Amazon Gold Box - Robocop [Blu-ray] $15.99

love this movie but have read the PQ isn't all that great so my Criterion is fine for now until they can clean it up for another release, if at all possible.

Amazon must hate us. This movie has been in more BOGOs than I can count and is a major disappointment for fans of the movie. Hi-def Digest ranks the PQ really low and says it's not an improvement over the SD. I am very underwhelmed about this week's Lightning Deals overall (wtf is the deal with the grills and lawnchairs, etc?) and hope that Thursday and Friday bring something worth getting excited about.

I got this during one of the BOGO sales, and I have to agree with most of the reviews, the picture quality just isn't up to par with most any other Blu-Rays on the market (plus it's an MPEG-2 encode). Some parts of the movie look pretty good and offer a bit more detail than the SD DVD, but overall even at 15.99 it's not really worth it if you ask me. I'm sure a double dip is only a year or two off.

keep the Criterion for the extras. Robocop doesn't look bad. And I really don't think it can look any better. The sound is pretty damn good considering the age. Very lively soundtrack. Plus the music sounds frakkin cool.

I picked this up last year for $12 @ Fry's. This has to be the worst DOTD ever. This whole hi-def week has been weak.

It offered to pack it with the Terminator for only $25.94. So they both come out to $12.47, nabbed'em both.
