Alternatives to Gamefaqs?

I'm sure I'm not the only poster on this site that originally came over from Gamefaqs. Though, I was not one of the people that saw Cheapy on Gamefaqs and was drawn over, much of my online message board fixation grew there.

As many know that site has deteriorated horribly over the past few years from being a great tool for reading about and discussing your favorite video games.

So, I'm wondering if there's a legit alternative (outside of the sister site, Gamespot) to Gamefaqs? Sure the wealth of faqs and full walk-throughs wouldn't be available, but is there something else out there to discuss video games in depth? CAG is great, but discussing games comes second here to discussing deals.

I want to be able to ask a question about a game I'm playing, regardless of how simple and not have to read 2 pages of filth, insults, and other pointless trolling to get to an answer.

So, does such a site exist anymore?

just because you use the faqs doesnt mena you have to use the message board. From my experience the board for lesser known games epically imports have good community.

I've used Gamefaqs as a resource for game knowledge for years now.

I've never posted there once.

In my experience, any question I may have about a game, someone else will also have. I always find the answers to my questions without having to ask them.

I'm not really sure if somehow you have missed an entire section of the forums here. If you go into the console specific forums on CAG (ie: XBox 360, Wii, etc) you will pretty much always be able to find a thread on any remotely popular/recent game as well as pages and pages of discussion. A majority of the time these threads are civil and everyone is helpful but I doubt you will EVER find a forum (especially a gaming one) that doesn't have some amount of attitude.

My friend that showed me the site has used it for a decade now without ever bothering to create an account.

Shouldn't have to be like that though, dammit there has to be a better way.

What could be better than a site with enough traffic that you never actually have to type your question up and wait for a response, but instead just have to find the right thread?
