Here is a list of all the known games on Amazon that come with a gift card or gaming credit. If the Amazon price decreases between your order time and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price. Release date delivery is available on many of these titles, which is free for Amazon Prime members.

The status of these offers fluctuates. Please read the details on the Amazon product page before ordering.

Amazon Credit & GC Deals FAQ by Lucian[hiddenlist]

1. What is Amazon game credit? How is it different than a gift card?
Amazon game credit is a discount off a new order only. This means it cannot be applied to an existing order, unlike a gift card that can be applied at any time. Occasionally, a CAG will report that customer service applied a game credit balance to an existing order, but this is extremely YMMV.

In addition, game credits can only be used on gaming items. This generally includes all games and accessories for consoles, handhelds, and PC shipped and sold by Amazon. Credits usually cannot be used on systems (either console or handheld). As far as digital content is concerned:
- Xbox Live codes sent via email - No
- Xbox Live physical points cards - Yes
- PSN codes sent via email - Yes (confirmed by grantme 7/3/2011)
- PSN physical wallet cards - Yes (someone please confirm via PM)
- PC game downloads - Not sure (someone please advise via PM)

2. What about the expiration date? Does this mean I can't use it on a preorder that releases after the expiration date?
The expiration date is the date by which a qualifying order must be placed. The order does not need to ship by that date; however, if you cancel the order after the the credit expires, it is gone and cannot be recovered.

3. Can I stack game credit?
Yes, you can stack game credit to your heart's content. However, remember that each game credit has an expiration date and must be used prior to the expiration date. Currently, Amazon does not provide information on your credit balance through their website, so either track it yourself or call customer service for assistance.

4. When will I get my game credit or gift card?
The exact timeframe is specified on the product page in the section detailing the game credit, but it is usually 2 business days. The game credit or gift card will be deposited into your account and you should receive an email notification once that occurs. Of course, it is possible for email delivery failure, so you can check your account depending on the type of bonus:
- Gift card - Go to your account and check your gift card balance
- Game credit - See FAQ #9 below 'How can I check my credit balance?'

Please wait the expected time frame before contacting customer service asking for your credit.

5. Can I use game credit and gift cards on the same order?
Yes.

6. I want to order two (2) copies of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 because of the $15 game credit. Will I get $30 in credit?
No. Game credit offers are limited to 1 per household per title, so you will only receive 1 game credit.

7. What if I order one (1) copy of Newborn Ninja Assassins 2 for PS3 and one (1) copy for Xbox 360? Will I get 2 game game credits now?
No. CAGs have reported only receiving 1 credit per title even though the titles are for different platforms (i.e., have different SKUs).

8. A credit was just added to a game that I already had preordered. Do I need to cancel my order to qualify for the credit?
No. To date, all game credit promotions have had verbiage indicating that This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders.. To be 'safe', you may want to get a screenshot of the promotion as proof should you need to contact customer service after the game ships.

9. How can I check my credit balance?
Place a preorder for any title to see how much promotional credit is applied. Cancel the order and the promotional credit will be released back to your account as long as it has not yet expired.

Also, Amazon recently added the ability to view your balance on the MP3 download screen. Go to any MP3 download page and look for a blue splat with a $ in it; it's right below the purchase button. Click the link next to the blue splat that says 'Redeem a gift card or promotion code & view balance' and a pop-up will display available credit. Videogame credits will display under the category 'SOFTWARE/VIDEO GAMES', but may contain credit applicable only to software downloads.

Other Amazon-related questions

1. Why does my order say the estimated ship date is a week after release?
Amazon prioritizes shipping for Prime members and those who paid for shipping over those taking advantage of their Free Super Saver Shipping (FSSS) option. Sometimes this means that a preorder will not ship for a few days after release, though I've never had an order take as long as they estimate. I expect their estimates accomplish 2 things:
- It covers their worst case scenario backlog and makes you feel better when it ships earlier than estimated.
- It's a nice marketing ploy to get you to either pay for shipping or sign-up for Amazon Prime.

2. My Amazon Prime or Prime trial is going to expire in a few days. What happens to my existing orders or preorders?
Amazon Prime (whether a full membership or a trial) applies to all orders placed during the Prime membership period. This means that if you preorder an item that ships months after your Prime expires, that order will still be covered under your Prime benefits (i.e., free standard or 2-day shipping and sometimes release-date delivery). If an item becomes eligible for Release Date Delivery (RDD) and you already have it preordered with 2-day shipping, it will automatically be upgraded to RDD even if your Prime has since expired. However, if you need to change the payment method (e.g., if your credit card has expired) on an order after your Prime has expired, your Prime benefits on that order will be lost. In this situation, you can apply a gift card balance without affecting Prime benefits.

Depends on what genres you like. I'm obsessed with JRPGs, so reviewers bitching about long games, complicated battle systems, or not pretty enough graphics means 0 to me.
Still contemplating Portal 2 while the $20 credit is still available...
Can we still get it even if it says it is for a Pre-Order?

edit - nvm, it says either on or before so yes!

Just because you liked a game that had a lower score from others doesnt make reviews less important. If a game gets all 9s and up, it probably meamns its good, but doesnt mean you have to like it and vice versa for a game rated lower. I use reviews to see what a game is about and if it has things that bother me, like long load times and/or game breaking bugs and glitches. A score above 9 would be great, but a score under 7 wont stop me either if I think I like the genre/gameplay.

That being said, I wasnt really interested in Portal, but seeing all the sites say how great and witty it is has me thinking of getting it down the road.

Nice blanket statement. Reminds me of comments on Youtube. Next up, COD sucks and Wii is a failure right?

On-topic: From my email it seems I received $20 + $5 credit for Portal 2. I'm guessing there was a $5 credit promotion awhile back and Amazon forgot to remove that when they replaced it with the $20 one. I remember people talking about this happening for Pokemon B&W too.

Gives a good reason to throw down a pre-order for any you want as soon as possible... Just don't forget to cancel the order if you change your mind :p
Dont do it
I heard theres only 8 hours and its too easy
Its got a 5.2 out of 10 on metacritic
It's 2 and a half the size of portal one and that's not including co-op, just singleplayer.

The reason it has a 5.2 on metacritic is every fucking whiner out there crying that there is a store selling cosmetic skins (and only skins like they do hats on TF2), omg valve is the evil empire so this game sucks I am going to rate it a 0. Plus if you buy it for PS3 you get a free PC copy.

Also I would like to say game length does not mean everything, I got like 5 hours out of bulletstorm and I got my money's worth which I bought at retail. I spent more hours on DA II and got less enjoyment.

I got portal 2 and $25 for some reason. They gave me a $20 credit and $5 credit. I thought it was maybe because they were offering the $5 off + $20 credit, but my subtotal had already reflected that $5 off in the cart. That happen to anyone else? I'm definitely not complaining, but it is weird.
idk if it has been asked but if i was to buy 2 portal 2s for 360 would i get 40$ in amazon credit?
No, and on that one no amount of bitching to different Arabian CS reps would change it. lol

Just got my Portal 2 & MK credits, & I put it towards a Turtle Beach 7.1 Headset (MSRP $199.99, -$50 from Amazon just because they are awesome, then -$30 Credit from the 2 games, $0.00 for shipping BC of Prime, then finally +$10 for Tax, for $130) BIG THUMBS UP:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Damn. The Portal 2 bonus offer has been reduced to $15. I was just about to order too...
If you take a screen shot and contact CS if necessary you can still get $20 credit. The fine print says: Order Portal 2 on or before 4/23/2011 for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 and receive $20 in promotional credit toward the purchase of items shipped and sold by Amazon.com
Damn. The Portal 2 bonus offer has been reduced to $15. I was just about to order too...
I wish MK had that credit...and as said earlier, you can definitely try to get it adjusted with a SS.

I ordered Portal 2 and called customer service. They said the credit was only $15 so I cancelled. It probably depends on what rep you get but I wasn't in the mood to argue. I will just pick it up later when it goes on sale.

I won't throw a fit since it's only $5 difference and it's still $8 cheaper then buying in store for me.

On a related note where do I find the credit when it shows up?

You will get an email that says it is now in your account. When you go to buy something else at Amazon it will automatically be applied to that order.

I know I said I wouldn't fuss but I just said what the hell and shot them an email, guess what? The rep kicked me an extra $5 credit.:bouncy:

Anyone on the fence about ordering Portal 2 since it says a $15 credit, I wouldn't worry about it. I sent a follow up email after placing my order and within 30 minutes I got a reply that they had added an additional $5 credit to my account as well. Seems like the credit is still good if you just ask for it(which you should, since their website says it is.)

i just got my $20 credit and realized that it can be used on anything sold by Amazon, unlike other credits that have to be used on games only. kinda cool cause i was about to order some bluetooth headphones

i definitely should have ordered portal 2 earlier but even with the promo dropping to $15 dollars in credit this is still a great deal.

Im new to Amazon Credits and what-not, but i checked under a MP3 download page, and under Promotional Code/Gift Cards it said "SOFTWARE/VIDEO GAMES" 12.99. (Also said the same thing under Amazon Instant Video)

Does that mean i have 12.99$ worth of free credit? O_O. (It also says under Amazon MP3 15$, and under Kindle/Android 10$)

I recieved the Credit through customer service incase that matters (It wasnt added automatically after buying)

Meaning if you spend 3.99 on MP3s, 3.99 will also get deducted out of the total for software/Kindle/Android/Video On Demand. I think the only thing separate is gift card balance. I had an issue thinking all of them were separate as well. I suggested them reformatting it as it can be confusing that those credits all come out of the same amount.

Also, does Promo Credit work toward PSN Codes? (I saw in the FAQ on the first page that it needed confirmation)

It asks for Credit Card info first, unless it deducts afterward....
Anyone else still waiting for Amazon to ship their Portal 2 out!? I ordered it on the 19th...
With what shipping method? I got mine on the 20th.
FSSS....and it still hasn't shipped
Yes, that's very common with FSSS. Wasn't there a 99cent release-date delivery option?

Would that even work if ya bought it on release date heh....I honestly just want my $20 credit already, can care less how long it takes to get here

I want to get Gears 3. But there will likely be a limited edition that I may choose to get. If I preorder it now, rolling over my $20 credit, and then decide to get the limited edition when that gets announced, will I be able to get my $20 credit back and apply it to that?

It all depends on if your credit has expired. The email advising you of your credit will include an expiration date, so you need to keep track of that.

They seem to delay the ship date with FSSS for 2-5 days after release for some reason...but you can't loose with 99 cent release day shipping :)
i still did not get my promo credits from portal 2 and mortal kombat.should i email them or wait?
I never got my Portal 2 credit either and I emailed them twice about it. The first time they said I would get it the next day and if not I should contact them again. I had to contact them again - supposedly they put a $20 general use credit on my account but I haven't verified that yet.

I don't know why these sometimes just don't work. I've gotten credit automatically at times in the past, and also had to bug them to get them before.

ive had an extreme problem getting credit for portal 2
somehow when i did a live chat after 2 emails saying they added it but didn't and the live rep added the $20 but somehow it overwrote existing $25 credit...

did a chat by phone and now i have to wait for marketing/promo dept to contact me so frustrating first time amazon has been this incompetent for me

Reminded me to get the Portal 2 credit and they applied it in about 10 minutes. Seems to be working.

Anyone have any luck getting them to apply the credit to an existing order?

Does anyone know how the free figure for Lego: Pirates work? It says something about a credit towards a redemption of the figure.

I'm guessing it will be like the guitar hero 6 guitar strap offer they did. After the game ships you get a special credit specifically for that figure that they mention. You place a separate order for the figure and the credit gives it to you for free.

Thanks for the reply. How about the shipping?

That I can't really answer. I can guess and say the credit also covers shipping but don't know for sure. I have prime so it (the guitar strap) shipped free for me either way.

Wow....

I returned Portal 2 because I got in on the TRU deal. I used some promotional credit on the purchase. I was told the 20.00 Portal promo credit would just come off my refund. No biggie right?

Well, they won't refund promo credit. I used 30.00 on Portal 2. Really really really shitty, I had no idea. Yeah, I'm technically only out 10.00, but I'm pretty livid right now.

EDIT - Amazon comes through again! They're refunding me the 10.00. At first he was going to give me the 30.00, but I reminded him I had the 20.00 from Portal in my account. It was my honest good deed for the day :p
