Pre-Order Borderlands 2 from us for 10% off and help me get a tattoo! Yes it activates on Steam!

I am a huge Borderlands 2 fan and I want this to be our best selling pre-order ever. So I've drawn a line in the sand. If, from now until launch, we take 40,000 more preorders than where we were on 7/2/2012 I will get a Borderlands tattoo on my back.
No COD World at War?
the people have spoken tony. $5? sound good? plz thx?

really not trying to point out the one thing that's missing from an otherwise ballin' sale, but since so many of the other COD titles are on sale, might as well get crazy, right? :whee:

:) WaW is the only COD game that i really enjoyed on PS3, loved the campaign, the multiplayer was solid and the zombie mode was fun as hell. The PC version supports mods so that makes it an instant buy for me.

I've been waiting all sale to see where the price of Kingdom of Amalur would land. Wow.. $35 is extremely disappointing. This game wasn't as popular as Skyrim, yet the pricing continues to be set as if it were one of the top 2 best selling games of the year (has this been the highest priced item in this sale?). Oh well, I'm in no rush to overspend right now and will gladly wait until after the license has been passed on to a different company.
Should I buy The Sims 3? Does it uses Origin?
It doesn't require Origin, but you can register it on Origin. However you really don't get any extra features for doing that. It's just another place to have a backup to downoad the game agan from if you need it.

Sims 3 has its own site though that you can make an account on and get some features like in game DLC transactions, uploading houses to share, sending sims to a friend's town (if you have Showtime) etc.

I truly don't understand why such a high pricing, especially taking in consideration the really bad moment that the developer is going through.

Last I heard they paid the state and the employees and are planning on an Amalur MMO in 2013.

Honestly, at this point, I don't anticipate any sort of deep discount is going to save the company. KoA has sold around what its going to sell. Slashing it to 20 bucks for example might drive in some short term revenue, but by the time the sales are processed by retailers, paid out to the distributor, paid out to the developer, etc. it will likely be too little too late. So I think their strategy is to continue business as usual. Put it on sale a bit and concentrate on whatever else they might be developing to hope they have the time/resources to put it out and get a hit that will save the company.

It's not up to the developer, it's up to the publisher, in this case EA.

But I agree that it's a pretty rancid deal for a game that doesn't seem to have been a huge smashing success at the higher price point. They are probably just clinging to the fact that it's a newer release rather than attempting to take a more practical approach.

The value of 38 Studios' Amalur intellectual property is estimated to be in the range of $20 million. We asked Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter for his valuation following confirmation of layoffs at the studio and coverage of 38 Studios employees flocking to Turbine's recruitment drive in Providence last night.

"Nobody is buying MMOs after Star Wars fizzled. I think value is low, probably $20 million or so," Pachter said. "There is just no demand for game assets right now, as THQ proved when it tried to sell the Warhammer MMO. I think [Electronic Arts] could step in, since they are the publisher, so you might see some alternative way to get 38 some bridge financing."

Tony I believe said that the Amazon Arma pack isn't steam redeemable.

for the last time ARMA 2 - Operation Arrowhead - and Combined Operations cannot be redeemed on STEAM
There's a review on Amazon that the Amazon ARMA 2 can't be redeemed on Steam, is this true? I've been thinking of getting it just for Day Z.
That is correct. The Amazon version DOES NOT activate on Steam.
Last I heard they paid the state and the employees and are planning on an Amalur MMO in 2013.
Actually, they only managed to pay their overdue payment after they nearly bounced their payroll check

38 Studios' next payment is a debt service payment due November 1 of $2.6 million, and Rhode Island officials believe the studio will have the capital to cover it.

38 Studios will then owe $12.6 million in full annual debt service in 2013, and "that's on their dime," officials said.

Basically the games license is their only collateral right now and that MMO has very little chance of ever seeing the light of day. Especially since the interest in MMOs has several decreased.

Picked up the Femme Fatale pack. :)

Have to say, really weak prices on the Modern Warfare games. I might have thought about picking them up if they were a bit cheaper, but jeez. You can pick up a used hard copy of the collector's edition of MW2 for that price (yes, I've seen them go for $10 multiple times in the past). Those prices are what I'd expect them to be without a sale... lol.

Agreed.

If only (I know, it's Activision) they released GOTY editions of any of the Call of Dutys (MW 1 hardly counts considering it was one measly mappack), I'd be all over BLOPS. Picked up MW2 for the pc when amazon had it for 5, and I CANNOT go back to a controller, I've seen the light...lol

But fuck paying $30 and another $60 for all the maps....

Dear Tony:

I'm still wondering ( because you didn't answer my questions) if we'll be able to get a steam key of Amazon's Sega Genesis Mega Pack. And i have another doubt, could it be possible for you to give us a steam key of Tropico Reloaded or Tropico trilogy? (for everyone who buys it, not as a gift xD )

Thanks in advance, and please answer me.

Hey there,

Sorry about the delay here, I emailed Kalypso on getting Steam keys and haven't yet heard back (which is why I didn't respond yet). As for the Genesis pack, no, they are DRM free so there are no Steam keys distributed for them.

Edit as stated in my signature, if you ask a question in the thread and don't see an answer from me, please reach out again via PM as this pings my outlook email and will help me identify that I missed a question.

Cheers,
Tony

Well the part in the description saying:

"Additional Information
Requires Steam account for game installation and activation."

would hint at the possibility ...

Although in his defence Amazon isn't exactly consistent on how they denote a game utilizes Steam. Sometimes they put it down in the additional info below the system requirements (where it's easy to miss), sometimes they call it "online game code" in the title (which is vague), sometimes there's the new yellow sign with the exclamation that says 'This a Steam version, there is also a non-Steam version' etc. Sometimes it isn't even in the listing at all.

It would be nice if there were just one consistent place to look for this information imho.

Judging by the number of times 'Does this activate on Steam?' gets asked in this thread I would say they still have a good bit of work to do before that information gets dissemenated to the perspective buyer in a clear and easy to find manner.

The engineer who owns the product page team promises me we'll have a "DRM" identification next to "Rating" on our product pages in the next few months...thank god :).
FYI sorry for all the misses lately on questions guys, I've been really busy driving this Mayhem sale.

That is a sick deal! Don't all of those register on Steam as well?

Victoria and the first Sword of the Stars don't, unless they get them in time.

I bought the Paradox complete pack from Steam last summer so I have SoTS and Victoria II, but still I don't have the newer stuff like CKII, SoTSII and Magicka: Stars are Left so I'll probably go for this pack as a sort of Paradox supplement. I was going to just get CKII for $10 but hell for $3 more I might as well get the pack.

Holy crap that's amazing! Looking it over, the very first review for Sword of the Stars Complete, says "Purchasers of the download version are required to install Impulse" and they said the review was for the Download version, thoughts?

Purchasers of the download version are required to install Impulse, an online game-management platform, but it is not as obnoxious as Steam

*Edit: Ninja'ed by Tony!

I am not aware of any version of SoTS outside of Impulse requiring their client. Maybe he is thinking of Sins of a Solar Empire?
