F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.
Speaking of Microsoft games, I know it's not Steam but I am still bummed I missed that Viva Pinata deal for 99 cents in December of 2010. :whistle2:(

Amazon has boxed retail for ~ $5 from some of the sellers though so I may just end up getting that at some point. At least I can pay with points for that.

Yes I like my cutesy games thank you very much.
One day you'll be able to use those points on digital products...one day (I hope).

Cheers,
Tony

Glad to hear that. Mine usually only last a week, but it would be nice to have the ability to spend them on digital goods when I do have some.
Ah gotcha, yeah I was literally writing up a post to get those deals up here as well when I got Ninja'ed :).

Speaking of Ninjas, we just got these games from MSFT:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AR05D78
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AR03O8I
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AR05D5A

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AR05D6O
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AR03O9M
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AR03OX8

Working on putting together a promotion on them now, no idea what it will look like yet though.

Cheers,
Tony
Mark of the Ninja for $10.00 that can be used with the $5.00 credit ;)!!

You know, Motoki jokes but I seriously looked all over Amazon for Viva Pinata.... like 3 days ago. I was jonesin' for some light-hearted gameplay but it was only hard copy :whistle2:(

Edit: For the record I spent HOURS and HOURS on the original Xbox one... I was actually looking for the sequel (Trouble in Paradise or whatever). Another one of those games I wish they'd make a sequel for.... but since Viva Pinata isn't even on TV anymore, the kiddies wouldn't understand.

Only 5 coupon left and now i see 3 new games i want (fable 3, Iron Brigade and Deadlight)

One question: I can't buy Fable 3 through steam, region locked, but i can buy it from game stop and now amazon i hope. Now my question is, if i buy the game on amazon, i will be able to activated on steam?

I might be wrong, but Tony doesn't typically address questions that circumvent regional pricing/activations/etc.

And there is no guarantee any of these games are even making it on the EC list, he was just announcing that they are going to be in a new promotion.

Great to see Mark of the Ninja and ITSP get added to the store, Tony. Steam's more impressive selection of Indie titles is one of the few things (if not the only thing) that keeps me spending money at their store these days. If Amazon can continue to expand their offerings, I won't have much of a reason to shop anywhere else.

Hey-O!

Me too dude, we're working on running down as much indie content as possible, if you know any indie devs...send them my way!

Also, to note again, I'm working on deals for the Microsoft stuff linked to above but we haven't finalized anything. My hope is to do a bundle of the Fable stuff and another of the Indie stuff and add BOTH to the EC list.

We'll see where we end up :).

Cheers,
Tony

So glad Microsoft is on ADVG. I'm looking forward to any bundle of these games.

Now I just want to see a stronger presence from Capcom with DMC and Resident Evil 6 on the way.
just need fable 3 but it looks like that's being bundled, oh well.
Just a heads up if you haven't bought an Amazon bundle before, they come with separate keys. I can almost guarantee that you could split the pack with someone or sell/trade off Fable TLC out of the bundle.

AoE 3
Iron Brigade
Toy Soldiers

I'm sorry if this was responded to before and I missed it, but:

Tony,
is there any way we can get a deal/ editor's choice for The Testament of Sherlock Holmes?

and how about some type of square enix pack that includes dungeon siege 3 and the kane and lynch games?

as a matter of fact,
if a fable bundle shows up i will be looking for Fable TLC (I hated Fable 3)
Can you get Microsoft to give you Halo 2 PC for sale?
For some reason - I don't have this on the PC, oddly enough.

On other notes:
While I don't expect THESE kind of miracles...
...It'd be nice if we could get MS to port these to the PC:
Fable 2;
Halo 3; Halo ODST; Halo Reach; Halo 4;
and Gears of War 2, 3, and Judgment.
Halo 2 PC DD looks like a possibility. I mean they have the physical copy for sale, and now they got some MS arcade titles up for download so the connection is there. As for the Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, GoW2, GoW3, GoW:Judgement, yeah...that ain't happening anytime soon. We're lucky we even have Halo CE, Halo 2, and GoW1 on PC. I guess we can hope that once the next Xbox comes out they'll start porting over the 360 titles to PC since they won't need them as exclusives to sell the console.
Just picked up Dark Souls for $6

Not sure which promotions I had earned, but it was for $5+$5+$4

Thanks Amazon!
That's... odd.

I actually do want Viva Pinata PC. For Serious.

I will buy it it's just that my prime ran out and I didn't renew so I need to wait around until I can figure out another $20 worth of stuff to buy.

I understand the part of circumvent regional price and all of that, but i can buy on amazon using my real address, no need to fake address, the situation is on steam, and used to be the same with EA store before Origin, i use dollar and they gave me price on £.

And i know is just a announcement that the games are available on amazon now, I'm just making a request like everyone else.

I would love to see Mark of the ninja hit 7.50 after coupon, been wanting that one.

Just started watching breaking bad this weekend. Next to the last episode of season one was one of those, "yes! This show is bad ass!" moments.

Sweet, I actually wanted to ask if you were going to start carrying Microsoft games. Looking forward to that indie game pack, been looking for Mark of the Ninja, Iron Brigade, and Toy Soldiers for a good deal.
I know they're not an Indie studio, but I know many of us would love to see Bethesda Studio content added to Amazon PCDD.
Yup, this would be amazing. If Amazon kept on doing what they are doing, the only thing I would buy off of Steam are Valve games.

If anyone's curious, Deadlight is kind of like an adult Limbo with zombies. The game is kind of short, and the story isn't that fleshed out, but it was entertaining enough for me to play through despite my huge backlog. Would definitely recommend a controller, though.
Tony - any chance of a Mafia pack? "Family Matters Pack"
Wait - is Steve Urkel in the pack, too? :p
Wait...wrong Family Matters!

Another great move from amazon.
I was thinking about buying Fable 3, Deadlight and Iron Brigade from steam. Gonna wait till February to see the deals.

Thank you Tony.

LOL I think you're thinking of the Uzi's & Urkel's Bundle.
Yup, this would be amazing.
I'd love to see BethSoft on Amazon DVG.

If Amazon kept on doing what they are doing, the only thing I would buy off of Steam are Valve games.
I don't know about that much, since some games on Steam just ain't on Amazon DVG.

Examples of games on Steam that are NOT on Amazon DVG:
Ridge Racer Unbounded (published by Namco Bandai)
EYE Divine Cybermancy (published and developed by Streum On Studio)
Krater (published & developed by FatShark)
Hey Tony I've asked a few times and I know you're busy but it would be cool to know if this is going to be (or if you're trying to make this) an EC promo:

http://www.amazon.com/Dead-Space-Du...357695440&sr=8-3&keywords=dead+space+download

Also it's a bit silly for the price to say:

Total Individual Price: $30.23
Bundle Price: $39.98

Maybe the devs could make it so the bundle price never exceeds the total individual prices?
Tim? Is this you?

Also, I don't think that we'll be running this deal in January, but I will suggest it again.

Also, my co-worker and I have the "bundles should always be lower than the individual price" conversation...alot, hence the Tim reference :).

Cheers,
Tony

I think the point of that is - Amazon wants YOU to buy the darn bundle. :p

That's like PC bundle-naming suicide!

Hah, thanks for the reply. I figured it would make sense since Dead Space 3 is coming out early February. Now I know that I can use my credit on other things at least.
Tony - any chance of a Mafia pack? "Family Matters Pack"
It would be nice.

I was looking forward buying Mafia II and DLCs, a really good deal on the holidays never happened anywhere. So disappointing.

Although I was able to get a giftable copy of Mafia 1 through trading, a rarity :)

Hmm, well for me anyway. I'm not really interested in those games and there aren't really many that Steam has that Amazon doesn't that I personally would be interested in, other than all the indie games which I just get from HBs and Valve games in general.
