F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.
Also, anyone that wants that THQ pack but already has Space Marine, I would pay $4 for Space Marine.
PM'ed.
There is a free to play version on steam, test the game with that.

PS
No idea what added bonus does the paid for version has.
Where is this free to play version? o.0

I only see the paid one...

I don't think there is one. I have 100 hours into Payday and never heard of it being F2P; maybe he got it confused with the "Free Weekend" deal they had a few months back.

Yeah I didn't think so either. Is $3.75 the lowest Payday has gone? I couldn't find any history for it on steamgamesales

Payday the Heist was the lowest as a 4 pack. That's when I picked it up for $3.75. Game looks really good, but i've only put about 20 minutes into it so I can't say too much.

seriously
is there some way that i can tell if these games activate on steam?
i know some of them say they do
but then others dont have anything listed and its a mystery
i think its funny that people think its a good thing for it to not be on steam when I just bought a game that doesn't even have a cd key
like what did i even pay money for?
Currently set for $19.99

MMM delicious victory cookies. I'm starting to get punchy.

Cheers,
Tony
Cool. didnt see that in the op.

Those "keyless games" are most likely DRM-FREE. [download the game from Amazon]

Usually if it requires STEAM, it either says at the top of the product page, or it will state STEAM within the product "System Requirements" [usually 1/2 way down the page]

You paid for a DRM-FREE key, if there's NO KEY period normally.
You won't have to worry about ANY SORT of limited activations, revoking activations, online DRM checks, reactivations if hardware changes, DRM software black-lists, or any sort of DRM nonsense period.

Also, it can be MUCH easier to mod DRM-FREE games - i.e. some games that might need their .EXE file messed with by modders for it to actually work at all or even correctly (think Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, for example).
This can be especially true on modern systems and/or to get around OS-specific DRM (like older versions of StarForce or Tages) that force OS-specific drivers to be installed.

Steam-versions of games can be a pain to mod-up - especially if a game isn't open-source; and especially if the .EXE needs to be "fixed" to boot the game.
Always back-up a clean version of any Steam-version game somewhere, before modding-up.

THIS!!!
I think Hotline Miami from Amazon DVG is one of the few that flat-out require Steam, yet it wasn't listed that it did.
I am interested in The Secret World. I hope I get my money on friday time for this.
Friday??!?!
Today (12/16) is the last day for this $15 TSW deal!

That is, unless Tony extends the deal or brings it back at a later date...

Bought the Secret World. Completed the first 15gb install last night, but I went to bed before playing and heard there is another 8-9gb update so I probably wont get to play much today either.

Bummer. but on the bright side the Patriots will proclaim dominance over 49ers tonight like the did with the Texans on Monday.

@TONY

I don't wanna go through 14 cumbersome pages of deals that aren't sorted so well! It looks messy!

Your page needs some sorting/filtering options by Title; Price; Different Views (Compact List View, Normal List View, Grid View); etc...
...Like say Gamersgate does.

EDIT:
I see Drakensang: The River of Time is $5.
What's the DRM on that?
And do you guys carry that game's Philleason's Secret DLC?
So, any opinions on the Sims 3 expansions?
I have Sims 3 (base game) + Generations + Late Night + Showtime.
Don't have any of the others.

Oh f*** !!! I apologize for the confusion, no idea why I read Gotham City Impostors!!!!

To buy Endless Space or to not buy Endless Space. That is the tempting question put forward by Amazon.

Anyone got a quick opinion on the game?
If you want the opinion of someone who dislikes but can see the fun in the game, here ya go.

Overall I find it really a slow paced but enjoyable game however I simply suck too much to defend more then 3-4 systems at once. Combat is beautiful but feels like a complete roll of the dice because it is and the larger fleet almost always wins unless there's a huge tech advantage.

In summary, I don't think you can exactly go wrong with the game. It does what it does very very well however not 'everyone' will be able to enjoy it. There are also a few fairly major annoying technical issues such as a bug where you are unable to order some fleets to move at times and I did run into about two complete game crashes. The crashes were simply a load time annoyance however as it does autosave.

I'd say it's a great game if you want a laptop game or something to play while you're burning time.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.

Anyone know if buying the Alice complete pack will "upgrade" my existing Madness Returns (mainly worried about my saves) or create a completely separate game?

You can play Sims in real life. Just go feed your dog, make dinner, buy a zebra striped sofa, quit your job as an astronaut, and become a rockstar.

I've just been remaining in one spot, yelling incoherently and standing in a spreading puddle of my own urine. But your way probably works, too.
You have no idea how badly I wish The Sims 3 expansions were Steam redeemable.
EA titles NEVER normally activate up on Steam.
EA's been trying to push Origin/EADM onto us for years.

If you want a Steam version of an EA title, you'd have to buy it through Steam...if EA is actually selling it there.
There is a chance, though - if you buy a {somewhat recent} EA title over Steam, that key might activate-up on Origin.
I have DAO Ultimate and Burnout Paradise from Steam - and those keys activated up on Origin.

Yikes! $15 for Alice Complete?!?! I know nostalgia and all for the original title but we're talking about a game selling for $5 in June combined with a game from 2000.

EA may want to rethink their pricing on this one if they're looking for volume...

I think EA should just also sell the original Alice (2000) by itself...

I already own Madness Returns; I need the original.

I know that, sadly. I have the original Sims 3 on Steam and the completionist on me wants to obtain all of the expansions on the same platform. Ah well, I'm sure they'll be on sale during the Steam winter sale anyway.
Any chance for a return of that $15 Dark Souls: PTD deal sometime this month or next month? ;)
Yes, this month.

If you are "okay" w/ actually using Origin and having it on your PC...
Did you ever try activating all of your Sims 3 titles' Steam-keys on Sims3.com and/or EA Origin?
Not sure if that'd work - but, hey...never know. {shrug}

Ah well, I'm sure they'll be on sale during the Steam winter sale anyway.
Yeah, probably/possibly.

I actually just did this and I found some retail copies that I had no idea would actually register on Origin. So now I have more Sims 3 titles on Origin than I do on Steam. I've opened up a whole new can of worms here.

Thanks for your help though.
