Here is a list of all the known games on Amazon that come with a gift card or gaming credit. If the Amazon price decreases between your order time and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price. Release date delivery is available on many of these titles, which is free for Amazon Prime members.

The status of these offers fluctuates. Please read the details on the Amazon product page before ordering.

Amazon Credit & GC Deals FAQ by Lucian[hiddenlist]

1. What is Amazon game credit? How is it different than a gift card?
Amazon game credit is a discount off a new order only. This means it cannot be applied to an existing order, unlike a gift card that can be applied at any time. Occasionally, a CAG will report that customer service applied a game credit balance to an existing order, but this is extremely YMMV.

In addition, game credits can only be used on gaming items. This generally includes all games and accessories for consoles, handhelds, and PC shipped and sold by Amazon. Credits usually cannot be used on systems (either console or handheld). As far as digital content is concerned:
- Xbox Live codes sent via email - No
- Xbox Live physical points cards - Yes
- PSN codes sent via email - Yes (confirmed by grantme 7/3/2011)
- PSN physical wallet cards - Yes (someone please confirm via PM)
- PC game downloads - Not sure (someone please advise via PM)

2. What about the expiration date? Does this mean I can't use it on a preorder that releases after the expiration date?
The expiration date is the date by which a qualifying order must be placed. The order does not need to ship by that date; however, if you cancel the order after the the credit expires, it is gone and cannot be recovered.

3. Can I stack game credit?
Yes, you can stack game credit to your heart's content. However, remember that each game credit has an expiration date and must be used prior to the expiration date. Currently, Amazon does not provide information on your credit balance through their website, so either track it yourself or call customer service for assistance.

4. When will I get my game credit or gift card?
The exact timeframe is specified on the product page in the section detailing the game credit, but it is usually 2 business days. The game credit or gift card will be deposited into your account and you should receive an email notification once that occurs. Of course, it is possible for email delivery failure, so you can check your account depending on the type of bonus:
- Gift card - Go to your account and check your gift card balance
- Game credit - See FAQ #9 below 'How can I check my credit balance?'

Please wait the expected time frame before contacting customer service asking for your credit.

5. Can I use game credit and gift cards on the same order?
Yes.

6. I want to order two (2) copies of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 because of the $15 game credit. Will I get $30 in credit?
No. Game credit offers are limited to 1 per household per title, so you will only receive 1 game credit.

7. What if I order one (1) copy of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 for PS3 and one (1) copy for Xbox 360? Will I get 2 game game credits now?
No. CAGs have reported only receiving 1 credit per title even though the titles are for different platforms (i.e., have different SKUs).

8. A credit was just added to a game that I already had preordered. Do I need to cancel my order to qualify for the credit?
No. To date, all game credit promotions have had verbiage indicating that This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders.. To be 'safe', you may want to get a screenshot of the promotion as proof should you need to contact customer service after the game ships.

9. How can I check my credit balance?
Place a preorder for any title to see how much promotional credit is applied. Cancel the order and the promotional credit will be released back to your account as long as it has not yet expired.

Also, Amazon recently added the ability to view your balance on the MP3 download screen. Go to any MP3 download page and look for a blue splat with a $ in it; it's right below the purchase button. Click the link next to the blue splat that says 'Redeem a gift card or promotion code & view balance' and a pop-up will display available credit. Videogame credits will display under the category 'SOFTWARE/VIDEO GAMES', but may contain credit applicable only to software downloads.

Other Amazon-related questions

1. Why does my order say the estimated ship date is a week after release?
Amazon prioritizes shipping for Prime members and those who paid for shipping over those taking advantage of their Free Super Saver Shipping (FSSS) option. Sometimes this means that a preorder will not ship for a few days after release, though I've never had an order take as long as they estimate. I expect their estimates accomplish 2 things:
- It covers their worst case scenario backlog and makes you feel better when it ships earlier than estimated.
- It's a nice marketing ploy to get you to either pay for shipping or sign-up for Amazon Prime.

2. My Amazon Prime or Prime trial is going to expire in a few days. What happens to my existing orders or preorders?
Amazon Prime (whether a full membership or a trial) applies to all orders placed during the Prime membership period. This means that if you preorder an item that ships months after your Prime expires, that order will still be covered under your Prime benefits (i.e., free standard or 2-day shipping and sometimes release-date delivery). If an item becomes eligible for Release Date Delivery (RDD) and you already have it preordered with 2-day shipping, it will automatically be upgraded to RDD even if your Prime has since expired. However, if you need to change the payment method (e.g., if your credit card has expired) on an order after your Prime has expired, your Prime benefits on that order will be lost. In this situation, you can apply a gift card balance without affecting Prime benefits.

I'm not sure. I thought it was strange that it ended so early before release, so that does make sense. Maybe if it comes back it will be at $20. :)

That would be sweet! Or maybe the system will automatically send off the gift cards before it even ships... (and then it gets a video game credit.)
It stated on the product page that you must pre-order before April 26 to qualify for the bonus. The promotion didn't disappear, it just ended.
Ok didn't see that. Good to know though; I placed my order on the 23rd.

Sorry if already posted but Amazon has matched the $10 credits from gamestop on Bioshock 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City.

They've also matched the price drops for Demons Souls and Splinter Cell Conviction (but no credits with them).
^I dont see that
Look for the "Special Offers and Product Promotions" section. $10 gaming credit offers were added to FF13 and Bioshock 2 as well.

just grabbed episodes from liberty city for ps3 because of the credit,

I'm hoping red dead redemption gets the credit back soon, otherwise I'll be forced to get it from gamestop...or wait for a price drop...

Didn't see that on the Amazon preorder. I guess I'm going to have to preorder at GS. I was hesitating on the preorder hoping to see a LE but with the end of that promotion, I'll be looking elsewhere unless they bring it back.

Hmm...can't get the Skate 3 promo to show on my checkout screen. I put through like 4 games but it was the only one out of the group that didn't show. Odd.
Red Dead Redemption pre-order promo is back.
The promo is back, but the details still say the 26th. Can anyone confirm or deny that this is valid?

Amazon has also matched gamestops $10 gaming credits for Splinter Cell Conviction, Bad Company 2, and Mass Effect 2.

I'd assume that the offer is back and indeed valid, and that the fine print has just not been updated. However, I'd like to know for sure as well before ordering a copy.
Just to make sure: you don't get charged until it ships, correct?
Yes
Can anyone confirm that video game credit can be used on PC games as well?
Yeah the video game credits can be used on anything in the video games category.
Yeah the video game credits can be used on anything in the video games category.
Thanks for the timely answer. I just wasn't sure how nitpicky they were.

On a somewhat related note, I know they cannot be used on Xbox Live codes sent via email, but can be used on physical cards.

Can anyone confirm if the credits can or cannot be used on the following items?
 • I've heard that they can be used on PSN codes sent via email. Is this true?
 • What about PC downloads?
 • And last, what about on Warehouse Deals items? Anyone know if they work on these items? Technically, they are shipped from and sold by Amazon, but I've never tried it.

In case anyone's wondering why I'm asking, I'm compiling a list of FAQs that will hopefully get added to the first post because we get alot of the same questions over and over again. If you answer any of these questions, I'll of course credit you.

Yes, I noticed that too :) It doesn't say when it expires but I am assuming until Gamestop ends their promo, correct?

That's what I assumed as well, but wanted to make sure.

Well I emailed Amazon CS regarding the Red Dead promo credit and they just got back with me. Here is the response:

Hello,

I've researched this promotion, and I see that this promotion has expired but it is still displayed on our website and I'm sorry for this.
Specifically, this promotion is only applied to the orders placed on or before April 26.

However, I've passed this to appropriate department and it will be soon corrected.

In the meantime, you may wish to visit other areas of our website for great deals everyday.

Assuming this info is correct, guess I'll be looking to pre order elsewhere.
Was that the game's old release date though? I wonder if amazon just screwed up after it got pushed back.
Yeah, it was the old release date and i'm assuming that's why the promo disappeared the other day.
But now the offer is back up, however still reads that the it expires on the 26th.
Which is why I emailed them to see if they were going to extend the promo credit to the new release date or not.

According to this they're not extending the credit to the new date
and the offer is no longer valid.
That or this person didn't know what they were talking about.

Thanks for following up on it and letting me know, I really appreciate it. I guess I'll start looking elsewhere as well. Strange that the promo was removed then put back up. Hopefully they'll change the details on the promo.

I'm betting you'll be safe ordering Red Dead Redemption from Amazon. If nothing else just take a screen shot of the $10 credit and complain if you don't get one and I bet they'll give it to you.

eh nvm. Guess I can cancel reorder SMG2 if the promo is still around.
Wow I got my SSFIV costume code emailed to me and it hasn't even shipped yet. I could totally cancel and score a free code if I wanted to.
It's probably in the "preparing to ship" status so you wouldn't be able to cancel it if you wanted too. (Also make sure you get your 10 credit for the game.)

I have Mario Galaxy 2 pre-ordered with the $20 promo, if I were to pre-order Tiger Woods 11 now, would I be able to apply the $20 to that since Galaxy 2 comes out before Tiger Woods, or would I need to have the coupon already before placing the order?

You would already need to have the coupon before placing the order.

If you look at the confirmation e-mail they send you for your order, it says that the promo $20 off doesn't start until the game ships

Thanks, that's what I figured. I'm tempted to pick up Tiger Woods 11 even though I avoid buying sports games new since they drop in price so quickly. But that's a good deal, even if it couldn't use the other credit. I haven't been paying much attention to these gift card deals, how long before the game is released have the gift card deals been disappearing?

Typically they have been staying up until the release date.
