I'm almost sure that "The latest installment from this legendary fighting series" is referring to Street Fighter IV, unfortunately.

It's Black Friday. We expect the deals to at least be better than those offered at other time of the year, or at least in greater quantity and on more desirable titles.

Some lightning deals are actually priced higher than their competitions' prices. Not much of a lightning deal then, is it?

Compared to last year -- yeah, I'd say these WERE "terrible." In 2008 there were a smattering of brand new release titles for $19 and $29 -- there was nothing even remotely resembling that this year.

If you were looking for a system bundle, sure OK, you got something, but that was pretty much it. Even Batman for $29, while a good deal, was for a game that's been out for months. Again, not even close to matching the excitement of a year ago.

Because a preview of some of the deals was posted on Kotaku and Assassin's Creed for $10 was one of them and it took place about the same time as the deal is scheduled. Oh, that and Assassin's Creed II was ALREADY discounted for the crappy price of $50 a couple days ago.

The Left 4 Dead 2 and Dragon Age discounts weren't bad; both games are fairly new and $35 is decent.

I think the disappointment is actually more about the lack of discounts on slightly lower-profile items. While there were a few 'big' titles last year, a lot of the fun of the thing was digging through the stack of discounts to find one or two unexpected purchases, priced so low as to be impulse buys. There's been very little in the way of random $10-and-below games this year, and most of the best deals are just matching prices we'd known about for a while, so not as much in the way of surprises. I'm hoping last year's pattern holds and Symphonia and Klonoa come back, but am not getting my hopes up.

I got the one thing I wanted from Black Friday (L4D2 360 for $35), and will probably pick up at least the $100 Beatles CD set in a few hours, but Amazon's BF this year is shaping up to be respectable, but nothing compared to the random insanity of last year. Still, kept me from having to fight the crowds, so I'm happy.

I agree. I was hoping to find crazy deals on stuff I was interested in, but passed on to wait for a lower price. I did manage to get Fight Night Round 4 for $15 from Game Crazy so it hasn't been a total loss so far.

I just had the page for it up no more than a couple hours ago too. Could have sworn it said it was for all of today at least. Hopefully it's just some weird glitch. They don't appear to be out of stock on either item anyways.

It does seems like there are no real super crazy deals like last years Xbox 360 Arcade Bundle with DDR for $125 that was great to get in on. I guess the DJ Hero 360 deal was the closest so far which I am glad to have picked up since the demo unit at Best Buy has made me want to get this even though I still have a sealed PS2 Beatmania I got on Target clearance a while back that I never played due to the poor song list. That Tekken PS3 Arcade Stick bundle last week or so was a much better deal then most of the Black Friday stuff. Still they got a bunch of my money as they matched most of the prices for things I wanted at other stores so I do not have to brave the long lines later today.

If you look at an item's description, it says "Limited quantities available for black friday" yada yada if it's gonna be the lightning deal. If a similar game is available as a lightning deal but not the specific game you're looking at, it'll say "check black friday for deals" yada yada.

AC1 has "limited quantities available" but AC2 doesn't.
