Am I making the right decision? (Need some advice)

I need a bit of advice on what to do. I currently own all 3 current gen systems as well as a PSP and a DS. I noticed that I haven't been playing my Wii that much since I got it, so I made the decision to sell it. For some reason, I also have the sudden urge to sell off both my 360 and my PSP and just stick with 1 home console and 1 portable system. I really have no clue why I'm even considering this, especially since I play my 360 more than anything. It could be the fact that I don't want to deal with picking which console to get certain games for or the fact that my 360 has RROD'd on me a few times, I'm not overly sure. I did the math and using Gamestop's current promo, I could get close to $600 if I trade in everything I mentioned (including all games), so I could build a pretty nice PS3 library with that. I realize I'd be missing out on a ton of good exclusives in the coming months/years, but alot of the exclusive 360/Wii/PSP games just don't appeal to me. Playing online was a reason I was considering hanging on to my 360, but the person I usually play online with just told me he's going to be getting a PS3 soon from his wife. Please take note that in no way am I trying to troll here (I asked if there were any good Wii games coming soon as a reason to keep it on the Wii board and I got flamed to high hell), I just legitimately need some advice as to which direction to take. Thanks in advance.

It seems to me that you might end up regretting selling your 360. PSP maybe not so much. IMO unless you REALLY need the cash and need to upgrade your PS3 library, Id suggest keeping it only because the money lost selling these outweight the chance that you might want to use these systems later on. Now I could be wrong and you might really want to augment your PS3 collection that much, but it seems you just are getting bored and GS is making it sound smart to trade your system in (which a general rule of thumb is , anything GS makes sound like a good idea, is usually very bad. I call it the fast food effect). I think it all depends on how much you need the trade, otherwise theres no reason to try and get rid of anything. Hell I have my old Dreamcast and NES sitting in my basement somewhere on the off chance I may need to play them, the 360 Im sure will get at least some use in the future.

Since you're not selling them because you need the money, and you'd only use them as credit towards other video games, I'd hang on to them. There's bound to be some games you want to play that come out for the systems.

Plus, if you hang onto the wii, you can always use it as a pickup line. I hear chicks dig the Wii.

yeah, it depends on your needs. if you're strapped for cash, sell it. but if you feel like you'll be wanting to play exclusives later on, maybe hang onto the other systems. wii has an onslaught of first-party titles coming out near summer, along with the newest zelda which cammie dunaway hinted would be released before year's end.

if you're not interested in most of the console-specific exclusives, then whatevs - sell sell sell. just make sure you wont regret it!

I like my PSP more than my DS personally, even though I probably play my DS 2~3x as much, just because it has a bigger library. However, the PSP is great for one thing: PS1 games. I think it's worth the

If you have the time to play them and don't need the cash, you might as well hold on to them.

Personally, there isn't enough games on each system for me to want to own all of them, and I can't go without the Nintendo first party games on the Wii, so that's why I have that. As for the handheld, my PSP is nothing more than an MP3 player atm, and while I'd love to sell it and put the money towards an ipod touch or something, I doubt it is worth much so I don't see the point. DS has fun games, but I could do without it if I absolutely needed to sell it.

Also, I should note that I have a gaming PC, though I don't have a lot of time for it either.

I was in your boat a few months ago and decided to pull the trigger and let the Wii go and hold onto the 360, DS, PSP and PS3 (PS3 was new so I just had to keep it :) ) Looking back, I am glad I sold the Wii as no upcoming titles interest me, and I am glad I kept my 360 because it now doubles as a receiver for my media center for my bedroom.

The PS3 vs 360 debate will always wage war, but it comes down to what system do you play more, and what system do you see yourself purchasing games and actually using.
It could be... the fact that my 360 has RROD'd on me a few times, I'm not overly sure.
It's done it before and there's a huge fucking chance it'll do it again. If anything, I'd suggest selling/trading it in and using the money towards a jasper. Then pick ONE console and buy games for that console only while buying exclusives for the other.

If your debating on consoles on which to keep I would say the ps3. I personally own 24 systems or so including ps3/360/wi/ds/wii and not a fanboy of anything but when it comes to picking my ps3 or my 360 I would pick my ps3. If nothing else because I like the ps3 controller better, the system runs damn near silent compared to the 360 and I can play my games online for free and not be subjected to the bunch of hooting dickholes that make up xbl.

Both systems have 90% of the same games anyway and all the big name titles will be both like modern warfare 2, bioshock 2, assasins creed 2, bad company 2 and so on.

Far as exclusives go I personally like the ones on the ps3 as they have more variety to them. Like uncharted, heavy rain, white knight chronicles, final fantasy 13 vs, ratchet and clank, super stardust hd, god of war 3, demons souls, gran turismo 5, flower, little big planet, metal gear solid 4, infamous and so on.

I also like the fact I can download a movie on my pc, put it on a flash drive, put flash drive in my ps3 and watch the movie on my bigger tv off the flash drive and be able to zoom, fast forward and use the menu options I can for dvds. I like the upconversion it has for dvds well, makes almost all my dvds look pretty damn good, bluray is ok to if you want HD.

So if your really just rather have one console I would get rid of the 360 at lamestop and use the money for ps3 games and pre order ones you want.

And yeah the wii I would say give the heave ho to, the system itself is fine but the games on it are almost all just pure shit. Its either trash made as a quick cash in on the wii name to be boughten by over indulged children or its nintendo desperately trying to tack yet another sequel onto a old franchise. Ive had my wii for about 3 years and I found exactly 3 games on it worth owning. I have spent more time playing gamecube games on my wii than I have playing actual wii games on it.

DS or PSP? Thats a tough one. I mean the DS doesnt have much coming out for it but it does have a pretty decent library of good games on it, same thing with the psp. Maybe you just take the psp and ds games you dont want and trade those in but keep the systems. I mean if your trading in a wii and 360 already you have a nice chunk of change. But this one I say is your call.

I started thinking and I guess it's also partially psychological. I've been really trying to cut back on gaming lately and I guess I believe that if I have fewer systems I'll play alot less. I'm more than likely getting rid of my Wii and PSP, but I'm still iffy on the 360.

Just make a list of anything you are interested in that is 360 exclusive (check out the IGN future release lists or something). If you don't see enough that you like or think you can do without all of those, then go ahead and sell it. Don't forget to include sequels to any 360 exclusive games you would like to play, regardless if they are announced or not. That way you cover your bases in case a sequel does get announced.

I sold my Wii back in early 2008 and haven't missed it once. I just didn't touch it after Mario, Metroid and Zelda and had little desire to play it after getting an HDTV and a 360.

I have a 360 and do all my gaming on it. Never bought a PS3, as I don't game enough to need more than one console and the PS3 exclusives aren't must plays for me. Several games like Uncharted 1 and 2 that I'd like to play, but can live without. But if you aren't gaming much, and prefer the PS3, then there's no harm in selling the 360 if you don't see any exclusives on the horizon that are must plays for you.

Also have DS, but haven't touched it in months. I'd ditch it if it were worth anything. But being a launch DS lite with hinge crack and some light scratches on the screen (not visible while playing) I figure I might as well keep it in case something like New Super Mario Bros 2 or a 2D Metroid or another Castlevania etc. I'd want to play comes out.

Im debating on selling my Wii as well. It used to be my "Brawl Box", but for the past year, every time i feel like playing Brawl (which isn't often) I go down to my local PnT & there r at least 3-4 other people playing. I think the only reason i keep it is cuz its modded, but I still dont use it.

My PS3 I didnt use for over a year, but with the release of Yakuza 3 & FFXIII, I think i'll finally get some use out of it.

Thanks for all the responses. I already sold the PSP and will be selling the Wii probably withing the next 2 weeks, but I'm still about 50/50 on the 360. Who knows what I'll do.

i feel ya man. i had all 3 as well and a ds and psp. i had countless games collecting dust and big backlog. i ended up selling my wii & 360 and havent regretted it one bit. i kept both portables because my gf plays the ds pretty often, i carry the psp with me a lot so that worked out. but only having a ps3, no problem. i only play a few games at any given time, and they are often time multiplatform and the few exclusives that are coming up this year and next that i am looking forward to are on ps3. oh, not to mention i watch blu rays on it.

I would keep the 360 and the PS3. You are going to regret selling off one of them because there is going to be some game down the road you want to play.

Out of curiosity, how much did you get for the PSP, and what version was it?

$55 for the PSP + logitech case. Was a launch PSP, but it's honestly brand new since it's just been in my drawer most of the time.

Thanks. Was expecting about that, but was hoping for more so I had an excuse to sell mine.

I can never advocate selling game systems. You never get as much as you put into it, and you may just regret it later when more games come out. And as far as I can tell from a number of stories I've seen on CAG, people seem to end up re-buying the systems they've sold when that happens. And then they've spent almost twice as much as they had to on a system.

I suppose the only time that would be ok would be when the next generation of systems comes out, development has ground more or less to a halt, and you're sure that nothing is coming out they're you're going to want on it.
Keep the 360, dump the PS3.
Worst advice ever.

I'd keep the 360 if I were you and sell the Wii and PSP (I know you already sold it). You're obviously still undecided on the 360 at this point, which can only mean there's a good chance for regret later on.

OP, you sound like you're a man who values convenience and doesn't have as much time for gaming as he once did. Due to those factors I say go with your gut and sell the 360.

PS3 is a reliable piece of kit with enough games. 360 is great but from what I know outside of the exclusives (which IMO are more or less a wash with the PS3's) it's stregths are the presentation, online multiplayer/social features, and slightly more burgeoning indie gaming scene - all aspects I don't see you using in the near future.

Personally, I've found having one console is a great way to control clutter and simplify your life.

You really can't go wrong here, that's just my 2 cents.

Heres an update for anyone who was interested. I ended up selling my Wii/360/PSP and all the games I owned for them. After it was all over, I had made $55 in cash and about $550 in Gamestop credit. Thanks for the advice everyone, I actually do feel sort of relieved now that I'm down to just PS3 and DS :)

Should have kept the 360 as well. 360 and the PS3 sitting side by side is the ultimate 1-2 punch.

I want to say great choice but I would have kept the Wii (lots of great games that will never come to the PS3), and I wouldn't have given it to GS unless they were broken. Can't go wrong with the DS and PS3 as they've proven they'll last a LONG time. The Wii is fun but whatever. The 360 and PSP just aren't useful enough. One never works and can't keep a worthwhile exclusive, the other tries to do everything BUT play games especially now that they removed the UMD drive.
