Amazon DotD - All Pro Football 2K8 (Xbox 360) $39.99 Shipped

To OP: I saw the title and I said meh. Sure enough, I click and look, and you also say meh. I'm in for $10 less myself too.

I say "meh" because it's another god damned sports title. :p These kinds of games become absolutely useless within a few months.

although this game is based on hall of fame players where they really don't need to change the roster in a year

Thinking the same thing the roster will never be outdated so doesnt really loose its value if your into real life roster in other games. But I'm not biting until $29.99. Ill be playing Madden till January anyway so this game should be that price by then.
never got a chance to play this game is it any good?
Yes, but its very barebones.
Outside of building a team to play online, there isn't a whole lot to do offline.
Gameplay wise, I prefer it to Madden, though I see why some people will hate how APF plays as players feel heavy unless you're willing to put in time to get used to the game.

Madden is total crap this year. Even fan forums like Maddenmania are just completely and utterly loaded with comments like "worst madden ever" and "I'm done with Madden"

Some hilariously notable flaws:

Franchise mode, if teams are left to CPU control, will eventually be populated by generic teams, because the CPU uses the relocation feature but chooses terrible names, cities, and uniforms and kills the NFL realism. If the player controls all 32 teams and prevents this, then the franchise mode will freeze a few years in, because there will not be enough players to fill all the rosters

If you edit players, very often their age will automatically jump to 26, regardless of their previous age or the changes made

And then there are the innumerable flaws, glitches, imbalances, and rough edges.

Now, I own APF and only take the comments above from madden fans, and will readily admit that APF has its fair share of gameplay imbalances and issues, but from a "game-breaking flaw" standpoint, I believe it is clean. Its also the best playing game of football ever made.

Madden on the other hand...I've only played the game at E3 and the demo they released, but it is as unrealistic a game of football as I've ever played, and only recommend it if you're already addicted to the twitch, drop back 30 yards chuck 70 with Drew Brees gameplay.

The biggest weakness with APF is that there's no franchise mode, and little singleplayer offline replayability. But the online is great when you go up against a legitimate opponent, and you can easily weed out the crap by using their record and feedback in conjunction.

And it is very addictive when it comes to making your own teams, designing their unis, etc (although you can only have 8 saved total)

Its not worth more than 40 in my opinion, but its certainly worth more than Madden.

I absolutely love the way APF2K8 plays. Yeah, its not as deep feature wise as Madden, but thats the trade you make for something that actually plays well.

Target has this in their ad the week of September 16-22 for $29.99 Just a heads up for any of you guys that might be interested. I saw it over on DVDTalk

Thank you kind sir.

Not that I was going to jump on this amazon deal, but $30 is the "sweet spot" I've been waiting for.:applause:

My brother got this, and I got Madden...needless to say I traded back Madden. Not to say it was bad but it just wasn't as innovative and fun as All Pro. Besides I hate how EA bought the NFL rights just because they don't know how to make a good football game. They didn't have to ruin it for everyone else.
