Amazon B2G1 on Blu-Ray

I highly recommend Pans Labyrinth to anyone who has not seen it. When I first watched it I was not that impressed because I was planning on watching more of a family movie and it ended up being pretty dark. But I purchased it on Blu Ray and just watched it last week and this time around I thought it was amazing.

Truly a great movie.
I want Pans, but don't know what else to get.
I had the same problem--went with the last Harry Potter and Crank (never seen it, but the reviews on higdefdigest and dvdtalk were both really good)

I went with Blade Runner, The Omega Man, Pan's Labyrinth, Silent Hill and Weeds S1 and S2.
I love these sales, though I'd love to see BOGO again.

Made three orders, including my lop-sided first one with the prior purchase as part of the B2G1:

Click (from prior order that they allowed me to do as part of the B2G1)
Pan's Labyrinth
2001: A Space Odyssey

Big Fish
Layer Cake
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within

Hellboy
Closer
The Aviator
Couldn't resist going in for another order. Got War, Casino Royale, and Ghost Rider, $41.01 shipped. Only got Ghost Rider because with Casino Royale, this also qualifies for the Sony mail-in B2G1 deal, turning this into a B2G2 deal for me.
how you got $5 taken off war?
war is $26 and gr/cr is $21 each

I would like pans and thats it. I just picked up TMNT HD for 7.99 on Amazon from an individual seller. Best price I had seen it at.

Thank you Amazon. You just helped me take another $50 away from BB.
A couple weeks ago, I picked up 3 titles from BB's b2g1 sale. After tax, it was a little over $52. Well, last night I ordered those same titles from Amazon for under $32. And today I returned the other 3 to BB.
Now, what to do with the extra $20 burning a whole in my pocket.

I still have the 10% off HD/BD promotion on my account. Best part is I still got 10% off the movie I got "free", making it actually about negative $2.

I purchased hellboy on 1/12. What exactly did you tell them in order to get the credit. I want to get in on this.
I purchased hellboy on 1/12. What exactly did you tell them in order to get the credit. I want to get in on this.
What I did is that I made an order for the other two movies, and then went into my account information and clicked on the Contact Amazon button (or whatever it was called). I explained to them that I placed an order for Click back a week prior and that it fell under their 30-day price protection, so I should get 2001 for free (which was the cheapest of the three movies between Pan's Labyrinth, 2001 and Click), so they knocked the price down to $0.00. As this caused me to pay shipping, they had to adjust the shipping down to 0. What they should have done is applied a credit to the order equal to the price paid for the cheapest movie and it would've fixed it in one email.

Since you made your order on 01/12, they might tell you to get bent, as it's two days past 30.

Just received my orders today. Pans, Blade Runner and Weeds s2 and then Twilight Zone, Lady in the Water & 2001. I might be going in for a third order, damn you Amazon!

Amazon sure knows how to promise little and deliver big. My initial email said my movies would be shipped on the 19th, yet I see they are already on their way. I am signing up for their chase card so if I get 30$ credit then im diving in for another 3. This list is very strong for me.

Ok, I am done now! I purchase two more orders on top of the first order that should be at my front door now!

1st Order:
- The Last Samurai
- The Departed
- Galapagos (High Def Fish!)

2nd Order:
- Layer Cake
- Blood Diamond
- Goodfellas

I am now officially done ordering. I think I may have to take a break from CAG! Probably won't happen though, haha.

Did 2 orders,
one for click ,casino royale and covenant (so i can do the sony buy 2 get 1 along with this one)
the other for reaping, pans, and kiss kiss bang bang.

Thinking about picking up Weeds seasons 1 & 2 and the Blade Runner 5 disc set. The total would only be $54.90. Very tempting, but i think i need to ponder this one first.

Just snagged two titles from my Top Ten Movies of All-Time list, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY and THE SHINING and took home the awesomely-badass-in-its-own-right FULL METAL JACKET: Deluxe Edition for free. I find it amazing that, this early in the hi-def game, I can already get such wicked versions of some of my most favorite films ever, such as the aforementioned titles, along with CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND and BLADE RUNNER...

once you watch 2001, Bladerunner and the Shining on BR on a 50" 1080p HDTV I don't know how anyone can ever say that BR isn't worth it. Add in Planet Earth and Galapagos and it's even more airtight. It's transcendental.

I opened bladerunner yesterday and the fifth disc was loose. When I inspected the disc there were numerous fingerprints on it. Kinda odd. There are some light scratches but nothing to cry over. The final cut and other discs were perfect. I guess I never thought about how discs get put into the cases, now I know ;)

Picked up:

Blade Runner
Pan's Labyrinth
Letters From Iwo Jima
Training Day
Goodfellas
2001: A Space Odyssey

Had to spend some birthday money on something!
I'm trying to save money.

So I only bought:

Bulitt
Dog Day Afternoon
The Dirty Dozen
You won't be disappointed with Bullit. :applause:

I am spoiled from Amazon's BOGO deal. This B2G1 deal is not that great.

I got 2 boxed sets for about $56 (8 movies). Now if I do the box sets this go round, it'll be about $12.50 movie versus $7.

Pass.

I now sit with a 1000 movie DVD collection (not counting boxed sets) and will be choosey about what and how many movies I buy.

You end up looking at your great "collection" and think about how much money it cost you on movies you may not watch again.

It's bad enough that I own many of these movies on DVD already and movies studios getting me to double dip.

then don't buy them.
Do U know YMMV?

In for

Reservoir Dogs
The Fifth Element
Kung Fu Hustle

Want to get Blade Runner and Pan's Labyrinth but not sure what to pick up as a third...any recommendations?

Oh Busyman, spare us the exposition in the B2G1 threads, if you don't like the prices don't write an essay about it, just don't buy the discs.

Maybe that had something to do with the mix up int he very begining of the Blade Runner being released, and two of the same disc enclosed?

Anyone know how long this deal is going to last? I should have an Amazon GC coming soon, and I'd like to wait to use it, if possible. At least that way I can justify spending even more.

Just happens to be the exact type of HDTV I own, in fact!:applause:

2001 has amazing picture quality that rivals some of today's new releases, but I thought the movie itself was way too weird and boring. I've picked up all the other Kubrick titles out in HD and loved them, but I absolutely couldn't get into this one at all.

dude. it's classic kubrick. 2001 has to be watched multiple times. People never GET 2001 until at least the third time and then that's only when you start to appreciate it. I didn't get clockwork orange until the third time too. 2001 has to be the pinnacle of pre-cgi technical film. you can't watch the film thinking you are gonna be entertained you have to watch the film like it's an experience.

i'd recommend weeds to people

i picked it up from this sale and went through season 1 this weekend, hilarious show

can't wait to get to season 2 and i hope 3 is coming soon

the PQ and story in season 1 starts out slow, but by 4th episode everything looks good and is funny

I'm not knocking you or what films you like, but having to watch something two or three times to "get it" doesn't really fit into something I'm into doing. I don't mind watching a film a second time to pick up other ideas or details I missed, but I want to feel like I got something out of it the first time. That was not the case for me with 2001. I was bored and forced to break it into two viewings since I fell asleep halfway through.

It was just far too slow and plodding for me. I certainly don't want a film to always be obvious, but I don't wanna put in 5 or 6 hours watching it over and over to get the point.

The deal ended at the perfect time. Nothing would be in stock much longer with HDDVD officially suicided. Toshiba just surrendered.

It's a real pity, I don't think we will see BOGOs nearly as frequently with big red out of the way. I was about to make a second order today but looks like I missed out. I supported both formats so maybe we can get some nice fire sales out of it, but still disappointed over all :-({|=

Yeah, because Blu-ray is winner, we will not see any BOGOs.

In fairness, it probably wouldn't be any different if HD-DVD was the winner.

Looks like Amazon will be losing out on my $50. Not that it matters but oh well. I'll have to find another way to get the Resident Evil trilogy for cheap.

Blu-ray still has to compete with DVD for market share, so there's still incentive for sales on BD movies.
