Here is a list of all the known games on Amazon that come with a gift card or gaming credit. If the Amazon price decreases between your order time and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price. Release date delivery is available on many of these titles, which is free for Amazon Prime members.

The status of these offers fluctuates. Please read the details on the Amazon product page before ordering.

Amazon Credit & GC Deals FAQ by Lucian[hiddenlist]

1. What is Amazon game credit? How is it different than a gift card?
Amazon game credit is a discount off a new order only. This means it cannot be applied to an existing order, unlike a gift card that can be applied at any time. Occasionally, a CAG will report that customer service applied a game credit balance to an existing order, but this is extremely YMMV.

In addition, game credits can only be used on gaming items. This generally includes all games and accessories for consoles, handhelds, and PC shipped and sold by Amazon. Credits usually cannot be used on systems (either console or handheld). As far as digital content is concerned:
- Xbox Live codes sent via email - No
- Xbox Live physical points cards - Yes
- PSN codes sent via email - Yes (confirmed by grantme 7/3/2011)
- PSN physical wallet cards - Yes (someone please confirm via PM)
- PC game downloads - Not sure (someone please advise via PM)

2. What about the expiration date? Does this mean I can't use it on a preorder that releases after the expiration date?
The expiration date is the date by which a qualifying order must be placed. The order does not need to ship by that date; however, if you cancel the order after the the credit expires, it is gone and cannot be recovered.

3. Can I stack game credit?
Yes, you can stack game credit to your heart's content. However, remember that each game credit has an expiration date and must be used prior to the expiration date. Currently, Amazon does not provide information on your credit balance through their website, so either track it yourself or call customer service for assistance.

4. When will I get my game credit or gift card?
The exact timeframe is specified on the product page in the section detailing the game credit, but it is usually 2 business days. The game credit or gift card will be deposited into your account and you should receive an email notification once that occurs. Of course, it is possible for email delivery failure, so you can check your account depending on the type of bonus:
- Gift card - Go to your account and check your gift card balance
- Game credit - See FAQ #9 below 'How can I check my credit balance?'

Please wait the expected time frame before contacting customer service asking for your credit.

5. Can I use game credit and gift cards on the same order?
Yes.

6. I want to order two (2) copies of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 because of the $15 game credit. Will I get $30 in credit?
No. Game credit offers are limited to 1 per household per title, so you will only receive 1 game credit.

7. What if I order one (1) copy of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 for PS3 and one (1) copy for Xbox 360? Will I get 2 game game credits now?
No. CAGs have reported only receiving 1 credit per title even though the titles are for different platforms (i.e., have different SKUs).

8. A credit was just added to a game that I already had preordered. Do I need to cancel my order to qualify for the credit?
No. To date, all game credit promotions have had verbiage indicating that This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders.. To be 'safe', you may want to get a screenshot of the promotion as proof should you need to contact customer service after the game ships.

9. How can I check my credit balance?
Place a preorder for any title to see how much promotional credit is applied. Cancel the order and the promotional credit will be released back to your account as long as it has not yet expired.

Also, Amazon recently added the ability to view your balance on the MP3 download screen. Go to any MP3 download page and look for a blue splat with a $ in it; it's right below the purchase button. Click the link next to the blue splat that says 'Redeem a gift card or promotion code & view balance' and a pop-up will display available credit. Videogame credits will display under the category 'SOFTWARE/VIDEO GAMES', but may contain credit applicable only to software downloads.

Other Amazon-related questions

1. Why does my order say the estimated ship date is a week after release?
Amazon prioritizes shipping for Prime members and those who paid for shipping over those taking advantage of their Free Super Saver Shipping (FSSS) option. Sometimes this means that a preorder will not ship for a few days after release, though I've never had an order take as long as they estimate. I expect their estimates accomplish 2 things:
- It covers their worst case scenario backlog and makes you feel better when it ships earlier than estimated.
- It's a nice marketing ploy to get you to either pay for shipping or sign-up for Amazon Prime.

2. My Amazon Prime or Prime trial is going to expire in a few days. What happens to my existing orders or preorders?
Amazon Prime (whether a full membership or a trial) applies to all orders placed during the Prime membership period. This means that if you preorder an item that ships months after your Prime expires, that order will still be covered under your Prime benefits (i.e., free standard or 2-day shipping and sometimes release-date delivery). If an item becomes eligible for Release Date Delivery (RDD) and you already have it preordered with 2-day shipping, it will automatically be upgraded to RDD even if your Prime has since expired. However, if you need to change the payment method (e.g., if your credit card has expired) on an order after your Prime has expired, your Prime benefits on that order will be lost. In this situation, you can apply a gift card balance without affecting Prime benefits.
not a big deal... so when do they charge my card then? right away or upon release date? if its release date, ill do the B2G1 deal anyway :D
You wont get charged until it ships.

Amazon must really be driving their pre-order numbers up with these $20 giftcard offers. I've already pre-ordered Madden and Reach, two games I was really on the fence about.

i totally feel you on that! its a war between them and WM.com....i hope it keeps going!! its hard to say who has it up first though....

Apologies if this has been answered already, but this thread is 100+ pages long and I can't scan the whole thing. Does the $20 credit for Reach also apply to preorders that were placed before Amazon set up the $20 credit? Or do we have to reorder if we want to get it? (I have goldbox+ECA coupon on my preorder, so I'm reluctant to cancel.)

All such offers are generally extended to existing pre-orders.
Order Halo Reach and get $20 off a future video game purchase. The promotion code will be applied directly to your Amazon.com account up to two (2) business days after your product ships. To redeem your reward, add a Video Games item sold and shipped by Amazon.com to your shopping cart and proceed to checkout. The discount will be visible after you have begun the checkout process. Offer valid when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time. Offer valid for one purchase per customer. Here's how (restrictions apply)

To answer the "will I keep my credit if I cancel?" questions:

I ordered SMG2 yesterday and used a $10 credit from God of War III on it. Today, SMG2 popped-up in my quick picks. I took a chance and cancelled yesterday's original order that had my $10 credit used on it. When I re-ordered SMG2 today, the $10 credit was still in my account and was re-applied to my new order.

So...as long as your credit hasn't expired, you should be able to cancel and re-order if you need to.

Thank you very much for the confirmation!

Was really hoping Amazon would have some offers on the more niche titles coming out this summer such as Valkyria Chronicles 2 and P3P.

Mario was showing up as $47.49 with $20 coupon in my Quick Pick (middle of the Gold Box page) today. You should check if you are the lucky ones too.

Here's my question--I too bought BC2 with the promotion, and got the same notice--I've used it towards Peace Walker (thus bringing it to a whopping $17 with the credit)--but will I get the ADDITIONAL $10 future purchase now that they've added it post-order to mine?

I'm thinking no--likely one discount or the other, so I'd rather just stick with my $20 off and consider it a win. Think I'll give 'em a call to double check.

UPDATE: No. However, I can cancel the order and re-order it, still get the existing $20 credit applied, and the additional $10 future credit--but I ordered the game when it was $36.99, so all I'd really get is $7 credit since I'd lose $3 from the price hike. I'll stick with my current deal and treat it as a rousing success.

Um.. you will get the $10 credit from peace walker... if you don't get them email them afterwards and they will give it to you...

The thing is... amazon typically has crazy good customer service (even tho I've had quite a bit of problem with them the last couple weeks... think I've just been unlucky and getting newbies) but most of their people don't know their promotions or even understand how they work....

the $20 from BC2 is just like cash... it has no bearing on the promotion for PW... not to mention this clause "Promotion valid on all existing pre-orders." so doesn't matter if you ordered today or 15 years ago...

I long since just gave up on that. Occasionally I'll get a graphic novel or science fiction book or game in my quickpicks, but the rest of the time I'm getting jackhammers and snakes and tire irons or some random thing that has nothing to do with anything I've ever bought

Somehow I think I lucked into it back last year, jumped on it, plus now hopefully will get the $20, so really good deal!

I'm no fan of the Wii, but Galaxy 1 is so good it's almost worth owning a Wii just for that one game!

Out of all the tips I would give for goldbox picks the most important are orders. Real actual orders, or in this case because you don't want to buy 10 games just to get 5% off another game, pre-orders that you will cancel later. I was following all the advice: pruning recommendations, checking "I own"/5 stars for similar items, having all unrelated purchases as "do not use for recommendations" and everything else that was mentioned with like 10% success rate. Once I started putting fake pre-orders in, I could get ANY game in my quick picks that could possibly show up(remember, some things just will not show up for some reason, so you're sol on those titles).

So I purchased SMG2 a few days ago and still haven't been billed. What's up with that? Do they not charge you until it ships?
So I purchased SMG2 a few days ago and still haven't been billed. What's up with that? Do they not charge you until it ships?
Correct. They only charge once the item ships. With the pre-order price guarantee, there's not much to lose pre-ordering games from Amazon.
Tempted to grab SMG2 just because of the credit, it's a game I wanna play, but $30 brand new is almost too good to pass up.
If you need some convincing, it won't see a price drop for awhile since it's a 1st party Nintendo game.

srsly. It takes forever for nintendo games to drop in price.

I ordered Mario, but how long do you think the Halo Reach $20 credit will last?

With amazon's track record, probably till release. However, put an order in now, cancel and re-order with your SMG2(or whatever game) credit down the road if the reach credit is still offered will probably be your safest bet.

Sounds like a plan. Thanks much.

Moto GP 09/10 is no longer part of the promotion. Just Cause 2 is now offering $10 credit instead of $15.

1. Don't talk down to me with your "um..." like I'm a moron and should have known better.

2. Um... you didn't understand what I was asking. I'm fully aware my BC2 credit has no stacking ability with the PW $10. What I was asking was if I could get grandfathered in to COLLECTING the PW credit on my existing pre-order that I'm using my BC2 credit ON Peace Walker which didn't have the PW $10 offer at the time.

3. I called customer service shortly after I posted, hence my update and answering my own question for the benefit of others. Their customer service is either the worst or the best depending on who you get. That day I got lucky--I got a fella who didn't know, but got a clear-cut answer from his supervisor. Most of the time I get an operator from an outsourced foreign conglomerate who you can tell is flipping through a book of pre-existing general answers.

So, um...I hope that clears your confusion up.

I was about to order Galaxy 2, but the estimated arrival date was the 26th. How does the release date delivery work? I'm an Amazon Prime member btw.

I guess they ship it to you before the launch date, trying to aim at getting it to you at launch. Personally I couldn't care less when I get a new game/book/whatever though. When you have over 100 games in your backlog it becomes pretty irrelevant

i don't think he was really talking down to you there, and also you are right that most of the time the customer service don't know about the promotions, and the people you talked to didn't know either. every one of the $10(or more) video game credit offers all say "applies to existing preorders" and i've personally pre ordered 4-5 games that later got a credit offer and was able to get it without having to cancel the order. so like he had said, you will either get the $10 promotion automatically, or if amazon's automated system misses your order, you can email/call them and they'll manually add the credit to your account.

Tell me about it, they've been rediculous about that this generation. They really need to stop milking the cash cow...

I can't view one of my large order's details anymore, haven't been able to for days. Anyone ever run into this problem before? Guess I need to contact amazon.

They overnight you the item the day before release date.

Always $10. I was hoping for $15 cause then I would drop my preorder at GS (cause man do I hate giving money to GS), but right now I have the tri bundle preordered for $50 and it includes a 500 wii points card.

I haven't been able to view my largest order for quite some time now but I can still have CS add items to it without a hitch so I'm not terribly concerned. I'd be interested to know if they have a solution for you.

Yeah same position, had em add ps3 blazblue yesterday. It just shipped with all the correct discounts. One thing I have seen is that when you go to cancel an item you can atleast see what the prices are all at, incase you're wondering if something dropped correctly on a pre-order.

My ECA holdout order has been like that for months. :) But yeah, you can hit the cancel items button and see all of the unshipped items and their current prices.

Interesting! I have two of those orders placed, one works one doesn't. Both were placed on the same day with the same discount, though the one that doesn't let me view it is quite a bit larger. Mine only quit letting me view it a week or two ago.
If the purchase is $20 or over all of it will be used. Anything less and it still gets used first and the balance is left over.
Great thank you!
