Alone in the Dark- Uwe Boll Stands Alone

Couple more things:

There was a WHOPPING FOURTEEN PEOPLE IN THE THEATER including my boyfriend and me.

What Socheata said about the editing is right on. The music starts and ends abruptly and often makes no sense with the scene that it is in. In action scenes the camera is so terrible you have no clue wtf is going on. In one scene near the beginning the 180 degree rule (I just learned about it in film studies so sue me for using the term) is so obviously broken and it looks terrible and nonsensical. How Uwe made a worse movie than HOTD is beyond me.

Kristanna Loken as Bloodrayne - excellent move. Ben Kingsley and Michael Madsen - very good choices.
We're not talking about species, are we?
No silly, Kristanna Loken was the T-X, in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines...:D
I'm glad someone got it :)

Geez, you could at least warned us about the spoliers! (just kidding).

Uwe Boll is a genius. Make enough crappy movies and the game companies will start paying him NOT to make movies and he'll be on easy street. Brilliant.

Yeah, it boggles my mind how bad this movie is. AT LEAST there were more people in your theater than there was at mine. I felt like an idiot sitting in there. And even worst watching the movie to the end.

Uwe Boll is indeed a god among men.

This fuckin kills me (from Alexandria's review):
"nice cinematography"

LOL!

Also, Boxofficemojo.com says AITD came in FOURTEEN this week, its opening week. That is a lot worse than HOTD, which I think came in 9. It made $2.5 million in 2,124 theaters. fuckin sad. Hopefully this will tell people not to fund Uwe Boll anymore and Bloodrayne will be his last.

From boxofficemojo:
"Alone in the Dark could describe anyone who went to see this movie. Lions Gate's $20 million video game adaptation snagged an estimated $2.5 million at 2,142 theaters, ranking No. 14 for the weekend. Based on the trailer, the title didn't match the picture either as, accompanied by an army, actor Christian Slater certainly wasn't alone.

Hoping to carve some winter creature feature green like The Relic or Pitch Black did in the past, Alone in the Dark was hampered by looking generic and by showing off its monster wares instead of building a creepy atmosphere. It's another strike-out for its director Uwe Boll, who guided another weak video game adaptation House of the Dead, which opened to $5.7 million in 2003, and who has yet another on the way called Bloodrayne."

HOTD did MORE THAN DOUBLE its opening weekend. That's just fuckin sad.

One more thing: There was supposed to be a Bloodrayne trailer before the movie. Another Uwe Boll broken promise. I found that HIGHLY offensive..

Wow, Pitch Black was an awesome movie. They would have been better off comparing it to the "Chronicles of Ridick"

I was a huge alone in the dark fan back on the PC, and then on the PS1, but theres no way in hell I'm paying to see Alone in the dark, it looks like shit, it's made by a director that has made shit in the past and by god I'd rather by a mcdonalds big mac meal and loose a few more minutes of my life then seeing that damn movie. When will directors get things right when making a damn movie about a damn game. For the love of god, can't gaming developers step in and help make the movies, not some guy that never even touched the damn game.(rant over)

sisco, I haven't played much of AITD (just a demo of the 4th one on DC :/), but it's clear that the only thing in common with the games is the names Edward Carnby and Aline Cedrac. The movie could have been awesome if they actually USED the game's material.... oh, and fired Uwe Boll as director.

Sadly I don't think Uwe Boll will be running out of funding anytime soon. He's a German director and German investors prefer throwing money at one of their countrymen rather than outside projects. But until they come to their senses and realize that they're pissing their money away I suggest we spend our money elsewhere. I dunno if anyone here has heard of these guys but they're worth checking out.

Already have a great fan-made tribute to River City Ransom out on DVD and movies based on Silent Hill, MGS, and Parappa are on the way.

There's an interview with Uwe Boll at IGN.

It seems he's learned how to strike it big at the box office, because he says there is a "hot, erotic" sex scene in Bloodrayne. People will go for that, regardless of the quality of the movie.

He also says he's currently casting for his movie of Dungeon Siege.

By the way, there is a trailer for Bloodrayne online somewhere. Don't know where, my wife downloaded it.

Best avatar ever.

http://www.imdb.com/chart/bottom

It jumped up to 12.. now it's at 10 in IMDB's bottom 100! Come on, let's get it up there as, at least, one of the worst 5 movies of all time!
http://imdb.com/title/tt0400426/

Looks like Boll will be directing Far Cry, too.
Posted in the Bloodrayne topic, sucka! Beat you to the punch! :D

//edit: oh shit, he beat me :(
