sometimes 30 second clips aren't good enough. Drunk purchases also tend to get deleted.

that said, I have too many to list that I won't delete for the time being. I usually just get rid of experimental music that no longer floats my boat...

Fall Out Boy- From under the cork tree
Arctic Monkeys- Whatever you say I am, I am not.

Those are the only two bands that I have there complete album on my MP3 player.

You people have the worst taste in music.

Anyway

Nunslaughter - Goat
Nunslaughter - Hell's Unholy Fire
Any Rush Album
Any Pink Floyd Album
Any Gwar Album
Any Burzum Album
Any Cannibal Corpse Album
Akercocke - Words that go unspoken, Deeds that go Undone
Iron Maiden

Yet you have both Gwar and Cannibal Corpse. You lose.

I only have my ROKR phone as an MP3 player. But ever since I first purchased it, the Metallica $5.98 EP/Garage Days Re-Revisited has been there. I can only hold 100 songs(less due to the CAGcast), so it's short and doesn't take too much space.

So, go ahead and tell me how bad Metallica sucks.;)

Not not really. I do get tired of the songs or I just forget to even listen to it.
The only thing I don't forget to listen to is the CAGcast.
Oh yeah can't forget These as well

Dream Theater - All
Therion - All
Vital Remains - All
Mortician - Hacked up for Barbeque
I really liked you list until I saw Dream Theater and Mortician.

Also, GWAR is awesome. Cannibal Corpse can be, though it depends on the album.

And when you refer to any Burzum, are you talking just black metal, just ambient, or both?

These are the albums that I couldn't live without:
-everything by Iron Maiden
-Guns N' Roses: Appetite For Destruction
-AC/DC: Back in Black

Here we go, in no particular order:

Brand New - all 3 albums, though I'm in love w/ the newest ATM (Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me)
Live - Mental Jewelry
Against Me! - Reinventing Axl Rose
Smashing Pumpkins - all of them, + some excellent concert bootlegs
Gorilla Biscuits - Start Today
Cold World - Ice Grills
Bad Religion - Against the Grain, Suffer
Alkaline Trio - Maybe I'll Catch Fire
American Nightmare - Background Music

gotcha.

besides bad albums, the only other reason I delete stuff is when it starts over powering my random play lists. I had like 1gb of dub-reggae and 1gb of stereolab albums, so they would always pop up on random...had to put a stop to that.
Dystopia - Human = Garbage
yes.
Gorilla Biscuits - Start Today
Again, yes.

Scouring through mine:
Amebix - Monolith
Amorphis - Tales From the Thousand Lakes
Avail - Satiate
Bikini Kill - The CD Version of the First Two Records
Black Sabbath - All
Danzig - I, II, IV
Neurosis - All
Isis - All
Detestaton - s/t
Dirt - Black and White

Oh, I give up...that's just through the "D"s. I have just under 600 albums on my iPod, so just multiply that by around 10. I'd have an easier time picking out those albums I wouldn't mind deleting.
All of them.

I whittled down a 200+ GB collection into 40 GBs of pure bliss.
38.8 GB - 4604 songs

I would have written the albums but that would have taken forever.

I don't see how some of you guys can have 80-150 gigs worth of music that you can't live without. Shoot, I've only got 9 gigs, and probably about 25% of it I wouldn't mind getting rid of. I'll post mine, even though my musical tastes will probably be ridiculed.

Alkaline Trio - Crimson
Boys Night Out - Trainwreck
Moneen - The Red Tree
The Progress - Merit
The Early November - The Mother, The Mechanic and The Path
I don't see how some of you guys can have 80-150 gigs worth of music that you can't live without.
Music is pretty important for some people. Although I gave away all but ~50 of my cassettes, I am approaching 1000 albums b/w CD (~500) and LP (~350).

I only sold one record ever, but it was an original print Warzone "Don't Forget the Struggle" LP, and it went for $35. My records are precious to me - far more than games or videos, but slightly less than my wife and dog. ;)
Gary Numan - 93
 That's a fuckton of synth, dude.

I just don't see how people can like that much music. You could play me 100 random songs from the genres I like, and I would probably only like 4 or 5 songs.

I listen to music nearly non stop. Shit, I'm currently listening to a 15 hour long playlist of a ton of random shit, and so far it's been awesome. I just keep getting more music too.
Music is pretty important for some people.
I'm one of those peoples. I'll just name a few essential albums for me, in no particular order:

Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine, Evil Empire, The Battle of Los Angeles
The Beatles - Revolver, Abbey Road
Madvillain - Madvillainy
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral, Pretty Hate Machine
The Roots - Game Theory, Things Fall Apart
Queens of the Stone Age - Lullabies to Paralyze
Pharoahe Monch - Internal Affairs
TOOL - Lateralus
A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders
Nas - Illmatic
Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt, The Black Album
2Pac - Me Against the World, All Eyez on Me
Radiohead - The Bends, OK Computer

Okay, that's all for now.
Nah, it isn't that much.

It's only his Living Ornaments albums and The Pleasure Principle.

I can live without it which is why I haven't upgraded my MP3 player, I'm just a completest and packrat.

I try to have the highest quality possible (that's why the filesize is so big, none is FLAC though) and am really big into discographys of artist I like.

Brand New - Deja Entendu
Brand New - Your Favorite Weapon
Brand New - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
Finch - What It Is to Burn
