Pre-Order Borderlands 2 from us for 10% off and help me get a tattoo! Yes it activates on Steam!

I am a huge Borderlands 2 fan and I want this to be our best selling pre-order ever. So I've drawn a line in the sand. If, from now until launch, we take 40,000 more preorders than where we were on 7/2/2012 I will get a Borderlands tattoo on my back.
Hi Tony,

In regards with Warlock Master of the Arcane - will we be able to activate this on Steam if bought from Amazon?. Or will it have a different drm?

N
Yep it will activate on Steam :).
Cheers,
Tony

On the Steam client menu select 'Games' (top bar area) and then 'Activate a Product on Steam.' You'll be prompted to enter the key.

On the Steam vs Amazon sales I think it's just different strategies between the two. While I like the big Steam sales where like 99% of the store is on sale they are very infrequent and it also makes it difficult to choose what to get sometimes since it's all or nothing until the next sale.

It's kind of nice to have sales spread out over smaller but more frequent sales so that you can buy a bit at a time and not have to empty your wallet all at once.

Tony,

Not sure if this has been brought up before but any chance you will be getting Torchlight, Skyrim or Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion anytime soon. I prefer buying from Amazon over Steam if I am paying retail price, so if you have any news I would rather hold off and wait for your version to hit the market.

Thanks for all the hard work you put in here,

Semper Fi :D

p.s. I know the answer is still a no, but will always be holding out hope for a Blood Bowl Legendary Edition sale. Focus Home Interactive needs to give in to my being stingy on a certain price point for that game
Well, now I'm not so sure that DD deal will be a good seller since it's in the new Indie Royale bundle~
Yeah, I'm sure sales will be affected.. but I'd bet people will still buy the 2 pack to gift to friends (it's really the type of game you'd play with friends anyway) considering it's technically cheaper and they get 2 copies.

I feel like something in the universe wants me to get Darksiders on PC, even though i went through 100% of the game on PS3. That and its been on sale almost every other week.

Also i could of sworn i saw something in this thread about the elder scrolls series being on sale soon through amazon.

I think Tony mentioned earlier he was working with Bethesda to try to carry their games, but I don't think that will be in the immediate future and I don't think they will go on sale right away either.
Grabbed Darksiders. :D

Any idea on next week's sales yet? I may have missed it if you already said what they were.
Next weeks sales are going to be oh so fine. Double fine, you might say. With Psychonauts being 1.99 for one day and a Double Fine complete pack. Also, last week's weekly vote winner should be going live tonight or tomorrow.

Wait, is double fine next week? Or is it something else? Maybe it's the dungeon defenders sale?

Man, I feel bad for ya Tony. A day or so after you announce the Dungeon Defenders deal, it not only shows up in an indie bundle, but is also free for IGN Prime members. Worst timing ever, hah

I think its all part of the May event?
Tony, do you think Deus Ex The Missing Link DLC will be part of a sale anytime soon? Thanks.
We don't have this slated yet, but I'll try to get it set up.

We're working on getting the Bethesda stuff but I don't have a timeline yet.

As for Bloodbowl Legendary, it will bet $9.99 (75% off) during the May event.

Nope the May event doesn't start next week, and I've posted next week's deals in the OP:

Next Week's Deal of the Week - 5/6-5/12:

Psychonauts - $1.99 (Sunday only) - $3.99 (Monday - Saturday)
Costume Quest - $2.99
Stacking - $7.49
"Oh So Fine" Bundle (all 3 games) - $9.99

I was totally bummed when I saw all that :(.

Cheers,
Tony

P.S. I've got a couple of guys from this forum that I keep semi-regularly updated with early notice on deals because they have established threads or posting history in other forums/comment boards across the internet.

I'm not by any means soliciting this from you guys so NO pressure to feel like you need to, but if you're interested in getting insight into the deals a couple of hours/days early send me a PM and we can connect via email.

I don't always remember to update my full list but when I do it is usually between 4-48 hours early.
Do all of the Double Fine Games there REQUIRE Steam?
Good call out, i'll note this on the OP yes, they are all Steam required. We're actually just distributing codes for them and not a download.

Cheers,
Tony

The page for Stacking has the info for Costume Quest. Good thing the review gives a good synopsis of what the game is about. I have psychonauts, but will consider the oh so fine pack. Costume Quest sounds very interesting.

Psychonauts from Retail didn't have a serial key or anything [when Majesco published].
Plus, it's also on GOG as DRM-FREE.

This is why I was curious if ALL the Double Fine Games you guys here at Amazon DVG were selling are requiring Steam, since the other 2 [Stacking and Costume Quest] I do believe require Steam.

I didn't know that about Psychonauts. The only version we were offered by the publisher was a Steam one so that's what we went with.

Cheers,
Tony

I already own Psychonauts on (5) discs from Retail, so not really looking to buy it again.
Not too curious about Stacking.

I am VERY curious though about Costume Quest...
It's too bad there's no Demo on Steam for CQ.
We don't have this slated yet, but I'll try to get it set up.

thank you sir,I'd appreciate it :)

Costume Quest is a very charming game, and pretty good for what it is. Keep in mind it offers zero challenge though. There might be a demo on 360/PS3 if you haven't checked already.
Psychonauts for $1.99 seems like a steal; never played it before, so maybe I'll pick it up. :)
Ditto, I've heard good things about it.

In for the Double Fine bundle when it comes out. Loved Psychonauts and have faith the other two games will be fun and charming. They definitely look unique.

I really wish people would stop voting for games that were recently on sale. It's annoying. I just bought Darksiders from Amazon on April 7th for $4.99. Sigh.

Tony, I know you said you had a deal in the works, but I'm just wondering. Any word on when and what kind of discount we can expect for Alan Wake (Collectors Edition or whatever it is called mainly)? Thanks :D

Just logged in to say that it's one of the absolute best games I've ever played (and I don't say things like this lightly). It's got it all!

Thanks for sealing the deal for me then, lol.

Is there somewhere to see the votes for last weeks Weekend contest? Or at least what won... I was interested in one of the books but forgot the name and don't see anywhere to find the results. =(

Dangit, there's a DRM free version out there, now I'm second guessing getting this Steam one :(

Happy anti-DRM day everyone... I guess...

You should all play Costume Quest if you haven't already. I bought it the day it came out on XBLA and played straight through (~7 hours), because it's so damn enjoyable, if not terribly challenging.

How about a day against BAD DRM? If done right, it should not inconvenience the user and offer value added features. Personally, I am against DRM free. I don't want it. I have a lot of games and it's a hassle to have this one from that place and that one from the other place and oh wait, where did I get that other one from again? I need them organized for me and in as few places as possible.

Also I want the games updated without having to run all over creation and make sure I got the right version of a patch for me for hundreds of games. Uh, no thanks.

Maybe if I bought way less games this wouldn't be an issue but it is what it is.
Hm, will I be able to move Psychonauts over and play it on a computer without internet connection?
If this version is only a Steam key and no alternate direct download then you should be able to yes, but with the caveat that you will need Steam installed on each computer you want to run the game on. When you install Steam you will need to be connected to the internet at least once to log in and then set it to offline mode. It doesn't need to be some amazingly fast connection, a phone tether or something like that will do, but it does need to connect.

You can either download Pyschonauts again on the other system or I think you can try copying the directory over from the original computer (For Win7 should be in C:\Program Files (X86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Psychonauts I believe) and then (if necessary) go into Steam on the new computer and verify cache for the game.

There's also an option in Steam to "backup and restore games" where you can backup all currently installed games. If you just have a few this is a good option but if you've gotten tons installed this way could take some time.

So there are a little bit of hoops to jump through, and yes I realize that is contrary to what I said above about good DRM being convenient, but I think for people who have regular access to the net it's not something they normall have to worry about ever. I can say that I moved recently and was without internet access for a while but was able to play all my Steam games fine in offline mode. I can also see the point though for people who might not necessarily always have net access and not want to be bothered with worrying about it.

Hi. Asked this on various other sites, and got lots of "probably be fines"... Nothing that I would class as definite. So...

Alan Wake Collectors Edition:

Is it a region free key? Any reason why if I bought it on Amazon.com, it wouldn't work in the UK? I'm buying it as a gift, so don't want there to be any problems at all with it.

DRM or not if you have never played psychonauts consider yourself in the league of the very unfortunate. Where else can you go for summer camp to learn and master psychic powers, use mental kung fu, set things on fire with your mind, watch tv and all this in hope to become the greatest psychic ever.

Also there is a summer camp.
