Amazon DotD: Sharkoon X-Tatic SR Gaming Headset (PS3/360/PC) - $99.99

I dunno. I've heard iffy things about Sharkoon headsets, so I just bought the Turtle Beach X12 as my friend got them and they are pretty good, especially since Amazon lowered the price of it two days ago.

I just went with them because I've heard they have good Customer Service where Sharkoon isn't exactly accelerating towards greatness. Either way, if people want a headset, try Sharkoons. Just try the X12s too if you game on 360 or PC and want to save some money and don't care about surround sound (in which case the Turtle Beaches have their own expensive 7.1 Channel Dolby Surround Sound Processor to convert any headset into one).

But I'd like to see what people have to say, as I may sound like I'm coming off as biased, but am not. Its just late and I'm about to go to sleep, haha.

This is a great deal. I own the Sharkoon SX headset, and have powerful and clear sound, and very comfortable. I think I'm going to get the SR and upgrade my game play to Dolby digital sound.

Thanks for the link OP.
I've been wanting a headset for awhile now, but now I don't know what to get :bomb:
I"m with you! They are so expensive that I'd like some non-biased reviews before I buy one, but I feel like that's hard to get.

I tried these out and ended up getting the x41 from turtle beach but I paid 160. You can't go wrong for 99.00 though. I would give the x41 a 9 and the Sr an 8 out of 10.

I've used the Sharkoon X-Tatic SP Gaming Headset many times after I bought them for my dad as a present and they are awesome! Great sound, really comfortable and good quality. And personally, I think Sharkoon headsets are pretty much the best looking headsets out there. It's not that important but good looking equipment is always a plus to me. These seem like an upgrade to those and I would definitely jump on these if I wasn't getting Sony's new headset next week.

I've used the Sharkoon Xtatic Digital, and the sound quality is dope. True 5.1 is very good. It's nice to be able to adjust the rear volume up to hear footsteps from behind (and to turn down the subwoofer drivers so they don't drown out everything). My only problem is that after 2-3 hours, they get pretty heavy on my head and start to hurt the neck. Also, they squeeze my ears very tightly. The padding isn't sufficient, so the drivers press right up against my ears, which causes pain.

The build quality is very nice as well. However, I have no experience with the cans that are currently on sale. I looked at a video of them, and the design seems a lot different from the xtatic sp. But $100 is not a bad price at all.

That's why I got the X-Tatic SR, over the X-Tatic Digital. The SR is much lighter and earcups are more adjustable then the X-Tatic Digital and it still supports Dolby® Digital 5.1, Dolby® Pro Logic® II sound.

It's a WIN WIN for me.

Thanks TraBuch, Crazy mad price for the X-Tatic SR. Can't go wrong with Sharkoon and Dolby Digital sound.
Usually ships in 2-4 weeks now...

If I order Amazon won't charge me til it ships, right?
Yes.

But Amazon usually ships shit whenever they want regardless of what the website says. It can ship four days from now or five weeks.

Does anyone know how many speakers in each side? Is this a true surround sound like X-Tatic True 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound Gaming Headset?

I went with X12s because of this article from a zillion years ago that found Stereo to be controversially not that different from Surround headphones. I will test out the x12s with Battlefield and see if I notice a difference vs my x41s. I'm replacing the x41s because the speechmike aspect went dead after 18 months. I'm also going to use the x12s to see if the dead speech mike is the x41s or something else. I've tried the voice message test and multiple talkbalk cables.

Anyway, a good set of headphones (stereo or surround) is great for online gaming, I've really enjoyed being able to hear footsteps and localize them somewhat while playing.

I tried the X12s and the X41s one after another with BFBC2. First off, I still couldn't use voice chat. Seems like it's a NAT or other IT issue rather than the headphones.

Second, the difference in the ambient sound between the two headphones was noticeable. I would strongly encourage trying to get surround headphones instead of simple stereo if you want to max out your enjoyment of gaming sound. I wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't for Battlefield. There is a tendency to hide and wait during game play, and when you hear footsteps coming around, you can localize them. I lost that sense with the simple stereo headphones. It could be that the X12s are just not that good of phones, and that a nice set of stereo cans would have done the trick. That being said, I hope to get voice chat working again and stick with my surround X41s for the duration.
