F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription
Sega is publishing, though. So will it end up in a bundle anytime soon?

Off the top of my head I can't think of any other examples of Sega published indies finding their way into bundles.

Of course I also can't come up with many examples of Sega published indies.
Yeah, it's not gonna happen. The only chance it has of being indie bundled, is being an inclusion in a Humble Bundle. I haven't seen any Sega games in Humble Bundles, so I'm guessing that has an extremely low chance of happening. This price is quite low already, I feel like the only way we'll see it discounted further is if you stack coupon/vouchers onto a discounted sales price (such as 75% off at GMG or something) or it may be included in some other amazing Amazon bundles at even lower prices (in this case.. it's already in a current Amazon bundle lol).

Humble Sega Bundle: "We aren't going out of business but... eh... why not!"

And actually the Mexican food truck is a key lesson here. Some of us like our games like we like our food from a Mexican food truck: a la carte!

I don't think Tony gives us bundles because of a high demand for games bundled together. It's just the only way he can get publishers to agree to prices that low.

EDIT: But I agree, there are definitely games I would love individually with a lesser discount. I'd pay $2.50 for that fifth Genesis pack on its own, for example.
Let me know if you ever want to grab a burrito!

Cheers,
Tony
I might take you up on that! There's some round flat bread stuffed with chicken that's incredible that I just gotta buy again. I'm also jealous of your cafeteria!

By the way, thanks for discount on the Sonic Generations DLC. I thought the Casino DLC wasn't available for PC so that was a cool surprise for a very good game. I'm not the biggest Sonic fan but this game was like a "best of" all the Sonic game mechanics. Seriously, you guys should check it out. I'm glad I did.

Fun fact about the Mexican food truck at the Amazon campus:

When it pulls up everyday around 10:30, it announces its presence by blasting its car horn... which is the first line of the song 'Dixie.'

Not sure why a Mexican food truck plays that. (No, the truck is not painted like the General Lee.)

I would have put money on the song being "La Cucaracha". Clearly I don't know beans about PNW culture.

That's unusual... ly awesome! My office area has food trucks but little else. Where Ya At Matt is great but I don't always want a Muffaletta and Mexican Coke (I lie; I always want that).

Back to games, it would be awesome if Amazon could work out a deal for pre-orders or game/OST bundles that included soundtracks, etc. It would work perfectly with their music cloud service, which I use on my Android.

The extras from some Steam games are buried in the file structure sometimes. Amazon could one-up them :)

It doesn't look like Hell Yeah is getting a match, perhaps because it is currently in a bundle? Anyhow, I'll take "no news as bad news" and pick it up on Steam. Inexplicably one of the two DLC is on sale at Amazon. I guess I'll buy that from you instead, Tony.

A lot of stuff didn't get matched, maybe they're still processing? I'm waiting for Hell Yeah, the rest of the DLC, and the Dungeons and Daemons DLC to be matched for Magicka.
I'm guessing that's the Mean Girls game, judging by the color palettes of the screenshot and your avatar.
It's actually a very respectable PuzzleQuest clone that follows the Mean Girls storyline well enough. Definitely worth the $5 I spent on the 14 pack it came in.

Also, the reviews on that page are hilarious.

I can't believe a fuchsia-colored game just somehow made it to the top of my weekend play-list. Above X-Com, Amalur, and Sleeping Dogs.

Hell Yeah is part of the "Big Picture Sale" which runs till 10 Dec, so there isn't a the "gotta snag it now" urgency of the dailies.

@elessar123 I can strongly recommend Sleeping Dogs. I'd guess it's got around 20 hours of gameplay (my steam timer is messed up to to inordinate amounts of pause-afk).

I hope no one bought the Dreamcast pack just for Sonic Adventure DX. The game is a mess. Apparently the Steam version just screws the users over as far as setting it up.

The config menu doesn't work unless you create an entry for it in your registry, and even then, I created it, it was working, and now it's not again. It's also pretty much impossible to change your resolution anything above 1280x720 or something. I've been trying, trust me. Even then, you can only change that resolution in the config... which seems to only work sometimes.

Someone posted that SADXTweaker program before, but it sounds like it doesn't work on the Steam version of the game, only the original PC version. I followed clear instructions on how to use it to change your resolution, and the second I try changing a setting, I just get "Unhandled exception" errors.

There's also no widescreen support. If you want fullscreen, you need to find the config file in Documents/SEGA/Sonic Adventure DX and change the fullscreen value to 1. Do the same with the config file in the game folder as well.

All in all, just a mess. Apparently the Steam version even removed certain species of Chaos. The epitome of a horrible port.

I might be one of the 5 people who already played and beat Hell Yeah! on PC, but IMO it's better than a 66. It's plenty goofy, the platforming is good with very tight controls, and it's surprising that 100 "boss" fights never feels tedious.

Where'd you read that?

So uh.. looks like amazon slipped up a bit. They're distributing older keys for the first pack in the genesis bundle. It comes with Sonic 3D blast (along with the other 10 games stated on product page). No idea if this was mentioned previously.. just putting it out there cuz the Sonic games were supposed to be stripped from the bundle.

For real? Did it come with any of the other Sonic games & Toejam & Earl?
Nope, just Sonic 3D blast.
Man, this thread is really starting to glitch. You just quoted me before I posted.

Anyway, thanks Sunghost.

LOL yeah I noticed that too. My post time travelled!

wanna ask about the sonic bundle

the total individual price is $92.90, but the discount price is based on $123.84. something wrong, or is it intended?

Amazon price matched a few games that are on sale on steam. So at the moment, if you were to buy them now outside of the bundle, it would cost you $92.90. Before the price match, it would have cost you $123.84.
Is that lego bundle on sale? I haven't been keeping up. The $13 one with Lego harry potter & Batman.
Few weeks late bud. Maybe it will be again round Xmas time.

I have to check that Mean Girls game out. I grabbed that bundle a while back mainly for the Doctor Who's since they weren't on Steam. Then they go and release Doctor Who episode 6 on Steam but not on Amazon.

Wait, didn't you originally buy the non-Steam version then complained when the Steam version came out, got a refund and got the Steam version? Now you are complaining about that?

Anyway, I'll grab it in the next couple of days (when I have enough Bing rewards points for a $5 Amazon e-GC) and will have to fiddle with it. So far I've always managed to find ways around any issues with older games on Steam.

If all else fails I can live with 1280x720, which by the way is 16:9 (aka widescreen) the same aspect ratio as 1920x1080. Hell there's some adventure games I play in 640x480. It's somewhat to be expected with some older games. You can always do a stretch to fit full screen option in your video card settings.

I never go by Metacritic scores anyway, they only count "professional" gaming site scores which as far as I am concerned are notoriously biased and unreliable. They also never go back and change their scores when things are addressed in an update or patch etc.

Playable demo is probably the best way to tell and barring that I try and check places with a lot of user talk to get the general feel like Amazon reviews (when they aren't bitching about Steam or the game not being able to start on their system or download etc etc) and maybe the Steam forums or what not.
Damn. So by PC version, are they talking also the DRM free versions like on Gamersgate?
http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-SADX/sonic-adventure-dx
The odd thing is that Gamersgate shows the collection, which includes Sonic DX as having StarForce, but the actual Sonic DX by itself as DRM free. I thought I read somewhere that Sega removed the DRM at one point but I can't find the reference where I saw that now.

The Eternity Clock isn't technically Episode 6, although from what I've seen the gameplay is very similar. Because this was actually created for a multiplatform release and was always intended as a commercial product, it's not really part of the Adventure Games series (which were originally released as value-added content for the show on the Beeb's website and available free to download for UK users).

The hamsters are having a tough couple of days...I brought them out on the town on Friday and a few of them must still be recovering.

Seriously though, the matches are in place, I'm going to bug someone about why they aren't displaying right now.

Cheers,
Tony

Glad to hear the matches are coming Tony. We create much work for your hamsters so I'm sure they deserved their night out on the town.

Hell Yeah is now showing up at the pricematched price, still waiting for the Pimp My Rabbit DLC to show up correctly though, and the Magicka DLC is full price.
