Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

Thanks again everyone, let me or Josh know if you have any questions!

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

  • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
  • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
  • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry
General Information

Hi CAGs,
I'll be posting deals we're running on Digital Games (PC/Mac, Free to Play, Sony/Microsoft Points/Subs).

I'm also here to answer questions you might have, get you closer to the developers by hosting Q&As, setting up podcasts, live streaming gameplay etc. If I don't respond to a question you have in thread please send me a PM. These ping my email address and make it more likely that I will see your question and respond more quickly.

Cheers,
Tony

FYI. EA Games sold by Amazon will not activate on Steam.
F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.

5. Price Matching notes: Generally we do not match international retailers (GMG, Gamersgate, etc) or physical retailers (Best Buy, Newegg.com, etc.)
To check out the Free-2-Play games we offer you can visit our storefront here: Free-2-Play Store

Don't think there are any deals on the points :)

Spreadsheet in sig :)

I do not know the end date to the sale. If someone knows please let me know and I will update.

Also for those interested it seems that the Digital Tribe Games pack is back up (not sure when it was available again) but it is 7 Steam games for $2.
most of the rockstar is the usual one week sale ea no idea

EA Deal - Jade Empire , Mass Effect , Fifa14 and Dragon Age  are end now. ( but Mass Effect 1 and 2 are still 75% off because of Price Match with Steam?)

Oatmeal and raisins should never be mixed in a cookie. Or scratch that, oatmeal and/or raisins should never be in a cookie in the first place.
There is something very, very wrong with you. How could you have been raised so sheltered and/or with such bad taste?

who's the broad?
Zrinka...producer for Dreamatrix (Legends of Dawn).

fuck

I have not seen anyone mention Dragon Age Ultimate ED and DA II for $9.99 seems like a pretty sweet deal, even though I own both on Xbox. I don't have any of the DLC or Expansions.
It was mentioned a few pages back, but yeah, it's a pretty decent deal. Having just finished up Origins, I can say I can't imaging playing the console version. Like most Bioware titles, their PC versions tend to be the superior platform.

Definitely a nice bundle.

I wish it came w/ DAII's DLC's, though. I'm still missing those DAII DLC's.

Damn BioWare + their premium pricing and never often having sales on their Points!

Same complaint goes for ME2 DLC's + ME3 DLC's, as well.

DAO Ultimate is fantastic - especially if you loved BG1+2 (tactical party-based RPG).

I haven't played through the DLC's yet - but DAO base-game is great + Awakening is pretty good.

About DA2 - it's nowhere even remotely even close to the greatness of DAO (not many are, IMHO), but I still did like DA2 even despite my laundry list of issues w/ it (recycled environments; it's nowhere as tactical as DAO; seems like there's less choices here; no more tac-cam; too many battles have enemies dropping from rooftops in city; etc etc).

EDIT:

I'd say since he has both on the consoles - if he has a decent PC that can run it; can get those cheap to suit himself on the PC; and actually plans to play-through the games again; and wants the expansions/DLC's for DAO Ultimate - yeah, get the PC version.

I've seen the console version of DAO in action, since my nephew has it - not impressed w/ graphics on 360 version; and it lacks the tac-cam the PC version has.

I still need to get both to DOA Ultimate and to go back to BG. I played BG1 when it first came out. Unfortunately I'm the type of person that tends to (at least I used to) explore everything. I completed every quest and searched every inch of the game out on my first run. I didn't think ahead to realize what a mistake this is for a game like BG which is completely static. I started a second run and realized it was, except for the character class change, repetitive as hell. I added a bit of flavor by doing a solo run. It was quite hard and made things a lot more fun. I'm tempted to go back now that I have the complete series, us BG Tutu or some equivalent, and do another run to finish it off forever since I never played the expansions or the sequel.

Kind of curious as to whether it's possible to solo the whole series like that. That'd be the most fun for me--not a big fan of party stuff typically. Also curious as to whether the same approach is doable in DOA:U.

She's Czech, I believe.  At least the company was Czech so it'd make sense.

I should try that game again some day and see if they ever made it suck less.

Was that a mistake? It's up to $49.99 now. I thought I had at least the weekend to think about it :(

this... you didn't miss much. Dragon Age II is a insult to the fans & should be skipped, let alone backlogged or played :shame:

Curious - did you play the DA2 DLC's?

EDIT:

I already spoke about DA2 base-game in my post that you quoted.

So I looked it up, she's Croatian. And totally the producer. And totally an RPG fan. And totally not satisfied with the state of RPGs today. I mean Zrinka wouldn't lie to us, now would she?

Doesn't matter to me if she lied, since someone gave me a Steam-key for it in a giveaway, IIRC. ;)

If it sucks, no money out of my pocket. ;)

Wo0t for Bing Rewards.

Yeah, I've been accumulating some Amazon GC's.

Just b/c something I feel is not falling into my 75% off or better for backlogging range, doesn't mean I'm just gonna order it to blow some Amazon GC $. :eek:P

Skip that - I want awesome sales + Amazon GC $ used. I want CHEAP stuff! :D

Tony (on the off chance you'll see this):
Another request - any chance of getting the Warframe packs on sale at some point in the near future?  I've been playing the past month & am getting ready to make my first in-game platinum purchase soon & I'd rather get it through Amazon, if possible.

Amazon's Warframe stuff

Also - I'm really interested in picking up Titanfall - but the $5 games credit preorder bonus isn't really doing it for me - any idea if Amazon will be offering a better preorder bonus before release?

Buy an Xbox One get Titanfall for free...

LOL - yeah... that's not happening right now :) Maybe in a couple years when the new iteration comes out & they drop the price to something reasonable - just for exclusives... then again, probably not. Not a huge fan of the whole kinect/tv aspect since the only TV I watch is streamed over the internet without commercials anyway. Also, after reading about the UK gov't using webcams to spy on people (and their experiments with kinect) I am sure my own gov't is doing the same - I don't need the NSA watching me pick my nose & eat cheetos.

also if xbox one's exclusives are anything like 360's (essentially gears of war and halo and a sea of nothing) it won't be worth it for exclusives, anyway

Now I'm kinda curious... at the same time?
Well, as long as Cheetos keeps dragging there feet on booger flavored cheetos, you have to make do with what you can

Sure.. why not - I've got two hands. :) Seriously though - I haven't had cheetos in a ridiculously long time, and after typing that I really want to go buy some. Unfortunately, that is (at least) a 10 min drive to the nearest store (yes I live in east bumblefuk) so it's not going to happen today. :(

Forza... I can't remember any other Xbox exclusives I was interested in. PS3 has a fair number, but...steam backlog.
My decision to buy the Last of Us/Arkham Origins PS3 bundle around black friday was driven by Demon's Souls alone, although PS3 does have a fair amount of other exclusives I've wanted...Last of Us, I'm playing God of War right now, actually. Infamous, Little Big Planet, Resistance, Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD, Uncharteds, Ni No Kuni, etc are all games I have interest in. I really wish I would have invested in a PS3 as opposed to an Xbox when I first got a console...I've yet to play a single 360 exclusive.

^_^ That sounds like a cut-out from the list PS3 exclusives that interest me. Yes, a fair number of the are the HD versions of PS2 games I own/wanted.

why u hate halo series and gears of war and ......im thinking... still am nope i think that only two

Well I did play Red Dead Redemption on my 360.. so there's that.  I gave up on the Halo series after 3 (only played the campaigns anyway) and even though I have Gears of War 3 - I've not even opened the box (was pretty bored in GoW2).

There's a few 360 RPGs I'd like to play. Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, and that's it. I played Halo 1 and 2 on the original XBOX. There's tons of shooters for the PS3 and PC, so I don't feel like I'm missing out there. Gears of War uses the same POV that the Batman games uses and I absolutely hate the off-center over-the-shoulder perspective, so that's no good either.

Honestly the PS3 really seems to have dominated last-gen as far as exclusives go. By a wide margin.

I agree with everyone so far, it definitely goes:

1. PS3
2. 360
3. Wii
4. DS
5. PC
I disagree because: stuff and thus I've clearly won the argument. You may all go home now.
