Amazon HD DVD BOGO!

If I were you I wouldn't go with The Perfect Storm. I thought it was an average movie and the HD DVD transfer wasn't as good as I would have liked it to be.

It's hard to recommend anything because it sounds like you already have a lot but I'll put a few down:

According to AVSforums tier list, The Game is "marginally better than SD DVD". Hidefdigest suggest skipping it because of the inferior quality, and there aren't even any extras. I would just go for it on DVD or wait for a better HD-DVD.

More OT, I am sorta mad that they removed so many titles and only put a few titles in their place, and those few aren't even that great. The BD sale was much, much better, especially in the last day when Sony added tons. Oh well, guess I'll get to keep my money.

Awesome, put the order for Searchers / Dog Day Afternoon in anyways and Amazon manually adjusted the price less than 30 minutes after I emailed them.
 
What the hell. I saw that they had the non-combo The Departed and I went to buy it today and it's gone. Not out of stock but taken off the deal. Now you can just buy the combo discs which are five dollars more. Screw that.
 
For those looking for specific titles that are now missing, all I can say is "manually search for them & try them in your cart".

I was looking for Backdraft earlier today and it was no longer showing on any of the 3 pages. I found it, put it in my cart & added one from the pages (Superman II: Donner Cut). Went to checkout & it was showing the $17.95 discount for Backdraft.

Might still work for other missing titles?

I just tried that and it still showed up as $47.87. I also tried adding Backdraft to see if it would count it and it still did.
 
I really hope Fear and Loathing gets added to the list at some point as I've been meaning to buy that anyway.

Getting the combo at BOGO (essentially half off) is still a lot cheaper than buying the non-combo at regular price.
 
I want the blu-ray deal already !!! Hopefully the hd-dvd deal gets taken down tomorrow, so I can get some blu-ray movies .

well....they took some movies away including Constantine, the searchers, rio bravo...i had sent them an email asking why the discount wasnt working with constantine but i havent heard from them yet
 
While I appreciate HD-DVD jumping on the BOGO bandwagon, there just wasn't anything in there exclusive on the format that I wanted that I didn't already have. All the format neutral discs could be picked up for a few bucks cheaper during the seemingly bi-weekly blu-ray BOGOs.

So good news for you HD-DVD only people, but I'll be a cheapass and save $3-7 and get the BD versions in a week or two at the next BOGO sale. If Universal or Paramount put up stuff I didn't already have I'd be jumping all over it though...

You just seriously offended some fragile minds there. On this forum, you can have a store that's got great deals on both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, and a thread-starter will say it's HD-DVD only and ignore the Blu-Ray in total Bill Lumbergh fashion. :D

I wanted to get Constantine and Happy Feet, though I couldn't yesterday, as the discount wouldn't come off for Constantine. I checked today, thinking they'd fix the issue, and both Constantine and Happy Feet were gone. :wall:

I shot Amazon an email about this, I'm curious to find out what they would do for it.
 
all nice choices.. there really is some good movies in there for new adopters who dont have as many movies yet..

daparted and tmnt are easy recommendations.

i wish their were non combos of waist deep and atl.

I placed the order this morning and just got the email that they're going to credit me back the $19.95, and when I check the order, it shows a credit of $19.95 being listed on the order.

Wow, shipping was ludicrously fast on this one. I placed my order around 3pm on the 11th, and they arrived on the 14th, even using free shipping! It shipped on the 12th, and was listed as scheduled to arrive on the 17th. I have an order for some games and stuff from the 5th that shipped on the 11th that's still not here. (Also free saver shipping.)

Only opened one of my four so far (Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang), and it is disappointing that they seem to just be using up the leftover combo discs to fill the new "non-combo" boxes. I would've liked disc art, but cheap is cheap. Strangely, the case itself is one of the old style ones with rounded top edge and little circle feet on the bottom. Maybe they're doing something retarded and just switching out the paper sleeve?

I ordered on Day 1 and Day 2 of the sale and neither orders have even shipped yet. :whistle2:/
 
I didn't do the order last night and then today posideon is off the list to go with 7 other movies.

so I brought lethal weapon with perfect storm as the free one and also brought posedion.
 
I missed out on Polar Express (blind buy for the family) and was kicking myself for it. CC is going to have it as part of the 3 for $25 deal on Standard DVD so I might pick it up there along with 2 other titles that I want. BOGOF on HD would have been much better though!
